Galahad Concept Sketch

Time for another redesign. The Galahad / Glass Spider.

I think between the Rifleman we've got, the *cough* Rifleman IIC, and this, doing the Galahad seems a little silly when we can slap double gauss on the IIC. But here we are. Hopefully someone wanted this :)

I ran a mix of Rifleman, VMI Galahad, and a bit of the phoenix redesign into it. The result I think looks really sleek, for its lineage.

This design was active well through the Davion Civil War era!

Joshua Bressel

Well with this one you can play early clan or Operation Klondike

Robert Moore

Oh for sure, the Rifleman IIC is gonna have more of it's unique bits. The more top mounted head, the less diameter but thicker sensor dome, etc.

Anthony Scroggins

Initially it read more Phoenix, which also goes low, but I get what you mean. Once the curves went in the resemblance shot up.

Anthony Scroggins

I would have preferred something more akin to ye olde Hegemony Galahad, but this is neato too.

Looks great, particularly the arms. My only complaint goes back to your logic of differentiating the Marauder, Marauder II, and Marauder IIC. All three of those designs look so incredible, that it is a bit disappointing to see how similar this is to the base Rifleman. Hopefully if you get to redesign the Rifleman IIC, you are given a bit more freedom to change things around.

Ryan de Haas

The cockpit is too low, imo. If you set it higher, the visual language would make it less of a copy of the Rifleman.

Would love to see your take on the Osprey and the Talon.

Jeffery Smith

Boom ckaka laka

Trevor R.N.

But word of god overrides everything

James Bixby

I mean, not according to tro 3055 or 75 which both say the Glass Spider was directly descended from the Galahad. 75 even states explicitly the first glass spiders were Galahad’s stripped to the chassis and updated

James Bixby

Hell yea!

Kanrei13

Yep.

Anthony Scroggins

Different mechs, maybe CGL will want the other some day.

Anthony Scroggins

Hah.

Anthony Scroggins

Beautiful mech. Would love to have 3 or 4.

Jeffery Smith

Will this be showing up in a Rec Guide?

Kanrei13

ehhhh, I would have preferred more reference to the Star League era design from TRO 3075. the original just struck me as a second Rifleman IIC

James Bixby

I was wondering if we would get a redo of this member of the 88 club. Think you can try doing a Thresher or a Grizzly? BTW the 88 club is for any mechs packing 2 or more Gauss rifles and is a reference to the PAK 88 for anyone wondering.

Tyler Erickson

The Glass Spider was always such a bizarre concept to me, it's just a Mad Dog C, which they'd put out in the previous TRO, but worse. Anyway, it looks really good, but I'll have all my second-line fire-support slots for Rifleman IICs!

David Razi

Huh, this is the first I'm hearing of this mech, but looks good regardless! Now you've got me curious what a Rifleman IIC would look by comparison.

Malintus

Looks great

Taylor Shead

That existed previously

Taylor Shead

I like most of the design, what's with the giant satellite/dome?

Andrew McKenna

We're covering a few IICs ;)

Anthony Scroggins

As I'm told, the Galahad is built out of a Rifleman factory, so it's the same type of lineage. Rifleman with a different name.

Anthony Scroggins

Good update of what's a rather plain 'Mech. Can I take it then that there's a Rifleman IIC in the works?

Alex F

Darn, I was hoping for the in-universe OG Galahad, but this is still really nice. I love the chunky looking gauss arms, with perforations, paired with the perforated calves, together they really make this thing pop.

First thought: "Oooh, Star League mech! Wait, that looks like a Rifleman. There's another Galahad?" After catching up on my reading, my second thought is that it looks very cool, but more like a descendant of the Rifleman than the original Galahad. I think that would work better if there weren't another clan descendant to the Rifleman. The dish doesn't look like a silly hat though, so it's a successful design!

Carlos Sempere

I am the someone who wanted this. Haha Wonderful rendition.

Jordan G Roberts

slick

Pew pew! ...someone had to say it.
