Update-update
Added 2019-04-19 14:41:33 +0000 UTCSo I've spent most of the past week or so working on data recovery in some way or another.
Having finally gotten another disk, I was able to try some additional options previously unavailable.
It won't mount in windows period.
Attempting to mount it in debian results in a "run chkdsk in Windows" message and the disk remains inaccessible.
Because it won't properly mount, ddrescue doesn't work.
So I tried dumping the disk using cat, but that ultimately failed.
Here's a video of me cating the data and piping it through tee, because that's funny.

Not shown: my sad noise when 30 seconds later it failed.
I'm going to give ddrescue one more shot next week, but I'm like 99% sure that, short of sending it to a recovery place for $$$, the disk is gone.
And it's the disk with my YIR project files, and probably about 100GB of irreplaceable footage because I never uploaded it since it was solely intended for the YIR.
Since then, I've been trying to recover my uploads from youtube.
tl;dr is that you can only download 720p compressed video from the youtube video manager. If you want your original files, you have to request an archive of 100% of your channel data from google. This is extremely stupid, but I actually have the space to deal with that now, so I've been attempting to do that. One problem: it's utterly broken, and youtube support refuses to discuss it with me lol.
Here's a thread with extremely good screenshots https://twitter.com/TaconicST/status/1118957271927656448
So until I can get that archive, my YIR is effectively dead. Which is a bummer, because I had so much good shit for it.
I'm going to keep trying, hoping that my angry feedback will lead to a fix.
In the meantime, I'm back on KSP stuff.
Thanks for your support. And your patience.
This year has been... rough. I haven't had a good year since 2010. This one is really grinding down what is left. I've generally been able to laugh at my misfortunes, because a lot of them are legitimately funny, but it's getting hard to laugh.
I know I've been light on content. I do feel bad about that, honestly. But it's a real struggle to get through some days, and what's on the horizon seems grim. Your support has meant a lot in recent months. It has been my only source of income this year. And, honestly, it's a really good thing I have it, because I'm trying to piece myself back together in a really shitty environment after spending basically the past decade being slowly pulled apart. As shitty as these last months have been, they've been downtime I've really needed. Not just from work, but from the ever-present existential dread that permeated ever deeper into me as I descended deeper and deeper into financial ruin.
So I am truly appreciative of the support you guys have shown, and for the fact that you have beared with me. I intend to make up for it with some really cool stuff.
Thanks again.
First wave of KSP stuff is coming soon.
