Anduo Report - February 16th, 2022

Heya all! Vils here with the lewds and the not-so lewds for this week! Let's check 'em out!


Working Title and Placeholder Logo

As you can see above, we've settled on a name we like for Project-Next, now called Erokin.

We like to keep things short and sweet around here. We've also put together a quick placeholder logo while we work on a better one as development goes on. The 'O' in the logo is the symbol of the Erokin, the succubi race that our main elf girl finds out she's a part of.


Environment

As usual, here are some previews of the amazing progress that pmperfect has made on our city street vertical slice environment.

Especially that first screenshot really got us hyped internally. It's coming together more and more! There's been massive leaps in how we develop textures for walls like in the last screenshot. See on the right side how 3d it looks? In reality it's a 2D plane. We use a Heightmap (a texture that's white where things are extruded and black when they're not) to fake a 3D effect. This saves performance, because the GPU doesn't have to take care of vertices! This is what the heightmap looks like for this specific texture.


Aside from this, pmperfect has also done a lot more sculpting recently, to add more small details to our textures. Sculpting is a workflow where instead of moving individual vertices, you have tools like in real life clay modeling. For example you can "carve" away at any point on your mesh to create little cracks in stone like here:

That is also how the bevels on the edges of each stone were made!



Concept Art

We've recently onboarded a different concept artist named LessDraws to help us out with general concept art and we're really happy with how these pieces are turning out. On this iteration, we wanted to really focus on bringing forward the personalities of our two main characters in their designs.

Alda is an introverted elven mercenary with a strong, silent personality, submissive in bed.
Dala is an extroverted erokin with a rockstar personality, dominant in bed.

What's important to note with these characters is that they're not just different personalities of the same being, but they are two separate beings in one body. Yet they are still two sides of the same coin, like twins, but polar opposites of each other. 

When one character takes control, the body changes into their form (along with their clothing) and the other character takes a back seat in their mind but is still conscious and aware. No matter who's in the driver's seat, they both feel the same things from their body's senses.


Also here's an angel with a (shot)gun. Can't wait to fight one of these guys.


Character Model

Here's our latest iteration of a character model in-engine before rigging. Now with hair and painted nails!

We've since already made some improvements to the model, like making the nipples more perky and straightening the back a little. Overall though, we are really happy with the overall style of the character! We'd love to hear what you think!


Here's a shader being used to add some shading to the character's eyes. So it's a shading shader that shades.

It's a technique our 3D modeler JuggerDown learnt and asked me to implement in Unity! Very happy with the results!


And here's the After and Before. We don't do Before and Afters.

Status

After some recent playtesting I discovered that the dialogue as it was structured wasn't all that engaging. So I've been in the middle of a lengthy overhaul of how the dialogue is structured, not a complete rewrite, but adding and changing things here and there to fix the pacing and flow. 

Right now I'm about 3/4 of the way through and the dialogue I've changed flows really nicely now. 

Here's a look at what the backend dialogue editor looks like for us.

Pornstar Nun CG

Here's a CG for the pornstar route that features Jenna in a nun getup! Almost ready for animation.


Peitho Slave Girl CG

Here's a CG that's almost animation-complete for the Peitho slave training route.

I'm super happy with the impact of the thrusts of the guard! Feels meaty! Also Jennas chuckle works well! ^-^ I had to try a few times to get the chuckle to feel good. It's the small things that take a lot of time sometimes.


Peitho Route Machine CG

And here's a fully completed animation for the Peitho Route featuring Peitho Jenna and her favorite partner, a sex machine.

The CG has sound and cum belly now! I'm particularly happy with the squash and stretch of the dildos as they go in and out. It's a bit hard to see on the low fps gif, but once you see it ingame, you'll see what I mean! Feels meaty! 

It has been a massive challenge to queue up the motion of Jennas body being rocked back and forth with the dildos. It's not visible in the Gif, but there's a part in the animation, where she is being fucked by all 3 dildos and it was very hard to make Jennas body reacting to that feel right. I think it ended up working out decently well, but you'll see it once the update is out! :)
