Hnnnnnnnnn...news.
Added 2020-07-26 01:19:44 +0000 UTCThis week I decided to be very clever. "I'll just roll back KSP so I can get the footage I need with mods that aren't broken," I said. So I did that.
Unfortunately, I'd forgotten that KSP autosaves. So my tests last week locked my save to 1.10. Needless to say, that didn't work out.
I worked on my last A3 mission footage, but I did not finish it. It's weirdly difficult. 17 days after it was recorded, I lost my home and everything I owned. And I've not been able to play in a session since. It's kind of depressing to work on.
But I want to finish it for my own sake, because it has been sitting around for 18 months now. Maybe processing it will help me.
The really great thing is that it wasn't a super exciting mission. It was fun, and I enjoyed it, but it was not an epic. I intend to make it public. Kind of wonder what people will say when I do.
In any case, I promised Kenshi. And I deliver.

This is, sadly, not final. I still need to go back and do one more pass for timings. I'm unhappy with how about half of the cuts rendered. Most people are probably completely oblivious, but I'm insane, and I really hate 1-2 frame timings on that render because I am out of my mind.
I prepped a whole long dissertation on why it took so long, because it's technically very simple, and I admit that, but I think I'll hold it back until I finalize it. I just hope that what I have captures the narrative I'd hoped to pull out of it. But, like I said, I'll say more about that once it's "done-done."
Anyway... I also promised to reveal a Terrible Secret this week.
I am a longtime Touhou fan. If you follow my twitter and were very astute, you might have caught that from the top 25 list I posted a while back. I've not played the most recent couple of games, but I've spent many, many hours playing the series. If you're unaware: it's a series of bullet hell games about girls in hats made by one (1) Japanese guy that really likes beer, and it has been ongoing for ~20 years. He is (self admittedly) a terrible artist, but they're really quite fantastic and wholesome games (and a bunch are even on steam now!)
Anyway, it dawned on me that I probably still had some runs backed up... and I did. I was never a great player. I played on Normal, because I'm only human. I've only 1CCed (1 credit cleared, AKA not continuing) Eiyashou and Fuujinroku. I know I have the Fuujinroku 1CC backed up somewhere (it's gross and embarrassing, but it was 1CC, and I will post it if people want it.) I think I may have the Eiyashou run on one of my ancient CD backups, but... god, could my ego take it.......
With that very weird preamble out of the way: I pulled this, which was my first successful no bomb/no death clear of Fuujinroku stage 5. Added some text commentary to my near death experience. To be clear: I'm of middling skill.

If people actually enjoy this, I could pull more. I have more backups.
Or... god help me... I could play the new games. Is that interesting? Do people like that? I dunno.
I am very appreciative that you all still stick with me in the meantime. It legitimately improves my life.
Things are... rough. I actually have another irl video in the works that will probably depress everyone. It's low priority, though, so I basically just have it very roughed out in Vegas. I'll wrap it up, though.
Planning on another update in the next week or two.
On the current agenda: Finalizing Kenshi, probably the A3 vid since that'll only take 3 hours to finish... maybe my 1CC Touhou if people actually want it (god please no it's so messy and gross god no.) Still working on YIR stuff very lowkey. I will finish it and you guys will be like "oh, cool, nice" and my brain will explode lol.
I really, really, really want KSP to get squared as well. I need like, at most, two evenings to record the shit I need to wrap that project up, but waiting on mods is rough. You guys... you have no idea... how much... KSP... footage. It's... There's so much. So much.
Take care. These are tough times.
