Boring(?) update

I'd hoped to have something good this week, but I don't.

I'm still working on KSP stuff.

I have about ~40 hours of time-lapsed footage at this point. But I sort of need something to anchor that. So my plan is to do a cinematic video, and then a follow up series of time-lapse stuff.

Only problem with the cinematic is... I'm having to relearn to fly Budgie Smuggler Mk II with full cargo bays. And at a whopping 7FPS, it takes about an hour before I learn whether or not my flight profile works or not. So it's a bit slow going there, but I think I'm getting close.

The premise of the renewed KSP series is basically to start from scratch.

Step 1 is to establish a strong relay network, which Budgie Smuggler is well suited for.

Step 2 is to launch a much larger master relay sat into geostationary orbit. Which I've taken one stab at and, while I technically succeeded at a test, it wound up on the wrong side of the planet because my hohmann transfer burn was very wrong. :(

I have ideas for another big interplanetary craft... Especially given the new stock hinges. Because, boy golly, let me tell you, I've had Big Ideas that required stock hinges.

I've actually not even touched the new parts yet, because I'm focused on trying to finish this dumb project, but I am excited to start messing around with them.

As far as YIR stuff goes: my repeated entreaties to google have gone ignored. Nobody seems interested in the fact that I have an account that I can't actually get data from.

My only option at this point seems to be data recovery. Which, honestly, I'm willing to do (I had great shit.) It's just expensive. Going to try to save for it, because, even beyond YIR stuff, I want that footage for myself.

As far as I know, nobody has ever attempted anything like that on the scale ST plays in Arma. Aside from me, because I am crazy.

I believe I've linked both here before, but I'm not sure I've ever mentioned that the former was a direct prototype for the latter. I dunno, some people like inside baseball like that.

People ask me sometimes, and to be clear: I'm still in ST. It's just that my current living situation precludes the possibility of playing, running sessions, or making missions.

My current situation has truncated a lot of projects, honestly. I'd really wanted to do something for Automata, since that is, surprisingly, one of my favorite games of all time. But I'm not in a place where any sort of VO or environmental audio is possible, so that scuttles a lot.

But, yeah, my current focus is the KSP stuff. I know I said months ago, "I'm sure it will be done shortly." But, because I'm an ass, the scope of what I want to do constantly expands. So "I'll just do a time-lapse" has become "I guess now I need to make like 8 vids, and at least 2 need to have actual production."
