No progress found 02/20/23

Hey

So as I promised, I did barely anything this week :^)

final project taking much more time and power than I anticipated (and I also caught a cold again =\ ) I should be able to finish it tomorrow and send for review. Hopefully I don't have to make a lot of correcting after than :^)

On a bright side I feel pretty motivated to work on game after all this boring crap, and also not afraid to open Unity anymore lol.
Hopefully I can do some great progress next week. At least I should be able to evaluate how much I'm missing, so at least I can promise that in the next update!

I hope I don't die from cold tomorrow! Cya ( ˙▿˙ )/

P.S. for the discord, I guess I wait few more months for that, and focus on pushing first version of the game a little bit faster

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the time you took to write this. You are going to become a game-designing master - I look forward to it!

Uni got me nothing, just might as well graduate for comp. science degree at this point. I feel like C# and Unity is pretty intuitive and straightforward, esp if you have some prior coding experience. I would grab some short course to get the basics, then try to do some small project (like I did, even if it grew a little). Code will look horrifying, but you learn a lot probably, and the game still gonna be somewhat playable (as long as you didn't flood update cycles with something heavy). For game design im just doing in blind :^). Most important thing probably is to map your systems prior, so you can see how they interact with each other. If you just build systems one after another, it will bloat your code with unnecessary constructs and bad practices. I myself struggling atm with envisioning all the systems together, maybe i should find good tool for that

Oh nice! As someone who is interested in making games on Unity, but have no programming experience, do you have a recommendation on how to learn? Do you feel your university courses are the best at preparing you for game design? Or are you mainly teaching yourself elsewhere?

HimeCut

What is it that took away your fear of opening Unity?
