The-Clandestine-Agencies (II) [Chapter 256]

~~Malfoy Manor~~

Lucius stared at the recent missive from his Master with obvious trepidation on his face. His Master wanted him to distract Harry Potter for a couple of days by any means. His Master even went as far as to suggest that he should poison someone close to him. Lucius chuckled hollowly as he stared at the letter.

Lucius would admit that he had made a lot of mistakes in his life, but he was not foolish enough to make the mistake of trying to poison someone close to Harry Potter on behalf of his Master. Only a few months ago, Lucius had everything. He was the man of his house, but now, he was nothing more than a prisoner in his own home.

‘How far the mighty have fallen…’ Lucius mused mirthlessly inside his mind…

There was no way he would be able to poison anyone in the house without getting caught. After all, the house elves were not going to let him anywhere near the kitchen and even if he somehow managed to poison something, there was no way of knowing who he was going to end up poisoning like that.

Heck, he might end up poisoning his own son if he tried anything like that and the life of his son was more important than anything…

Then again, if he somehow managed to succeed by any luck, his fate was going to be something really horrific. His whole body started to tremble when he remembered what the boy had done to Severus and the man genuinely regretted his actions. He felt bad for his friend, but that didn’t mean he was willing to join him.

That wasn’t all though, there was a chance that Potter might decide to punish Draco for his actions… That was not something he wanted to happen. He wanted his Family to survive. He remembered something his grandfather used to say when the man was still alive.

‘Malfoys always win’ Lucius mused as he decided his next course of action. If he tried to carry out the task given to him by the Dark Lord, then he was going to have a very painful death, regardless if he succeeded or not, but on the other hand, Potter had promised that he was going to die.

He realized that sometimes a peaceful death was much better than a painful life… He wasn’t delusional enough to believe that the Dark Lord was going to spare him if the man won by some miracle. He had lost the priceless artifact given to him by the Dark Lord for safekeeping. Lucius knew that he was going to be punished for that.

In his foolishness, he might have chosen to reach out to the Dark Lord, just out of spite, but the recent missive had proven to him that the Dark Lord didn’t give a toss about him. The Dark Lord simply saw him as an expendable pawn… Lucius wouldn’t have cared to be honest if the man could have protected his son, but that was only wishful thinking.

The only reason the Dark Lord was still breathing was because Potter had decided to take everything away from him before granting him death… He had heard Amelia Bones recalling the events of that night during lunch. Amelia Bones was a lot of things, but a liar she was not.

Potter was going to kill him, but if his death meant the continued survival of his son and his legacy, he was going to accept his death… He would have liked to avoid death, but the Dark Lord couldn’t even protect himself…

~~Luton, London~~

Sirius stared at the woman bound to the chair in front of him with a cold glint in his eyes. He had hooked up with her in the pub and like a gentleman, he brought her back to his mansion, and when they finally started to get frisky, the woman tried to stab him with a Muggle syringe, but his training kicked in and he was able to disarm her before knocking her out.

The said syringe was lying on the table along with the small handgun and a knife he found tucked inside of her boots. While his stint in Azkaban had made his skills rust, he was starting to regain them with each passing day and there were some things a person could never forget. He was a trained Hit Wizard and some things were ingrained into his mind.

‘Now what the hell am I supposed to do with her?’ Sirius screamed inside his mind. He knew nothing about the woman except for the name she gave him and he wasn’t sure if it was even real to begin with. He could hand her over to the Ministry, but that was not a solution right now… While Amelia had passed the mantle of Director to Rufus Scrimgeour, the DMLE was still a mess.

For a moment he considered informing Harry, but he wasn’t sure if should do so… Harry would most certainly kill her, but Sirius wasn’t sure if he wanted her dead. Yes, she had tried to inject him with something questionable, but that didn’t warrant death, did it? Maybe, he should ask Tonks for some help… The girl was dating Harry and maybe she could help him make the choice…

With his mind made up, he flicked out his Wand and cast the Patronus Charm to inform Tonks… It wasn’t easy to relearn the Curse, but he had managed it somehow and he was really proud of that… Thanks to Harry, he now knew that he didn’t need to use a real memory for the Charm. He could use his imagination as long as it was strong enough.

After a minute, he felt Tonks arrive thanks to the Wards before he heard a loud crash… Sirius closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. He shouldn’t have placed that glass table in front of the Floo… Still, Tonks seemed to be fine. “Heya!” Tonks waved at him with a grin, acting completely normal. “Look, I might have smashed…” Tonks froze when her gaze finally focused on the girl bound in the chair.

“Merlin’s saggy balls! Now you have started to kidnap women from the streets, you sex fiend!!” Tonks screeched while giving him a disgusted look…
