Hey y'all!! Happy Wednesday~~ Here is this week's photo diaries entry :o) I hope you enjoy flipping through. I'm looking forward to whenever me and my pals are able to have our reupholstery party, cause I think my ottoman is gonna look so beautiful with that navy fabric, it'll be like an extension of my couch almost!!

I also wanted to touch more one slide in particular, where I mention that I had a great catch-up chat with Andy J. Pizza for another appearance on Creative Pep Talk :o) idk when the episode will air, but I'm excited to listen back to it!! Partially because Andy might have very casually changed my whole life lol

We were chatting about the ~process~ and I was talking about not being sure what my destination is, so it's hard to enjoy the journey of it all when there's no conceivable end point, and I crave the whimsy and the magic, and Andy was like "well, a lot of your work seems to be in the vein of concept art, which makes sense considering your love for video games and DnD -- you really seem to want to tell stories in pictures as opposed to words, and it seems like a lot of your stuff in already in the vein of concept art. have you considered exploring that?"

and I just kinda stared at him and had to be like "I have...never, ever, considered that I might want to do concept art. Oh my god." and then we just laughed and laughed and I couldn't believe it

I don't know if I want to pursue concept artist as a formal career, but it's wild to actually have a name to the type of work that I want to make. I want to make magical illustrations that feel like they are part of larger worlds, and I'm so much more interested in the feeling of a piece of art, as opposed to the accuracy or sense of it. I also remember back in September 2023, when I was trying to do The Artist's Way, I went to the Studio Laika exhibit at MoPOP, and it was a piece of concept art from Missing Link that made me spontaneously burst into tears in the museum cause I was like "oh, this is it, this is the kinda stuff I wanna make." And even then!! I didn't realize that it was the big direction I wanted to move in! I think I've been so locked into this content creator/online store artist mindset that it didn't occur to me I could shift course. SO. THAT'S COOL!! and kinda mind-blowing, I'm still reeling about it
