Dervish Concept Sketch

I think someone asked for a Dervish. Here's a continuation of "I post all of Bishops art so that he stops bugging me" month. On that subject, for those wondering, all parties involved (except for a few patrons I believe) are happy with me posting design team assets, sometimes including stuff I didn't entirely do myself (I do direct and make hands on edits to everything). This is so guys like Bishop can engage with the fans over his work without having to wait for full release. No intent to mooch off of my team :)
There is a good chunk more that I don't post. Designs, likeart, etc, where an artist requests that I don't spill it all.
Hope that sits well.

Also I'd personally say this month was a bit shy again of the content level I want to deliver, but I at least hit my 4 piece a month minimum. Just got done moving houses. My frail artist hands are about recovered from lifting so many items haha.

Onto next month!

Absolutely stoked to see the Dervish! As an Avalon Hussars player I have a uh, need for those.

Yes yes yes! I would love this mini!!! Hopefully itll be sold individually because i need at least 4.

Andrew McKenna

oh sure, give Anthony and Harri all the attention on my design post, after I went and made up your spiffy Penny for you, at that! Fickle fans, say I! :P

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

*shrugs noncommittally in NDA* Still waiting on the last one to de finished, lol.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

Anthony, I'm in love with this Dervish! It's absolutely amazing, and I hope we get a mini, sooner, rather than later! Now, do a Whitworth and Penetrator, and I'll REALLY be happy! Bradigus did an amazing Penetrator concept sketch!

Joshua Bressel

Thanks for the replies Anthony, Bishop. Would love to see more of one of my favorite rides.

Burning Chrome

Ray at Catalyst has already said that the Goliath and Scorpion are already on the docket

Robert Moore

Cant stop looking at this beauty. And i cant help it to stop think about this one simpsons moment... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKiLfH3DVGc

Swen Decker

*cough*Goliath*cough*

Swen Decker

Soooooooooooooo when's the next KS project? :)

Jarod DePastene

I eagerly await the treatment this team can give my favorite apartment-building-with-guns....

Jarod DePastene

Well let’s see that good old mech footage!

Robert Moore

just checked, head size remained the same, just got lifted a little higher. And when I get around to doing an action pose drawing, I'll probably do one launcher closed, one open. IDK maybe Anthony can have that done on the official lineart assignment? I dunno how many people actually realize it has covers in the drawing.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

I see where you coming from. But I mean.. end of the day, just like people.. sometimes you got a big head, sometimes a pinhead. If I am remembering correctly my initial take had the head sunk in further, at least, don't recall if it was smaller besides that, but the consensus from the bosses was *Scot's brogue* HEAD! So I gave em more head. Or Anthony did. I forget who did the final head proportion tweaks. Probably Anthony.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

def need my Jagermech.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

Jagermech, as well.

Jarod DePastene

I asked, too. :) Lots of people did, actually.

Jarod DePastene

Now we just need to see the Javelin, Quickdraw, Cicada, Clint, Hermes II, Whitworth, Vindicator, Charger, and at least 3025 will be complete

Robert Moore

FINALLY :)

Jarod DePastene

Yet, the 50-ton Enforcer looks like a 50-ton mech due to its proportions, especially the head/cockpit. While I know the Dervish is 5 tons heavier, this current image looks “smaller/off” somehow and I believe it’s due to the size of the head/cockpit. If it was reduced in size only, I believe it would convey a better sense of scale. Just my opinion of course. Maybe the 3-d image/mini will give me a different perspective. Fire starter, Vulcan are spot on. Looking forward to more!

Burning Chrome

At only 55tons it's not a very big mech, so even with a head this size the cockpit isn't super roomy just yet.

Anthony Scroggins

Overall great, but the head seems a bit too big throwing off the overall scale IMHO. I like the missile port covers. Be neat to see a pic with them closed.

Burning Chrome

I was assigned to a Dervish back on the 3030 MUSE. I'd never paid them much attention until then. Imagine my growing horror as I found ammo in location after location, the thing is a death trap!

Michael Prescott

Haha. We live at the whims of our bosses mech boners.

Anthony Scroggins

I'd enjoy doing a Mauler when we get there.

Anthony Scroggins

Great work. Well done!

As for the future, any of the "Old 55" that aren't done yet, the Chameleon, and the Merlin would be most welcome for me. Hatamoto and Mauler/Daboku would definitely be cool too.

Mitchell Berthelson

I was the one who asked and it is GLORIOUS. And yeah, Doomguy vibes. The only thing they fear is your Infernos. :)

Mitchell Berthelson

Shimmy, what all do we have to do for the Hatamoto-Chi? Where do I need to send the Sushi, Tempura, or Ramen to?

Scott

Awesome! Any chance of a Mauler and/or Hatamoto?

James Bixby

Yes daddy, gimme more!

Joe Wright

Really dig it. It is a really good upgrade of the original while still similar enough to immediately read as a dervish. It has just a sprinkle of MWO flavor without being to far in that camp IMO (which I'm definitely not a fan of for all mechs).

I think your player should be reading this thread...looks like he's not alone after all. Dervish Lovers Anonymous meeting going on in here? ;)

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

that's the general consensus of most of the 40 tonners. Dervish IMO about the only thing I think is a bit off is a ton of ammo for each SRM. I get some folk like to grab a ton of Boom and a ton of Inferno, but an extra ton of armor woulda also been mighty nice, lol.

Benjamin Myers (Bishop Steiner)

Finally, some love to my fav med mech!!! Dervy’s been hitting the gym. Big shoulder, forearm, and chest gainz!!! Also, looks like it has a baby archer torso resting inside of its chest. I love everything about it. Give me a company’s worth!!

Makes me finally want a Dervish, to be honest. This, Whitworth, Clint, and Hermes and Hermes II are in that "If they were only *slightly* different" range for me.

Robert Schuster

It now looks much tougher than it actually is. Love it.

Kanrei13

It's going to take alot of convincing for me to not call it the "Doom guy" mech

Reikenan

Dude, if your team and employer don’t mind, I don’t mind. I love getting a behind-the-screens look of cool BattleTech stuff

F&€¥ yes! I can see dervishes baby, dervishes everywhere! I think i need a lance of them…

Swen Decker

Much improved

Jeffery Smith

Glad the forearms got turned into a snub weapons port. :D

Jordan G Roberts

I love the Dervish both on the table and from a miniature stand point. The original miniature is hard to beat in my mind and Bishop’s done a fine job with the retake.

Dan Hegarty

Yessss… now we just need the Whitworth…

One of my players is the world's only Dervish fan. Nice work.
