The Mandalorian - Thoughts

This will be one of my rare reviews. I wanted to get it out for you guys because I'm excited about the show, but also it's fresh on my mind.

Coming off watching episode one last night, I don't think I've been this excited for a TV Show in a couple years. This could end up being the best thing to happen to Star Wars since the original trilogy. No exaggerations. It was, of course, one episode, so I'm still holding my breath. Still, it hit all the right notes and was unique enough in its own right to restore some of the original Star Wars magic for me.

I'm not new to the Mandalorian or the bounty hunter lore in the extended universe. SWKOTOR 1 and 2 are some of my favorite single player RPGs to date. I've also played SWTOR as a bounty hunter for a limited time, so I'm already a fan of the class. The unique part to this was that the character starts out as a general bounty hunter, but little pieces of who he is behind the mask is slowly revealed fairly early. They did a good job keeping the mystery intact, but giving you reason to care about the character.

The cinematography is top notch, even for a AAA movie. I read that one of Lucas's dreams was to have a TV Show that was the same quality as big budget movies. So far, he's succeeded. It's outstanding.

The plot to a bounty hunter show would have to be fairly straight forward. Their profession itself is exciting, so you'd expect them to use that. They stayed true to what you'd expect from a bounty hunter, but put a nice twist at the end to reveal some nice conflict the MC will have to face internally, and the promise of a true Star Wars epic. 

The side characters are interesting in their own right, and one of my new favorite droid was introduced.
