I would definitely struggle with trying to do something like that weekly as well. I’ve had to tell myself at times that when something tells you you should do a task within a certain amount of time it’s okay of I adjust it to a time frame that works for me. But I’m not sure if the artists way could be structured like that.

Maybe it's the severe untreated mental health issues lol, but it always made me feel inadequate because even tasks that you're really supposed to commit to (like the morning pages) were basically impossible for me to keep up with every day or really regularly at all. The whole 'your job is to show up, it isn't your problem whether what you produce is good or not' wasn't encouraging because I couldn't even do that. And after years of going back and forth on the whole 'am I just lazy/undisciplined or can I really not do this' I know for a fact that it's an executive functioning issue not laziness. But it feels like Julia treats the morning pages and a lot of the stuff in the artists way in a dogmatic way, like her methods are completely full proof and completely accessible to absolutely everyone. I really didn't enjoy that vibe and it felt consistent throughout the tone of the book. I couldn't even get past chapter 3 even when I was just reading it lol. I'm glad it's helped so many people but it's defintely one of those really popular phenomenons that just isn't for me. Everyone has at least one!

I really want to join a campaign with my bestie but we're both much too busy to commit to one. I'm planning to get BG3 (and a PS5), and I keep thinking of making a ranger/rogue multiclass with gloom stalker or a druid/barbarian multiclass. (Also, no shame in romancing Astarion. He is SO hot)

2023-09-16 06:02:17 +0000 UTCi think it's amazing that you even start to do the artist's way as well. but when it starts to get overwhelming, i am always one for just prioritising what is needed. the journey is supposed to give you warmth and motivation, and it's fine if it doesn't. that's just how it is! you're so real for this and i love that!

I could barely get through week 2 without feeling like i wasnt gaining what I need too. i loathed getting up earlier for doing the morning pages but i might also try to start doing them later in the day. youve inspired me alot with my art journey and i appreciate your honesty with life things. things dont always work out, and thats okay :)
