What's New: October 2022

Hello everyone, hope you are all having good times with Dragonflight prepatch. The future is bright and new expansion looks quite solid 🤩

Anddddd let's check what has transpired during the month of October.

UI/UX OVERHAUL

Since Dragonflight is making a UI overhaul to in-game layout this also pushed me to make some changes to GoW UI as well. UI & UX is a never ending progress and since it's been almost 5 years GoW needed some refreshing touches too.

This started with changing the guild and profile headers to left aligned for having a more readable interface and making use of the screen real estate better. 

For having a unified design language on site, all elements are now rounded. Wink wink Windows 11 😉😉😉

During these 5 years I learned a lot about UI development and in the mean time web technologies didn't stop evolving. I'm following and/or trying to catch new tech as much as I can, there has been many under the hood updates and more will be developed especially around web-component usage.  

Since all UI components are being developed in-house they needed some love too. There has been many enhancements to components focusing selects and dialogs. In the future you will see a more unified component experience.

One of the sections that changed is event attendance. It's now inside a modal instead of full layout with new select component and this makes the experience much more simpler and quicker.

DESKTOP SYNC CLIENT

Desktop sync client does its job like a chief conductor of a symphony orchestra. It uploads and downloads without getting tired day by day.

However installation process of this application was quite tedious. Windows may see applications as a threat with low installation counts and unfortunately some users were having a bad taste or even stopping the whole setup.

In order to bypass this and to have a more up-to-date product GoW Sync App is now on Microsoft Store. It's now much more easier to reach & install. During this preparation electron is also updated to latest version so it's highly encouraged to migrate to Store app if you are using the previous standalone version to have a faster and more secure application.
