Discord Bot Changes
Added 2022-03-14 08:54:04 +0000 UTCHello everyone πππ There has been many developments during the last month about Discord bot so here's a list of changes for your eyes π
β A brand new bot connection process has been developed. Instead of using bot commands you can now use website and apps directly for connecting with channels. After initialising your guild with bot you will see 'Add New Channel Connection Button' on bot management section.
β You can now bind one-off upcoming events just like recurring events with bots. This can be done either bot management page or via upcoming event update.
β Creation of attendance messages and Discord native calendar events can be toggled on/off for each connection.
β Logs can be bound via combat logs tag for separating channels with teams on bot connections.
β Discord native calendar events now support 'Interested In' functionality. When players click this button, bot attendance flow with 'Attending' status is being triggered.
β Some changes about scheduled events: Prevented creation of more than one native calendar event on Discord when an error happens while updating. Now title and description aren't being updated every time so you can alter these fields freely. I've seen that Discord added image support to API so in the near future I'll also implement this.
β Increased bot connection creation limit by 1 for each tier
β I've started implementing Discord slash commands. There's a great foundation which I've not tapped until recently so I'll be developing some bot commands in the future. Have cool ideas here. Since bot requires additional scope for command usage, it's mandatory to re-add bot to your Discord server. https://discord.com/api/oauth2/authorize?client_id=760511701236973610&permissions=405874931776&scope=bot%20applications.commands
β Roles can now be mentioned on messages. Just visit your channel connection pane and select the roles you want to be tagged.
β You can now enable creation of threads for each message. I've some more plans for this feature, like sending reminders or event/log updates to thread instead of main channel. But for now bot will only create separate threads for additional conversations.
β For Discord events you can now target voice or stage channels instead of GoW event link. Discord events work quite nicely with channels IMO so it's up to you if you want to use them this way. (If you select any channel instead of event link, GoW event link won't be shown in this case.)
