Size Shenanigans 0.2.2 progress public update #1 + Apple

Thank you for following me, and reading the updates..

The first thing I will address is the new changes due to Apples billing rules. Starting in November of 2024 Apple will be taking a 30% cut of all subscriptions that are made using the IOS app's.

I have the option of raising the prices for IOS users, however due to the fact that if I were to raise fees by 30% apple would get a 30% cut of that increase, I would need to raise fees for IOS users by 50% to receive the same amount of subscription as non-IOS users.

I do not like this sort of models, and as a result I will not be adjusting the subscriptions, and instead ask that any ISO users either subscribe via Patreons website, or via another device.

Now onto more fun information.

Game changes. In the update I will be removing the screen zoom effect while the player is small. This is due to how I've been finding the effect interacts with other systems, such as the camera. It will still be used for some events, but while small players will have full view.

As of the moment saves from 2.1, and 2.1a will be compatible with 2.2, however there are more game changes planed, and I do not know if these will cause issues with previous saves yet.

Regardless there will be a pair of saves with all editions of the game to prevent people from needing to replay the start of the game.

The next section is a compass system that will be implemented in the game. This will be a purchasable item from Eva in the guild reception. There will be additional dialogue with Eva to prompt the player to purchase the item.

While the item is equipped a compass will show in the bottom right of the screen, and when the player is close to something it will show on the compass. Any item will show it's icon on the compass, there will be icons for doors, as well as entrances to dungeons.

The compass will automatically hide while text is being displayed, or if an event is running.

The main section will be for events/characters. Excepts for a couple of events there will be a number for a character. While the player is at full sized this will indicate the number of dialogue options the player has with the character.

The number will be by default white, however if the number is green, then it indicates that at least one of the interactions with the event will either change the event, either now, or at a later point in the game, or will change a different event.

While the player has been shrunk a white number indicates the number of events, and that all of them are survival.

Green indicates that at least one of the interactions with the event will either change the event, either now, or at a later point in the game, or will change a different event, and that all of the events are survival.

Red indicates that at least one of the interactions will result in the death of the player

Blue indicates that at lease one event will result in the death of the player, and that the event can either change, or change another event and this change is survival.

Here is what the compass looks like:

Be aware that the compass is in early implementation, and may change upon the release of version 0.2.2, there will be a in game document in the library.

Comments

Interacting with dialogue for the most part won't change the compass. This is due to how the compass is able to detect the events. Events that change can can different information, and it is possible to implement the change for all events, but then it will bloat the events, and will handicap my ability to make more complex events. This is due to how the compass gets the icon, and location from the event.

Compass is a great idea, if you have already seen an event/dialogue , will it still show on the compass?

LaserFloors

The compass will only be visible while the item is equipped, so you can use the equipment hotkey button to easily remove, or re-equipt it. Also it will hide while text is being displayed, as well as while an event is running.

Alaric

Compass seems a bit too big, will we be able to show/hide it with a key bind?
