I believe this group shot has grown about 50% since the last one. I did try compositioning one between then and now but it wasn't quite looking nice experimenting with 6 rows. I stuck with 4 rows this time, and only had to put the Rifleman with the mediums to even things out a bit.
Next time I need to either go to 5-6 rows (breaks up the weight classes messily), or start splitting things up into an IS shot and a Clan shot. Which way would you prefer it?
Also think, this group shot still has quite a bit of growing to do. Several more packs of mechs down the line.
Spy a few mechs in there you may not have seen yet :)
by house and by clan would be cool, probably take a little more work though.

Maybe IS + base box and Clan + base box for a sense of scale to mins in hand.

I counted 73 sculpts. What was the total re-sculpts? Around 92 or so?

The mass is irrelevant and not the same as the size. By that logic of the mass determining the size, it would need another large gun shaped weight on the left arm to be balanced. Since it doesn't determine size, we can assume there are smaller weights in the left arm to counter balance the PPC. Size and shape does affect balance however. Hold an 8 foot PVC pipe by the end and try to control it's movement. Strap it to your arm and it's easier to control. Move a portion behind the elbow and it becomes even easier to control. Sure you can redistribute the weight to counter the effect, but this is also about aesthetics and a large long gun like this just looks better if it's got a small portion behind the elbow to at least look like it's trying to compensate for the long barrel. Regardless, none of the images we've see so far give a clear look at that right arm, so I'm still optimistic about that arm mount looking just as amazing as the rest of the model. Hence the request for a turntable on this design. *hint hint nudge nudge* ;)

Go for separate IS and Clan.
That should thin out the numbers and if you have to further separate go for rows of four in a (hopefully very) long parade line :)

The KS has an update today with the sketch for the Wolffound on it.
2020-05-13 02:25:35 +0000 UTC
Did the PPC get scaled back a little for the group render here?
It's kind of hard to tell, but looks a little smaller than the design sketch that was put up. But the wide angle makes it a little difficult to judge as well.

These models are also forming the basis of mechs featured on book covers and promotional art in the future from what I can see

We're definitely making TRO lineart of all of them :)

The PPC is indeed still big compared to old art, but we couldn't keep it looking MPL sized when other lights/mediums show a new consistent PPC scale.
Worst case if you still don't like the consistency it shouldn't be too hard to chop it off and put a smaller barrel on.

Wow, what an awesome image, thanks for sharing mate! I absolutely love the work you and your team have done...such an unbelievably excellent upgrade to the aesthetics of all these models, and to have them all in-scale with each other is a fantastic bonus. I can't wait to get these plastic mini's in my hand, and I truly hope that there are plans to use these images in the TRO's, it would be a criminal waste of a wonderful resource not to...

The PPC on the Panther still looks long, but I think I can see that it does still extend back from the elbow so it's just... big. When you get around to showing off the 3d render for it can you please include a turntable for it. The Panther is one of my favorite mechs and I use it a lot, please stomp out my only concern on this mech with a gorgeous 360 turn table. Regardless of small criticisms here and there, every single model is amazing overall so great job to everyone involved in these.

I would say do a clan spread and IS spread organized 1 weight class to a row

a Clan & IS spread would be neat, though the more i see the more i think i'll need a bigger case.

I think the line up should be blackjack, hatchet man, Phoenix Hawk! LOL! They all look amazing, can't wait to see the Wolf hound, I hope you go back to the Anubis looking head of the first Wolfhound mini!

Clan/IS split for the next one - a nice change of pace, and better matches how the mech packs are sold.
2020-05-12 14:37:06 +0000 UTC
TPTB decided on her other ride... double Daishi in back row, right behind the MADs.
2020-05-12 14:15:03 +0000 UTC
No Black Widow Warhammer? I notice you got doubles for the MAD, Archer and TImby....

one more vote for Clan/IS seperation. I dont want any spheroids next to my clan mech´s except burning
2020-05-12 12:37:08 +0000 UTC
another call to separate by clan / IS. getting far too cluttered and too wide to use as a desktop pic. less is more (better).
2020-05-12 12:28:30 +0000 UTC
Okay, so if you’ve got the Blackjack, Jenner, and Panther that just leaves the Wolfhound to complete the mech pack I’m most looking forward to...
(As for future big pictures I think splitting clan and IS makes the most sense, it improves clarity a lot.)
2020-05-12 12:07:49 +0000 UTC
It's still pretty clear what the front facing is though. Any mech that has a torso aimed near a corner, also has it's feet equally facing another corner, making a clear front edge between them.
You can also easily rebase them. Not sure why you'd get rid of a mech just because of the factory facing.
Anthony Scroggins
2020-05-12 11:39:53 +0000 UTC
The mechs facing corners make me sad. Especially the Banshee, 'cause man do I love that mech. The one Marauder isn't even pretending, but luckily I don't need two Marauders, so I'll pass that one on to my brother. Still a fantastic collection.

If broken by IS/Clan then the rows wont be so long that evening them out matters as much.
I think it looks ok in this case with just one row being off length. When they're all vastly different lengths then it looks messy. Luckily since my last attempt we added a lot of assaults.

Anthony Scroggins
2020-05-12 07:43:15 +0000 UTC
Obviously you've seen them as they come, but it is an important thing that most longer time players should be able to identify these from their silhouettes.

2020-05-12 07:42:36 +0000 UTC
I was wondering what you'd do with the Blackjack! I like what you guys have done with its upper torso and arms. I'd vote to separate the Clan and IS mechs. Still makes things a little awkward with so few light mechs and we don't have any 40-ton honorary light mechs to group with them... I'm totally fine with not breaking them by weight class as long as they're in weight order.
Carlos Sempere
2020-05-12 07:41:00 +0000 UTC
Wait wait wait a second... is that the Panther and Jenner 1st row, left 2 most mechs?
2020-05-12 07:36:56 +0000 UTC
And the best (or worst) part is that I could easily name them all
Alex F
2020-05-12 07:35:45 +0000 UTC
It's looking kinda crowded as is now. I would say definitely break it up for Clan vs IS. Also happens to fit the theme of the KS rather nicely as well.
2020-05-12 07:34:09 +0000 UTC
I would prefer a separate IS and Clan shots. I don't like the idea of 5-6 rows as that puts too many things into one picture.
