Black Knight Concept Sketch

Time for another Star League mech, the Black Knight. (King Crab might be soon).

Those who have read Shattered Fortress saw a glimpse of this design. I wanted to pull off the extreme humanoid look for the grogs at least once :)
I rarely find full humanoid looks appropriate for modern Battletech, but the BK is one that has a good reason, selling the knights armor look. It also goes well with some of the Star League mechs looking a little more high tech in one way or another.

Now I shall resume our regular gun-platform programming :)

Design is solid, I can't wait to see the pose.

I agree. The legs stuck out to much on the ball attachments of the original. This tighter fit is better looking and looks more solid.

Tyler Erickson

Honestly, my favorite iteration of the Black Knight is the 3145, but this is fantastic! The lower legs could be a TAD thicker, but that's splitting hairs.

Joshua Bressel

I didn't care for it too much before but now I'm really digging it. Personally, I think this would look fantastic if the BK held it's right arm tight to the body and barrel to the sky.

Christopher Eastwood

I love it! It pulls in some of the redesign work and doesn't look like a goof. I especially love what you did with the legs.

Great job! I love it!

Heavyguard

Original was terribly awkward , this one is 200% improvement) Perhaps the PPC needs scaling down a bit?

Very very very nice!

Steven Cross

I love this Black Knight. I usually find it to be decent enough mech but prefer other things... but damn.. this is gorgeous.

Lexikon

Very nice, though I think the PPC shouldn't stick out that far from the arm, it would make punching with it dangerous to the weapon mount. Arm's should perhaps be a little bigger to match the rest of the body?

Trevor R.N.

Perfect. I love seeing Star League 'Mechs with added curviness.

David Razi

Finally a Black Knight with decent hips. Great rework!

Good stuff. I see a little Red Reaper in there too. Will definitely want more than one.

Mitchell Berthelson

That's something I'd like to do, but they're a less economical item to have made so we'll have to see.

Anthony Scroggins

It was looking a bit goofy with a bigger head, that's where I started and shrunk it down from there.

Anthony Scroggins

It is big, but it's not Behemoth big :)

Anthony Scroggins

The PPC looks big at first look, but I think if it were to more toward the underside of the arm it would fit better. Also the I would like to see more of a raised flare on the forehead as opposed to the rounded forehead. Both minor personal aesthetic things for me because I love it overall. The shoulders do look small, but you had mentioned how all the more recent depictions have pauldrons, but the original 2750 TRO had small shoulders and this fits perfectly. Of all the 2750 TRO remodels, I like this one the best so far. I'm glad at least one of them keeps the smooth high tech look of all those classic images. Great job! I look forward to bringing this to the table.

Interesting update. Not bad. BTW any plans for some combat vehicles and Innersphere Powered Armor, like say the Gray Death Scout or Nighthawk suits?

Tyler Erickson

Love it!

Richard Jensen

The helmet design is pure love.

Swen Decker

The only nitpick I have this time is that the head/helmet seems like it could be a tiny bit taller. Great work.

Joe M Emmert

I like it. The PPC on the arm looks a little big right now to me, looks like the depiction of the unmounted AC/20 or a long tom to me.

Paul Mabbott

absolutely gorgeous, I especially like the PPC now actually looking like a Jousting Lance rather then this weird bolted on tumor on the upper arm. AND LOOK! MAJOR JOINTS HAVE ARMOR OVER THEM! (always a small gripe of one of my favorite mechs) that small part between the chest and waist looks perfect for adding another large laser barrel for a "ClanBuster" model can we get an axe in hand just to get a proof of concept?

James Bixby

Looks very cool, definitely not an old man like 2750

Andrew Bethards

My only complaint is the lack of pauldrons.

Chris

Wow! I actually like a Black Knight! This has been one of those designs that I have wanted to like for so long, but just never have... but this one looks sharp man! I do agree with one of the above comments in the shoulders looking a smidge undersized - but it also could be because Black Knight clearly never skips leg day. I think if the upper torso was increased in size by 2-3% while the legs were left the same - it would be perfection. Also - is there any chance the final sculpt could have the head locked down facing forwards? That armored cowl has just gotta be locked down into the "charge the enemy" position... it looks SOOOO GOOD. I seriously cannot say good job enough on this one - it has always been a mech that SHOULD be SOOO COOL and has always looked dopey. NICE work.

I think it's a fine balance between FASA's TRO 2750 sillyness and WizKids MW4 inspired sculpt which would become our 5H. I also like actually being able to see the guns, which was an issue with a lot of 2750 art.

Kanrei13

I'll accept that opinion. Though in a brawl we know who's winning :P

Anthony Scroggins

I think this looks more intimidating than the atlas. It's like it was carved out of a cliff face and the fact that it is faceless just adds to the foreboding it gives off

Nyxus

Gotta get your kills on cam.

Anthony Scroggins

Yeah while it'd be easy to keep the ML's flush, the LL scales we're going for lately would not be ideal to shrink that much. Also I think the laser blisters on the body look cool.

Anthony Scroggins

It's just a flesh wound!

Dude's got a GoPro taped to his helmet.

That mech is just.... mmh! I cant wait to get my hands on it

Nyxus

The curvy legs stand out among all the new designs! I really like it, though, especially the head. If there’s any awkwardness it’s in combining “full humanoid” with “torso lasers” but I’m not sure there’s a better solution. Doesn’t really matter, it’s still awesome.

Carlos Sempere

Cool looking dude!

Henning Boessler

Nice mix of the 2750 and 3145 versions there. Great work!

Alex F

Gotta have that horseman lance look.

Anthony Scroggins

Probably a common feeling when we've had huge shields and pauldrons since MW4 20 years ago. If I beef them up a lot they eat the upper arms, and I didn't want to lower the elbows to compensate. The original has dinky arms in general, so it's a hard balance to hit.

Anthony Scroggins

Nice to see the large PPC.

Steve McNabb

Looking good! Only note is I feel like the shoulders are looking a bit weak.
