Chapter 3 :-

Aster blinked. Of all the things the strange girl could've said, she decided to accuse him of being a woman?

"I—what," he stammered, genuinely taken aback by her words. He looked at the red-haired girl. She was now sitting like a curious person, with her hands on her lap and legs over the mud.

"I am a man. A male. A guy!…" he exclaimed, pointing at himself with his left hand's thumb.

The red-haired girl tilted her head like a confused child. "A male?"

"Yes," he responded, "That's right. I am a guy," he added, tapping his chest.

The red-haired girl didn't move, her brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of Aster. "What's your price?" she questioned.

"Wait, what!" Aster exclaimed, his brows raised with confusion. What does she mean by price? Is she a slave trader? he questioned internally. Then, looking again at her muddied body, he discarded the thought.

"What do people call you? I am Friosa, the Flame Dragon." She said, tapping her chest with her right hand.

Aster nodded. "Ahh… that's what you meant. I am Aster…" he began. Then, midway through his sentence, her introduction echoed in his mind. Flame Dragon, he thought, suddenly freezing.

"Tempest!" he yelled, and in an instant, vanished from her sight.

Did she say she was a dragon? he thought, gulping slowly. His back was pressed on the bark of an old tree. A flame dragon at that—they are aggressive, right? Good thing I didn’t piss her off, he added, letting out a quick sigh.

Aster tilted his head up at the tree's branches and looked at it quietly. "I just woke her up…" he whispered, and then began to sweat. She will totally kill me, he added internally.

"Tempest," he murmured again, and with the cold wind enveloping his shoes, he was about to use another burst of it to run far away from her… from that boulder of a dragon.

Friosa looked around herself, scanning the surroundings.

I didn't crush her with my essence, did I? she thought, her eyes tearing just a little. She looked sad—sad for a flame dragon that could destroy a city for disrespect, or dry a lake for fun.

That’s when ice caught her attention. On her right, a tree stump that was previously covered with moss froze. She stood up from the mud, her tears evaporating.

She stopped sobbing and looked sharply at it. It was magic, one that was exclusive to witches and elves in her time, certainly not humans.

"Did she run away from me?" Friosa murmured in disbelief. Then, a small, relieved smile crept across her lips as she whispered with quiet joy, "I didn’t crush her with my life essence.”

She took a step forward in the direction of the tree stump, and the ground beneath her hissed. Golden-red mana enveloped her body from head to toe. She sniffed quickly, her head tilting a little, and with a [Thud], she lunged forward towards her runaway little ice mage.
