Poll - Taking the Pulse - How do the current stories and pacing feel to you?

Hello there,

While the current projects are progressing nicely, I’ve noticed a drop in overall activity over the past three months.

The data doesn’t give me a clear picture of what’s going on, so rather than guess — and risk making the wrong assumptions - I’d rather ask you directly.

Think of this as a simple way to better understand how you’re experiencing this Patreon and the current stories: their pacing, tone, and format.

This won’t affect the stories already in progress - those are fully written and storyboarded - but your feedback will help guide how I approach future projects.

It’s a single-question poll, but you can select multiple answers.
Feel free to leave a comment if you'd like to share more.

Thank you in advance!

How do the current stories and pacing feel to you?

I think I speak for the majority when I say that the sex is hotter with a compelling story. Kind of like foreplay.

1) Yeah, I realized that about an hour after posting. It definitely feels good to see such positive results, right, but it indeed doesn’t really help in figuring out why things are happening. 2) Up until 3 months ago, I had a 2/3 new sub to 1/3 cancellation ratio. But since, that’s flipped, and even gone negative, with more cancellations than new subs. That suggests this format has lost some of its appeal, and I’m trying to understand what could be improved. I know it’s normal to hit a plateau at some point, but it still feels a bit early for that. 3) I do think the “I enjoy having several stories at once, but it’s hard to keep track sometimes” feedback might be part of the problem, even if it’s a minor one. Not really sure how to fix that though. All the comics are already pinned to their respective Collections folders to make rereading easier. Still, I’m not sure what else I could do to help. 4) That’s a great idea! I’ll start adding that info to the description of every cover page, both past and future. Thanks for the suggestion! 5) I dunno. “Not interested” already seems to cover that feedback well enough, imo?

A few thoughts: 1) Not sure Patreon itself is really a great place to find solid constructive criticism since this is an audience comprised entirely of people that like you enough to pay you to do what you do, which is why the majority of feedback here has been "you're doing great, keep it up!" Nothing wrong with positivity, but I'm not sure it's helping solve any issues either. 2) With that said, I'm not really sure what the issue is, exactly? Like what is "drop in overall activity" referring to? The channel still seems to be doing fine in terms of support (there's been a bit of a plateau recently but you can't expect consistent rates of growth in any business, furry porn or otherwise). Is this referring to engagement on posts like comments and likes? 3) If it is engagement we're talking about, I wonder if story selection is playing a role in that. The answer I selected in the poll was "I enjoy having several stories at once, but it's hard to keep track sometimes" and it looks like there were others that shared a similar sentiment. I'm not sure this is really getting at what I think the core of the issue is though. 4) More of a "3a" really, but your comics are very intertwined with both the lore and aesthetic of the source material, and there is at least some expectation that the reader has some level of familiarity with the characters at the start. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this on its own, and this tends to work well for people that do have that familiarity, but if you don't it can be difficult to get invested. For example, I don't know much about League of Legends lore, so while I really like the art direction for Thrill of the Hunt I feel like I have no idea who these people are or what's happening and it's hard to get invested. I had the same issue with the Freya Crescent one. I wonder if a quick character synopsis or something in the description for the first page would be helpful in getting people that aren't familiar with the source material caught up so they understand the context better and can be more engaged. 5) I'd also suggest changes to the interest polling system to better determine what stories audiences are really interested in. The current system has a HEAVILY positive bias that I think sometimes reflects more enthusiasm for a project than is actually present. "I'd read it" is a pretty low standard - outside of a few things that I just cannot get into, I'd read pretty much anything, even if I'm not excited about it. I think adding at least a fourth option like "I'd read it but I'm not that stoked about it/I'd rather read something else" could help better prioritize projects if you're looking for more audience engagement.
