Victor Concept Sketch

Here's one I'm sure plenty will enjoy, at least you Fedrats will :P
This is one of the smoother coming together designs I've worked on for a bit, as I included Alex Iglesias' great looking Lu Wei Bing in the reference pile. I worked backwards from that piece, decimating down the details a bit and working in more classic Victor details.
Wasn't much else to it.
Enjoy.
Oh.... I'm in love! This is just STUNNING! It is perfect!

This is a great new model - again! Thanks for taking care of the Victor - this is one of my favourites in the assault class and even if it´s not that grand in 3025 I love the Stealth one and the Davion variant with the UAC20. Looking forward to painting and playing!

I have no criticisms on this one. Looks good. Stamp it. Ship it. Great job!

What? A Victor that's not hunching on itself from getting punched in the belly? Preposterous!

I can agree that the proportions of the legs look just a tish funny - maybe the thigh gap? Overall I like it though... I like the LWB more (I get all kinds of hot and bothered about elbowless gun arms) - but I think that your rendition will look super awesome once it gets into some really cool dynamic pose. Great work.

Theodore Kurita will look awesome rocking around in this

I miss the Death Star Trooper Hat...

It'll be fine, they have a definitive scale to follow now, in relation to each other, every mech will be the height they should be.

Looks good. Just promise it wont be as small as previous miniatures.

I won't be sad if the busy is toned down some, but it's not like I'm going to mind fielding it.

It's good, but it just looks a little off, unbalanced perhaps...

alternatively, maybe if the lower legs were just a skosh wider, it would have a similar balancing effect? *shrugs*

About only critique I'd make is...maybe 10% thinner pelvis/thigh gap. Overall proportions are good but the codpiece feels just a skosh overwide, IMO.
But then... Davion's do tend to flee the need to overcompensate, so I guess it might be appropriate? :P

Haha yeah it's kind of a Combine/Fed/Cap mech over time, but Feds gonna Fed.

I think the original has about the same amount of line spam, I just made them actually mean something instead of being lazy spam :D
I usually do decimate down all the over detailing of the originals, but in this case the mech was big enough to support more of it.
I think that's a common thing people forget about the oldies, a lot of them were waaay over lined without having much actual substance.

I like it, looking good. Even though this is just an early view, I would heavily reduce all the lines. All those lines and separations of armor just give it that MWO look where a small laser in the right spot can take off 20 points of armor. More solid pieces of armor would go a long way. Since this won't change the actual look of the mech, this type of improvement could be implemented. Haha really thinking about it, MWO mechs remind me of Jenga, one wrong piece comes off and the whole thing comes apart.

Remember when the Victor was a Combine 'Mech? Me neither. But this is very nice work in capturing and updating the design

I did it! :D

Yeah for the most part I tried to make sure each shape/detail was Victor before it is Lu Wei. But when they both shared something is where I mixed it together.

Yup, thats a Victor.

Looks nice!
(The smartass in me wishes the model looks like it's composed of parts of other mechs, just so we could have Victor Frankenmech. 😁)

I can see what people are saying about it looking a little wide in the hips and legs, but overall, I like it a lot. The rounded shoulders and calves are still there, crucially. I like the original head a little more than that of the Lu Wei Bing/MWO Victor, but they’re not miles apart.

You're free to give your opinions, and for the sake of your understanding with how this projects works and it's aims, I give you the counter reasons to why I haven't done the things you wish. I've definitely taken what you said into consideration while I was working on the design. I'm always looking very deliberately at how things are proportioned, more than most people I think.
Anthony Scroggins

Very well, if you don’t want opinions on this stuff, then I guess I’ll stop giving them. I mean no offense by any of this, again, just trying to give feedback that I thought might be taken into consideration. Now I know better.
2020-03-11 00:53:49 +0000 UTC
Lu Wei Bing as a design is several years old, so just as I'm not attached to the Victors original proportions, I'm not attached to the Lu Wei.
Anthony Scroggins
2020-03-11 00:53:33 +0000 UTC
It's already approved by the lore junkies up top. Considering every mech is generally bulked up in our new line I think it's proportional. This is still a fairly light looking assault mech.
Going by your chain of comments on this I think you need to keep that perspective in mind. You seem caught off guard by the changes on this one, but they're simply the same broad changes most mechs are getting during this project. More detail, more beef, toning down of odd parts.
No more stick mechs, especially not assault mechs made of twigs.
Anthony Scroggins
2020-03-11 00:51:22 +0000 UTC
Yes, it’s based on it, and the lore says it looks like a beefier victor. This makes the victor as beefy as the Lu Wei Bing.
2020-03-11 00:50:08 +0000 UTC
Read the lore. Clearly the Lu Wei Bing isn't a Victor, but it's also based on it. You can't deny when you look at it that's it's victor lineage.
Anthony Scroggins

Actually, now that I look at the Lu Wei Bing on sarna, why didn’t you just make this into one? It looks almost exactly like it, with the arm being different. It needs to lose some weight. Instead of the Lu Wei Bing as a reference (which is NOT a victor), use the victor art as a reference, please...
2020-03-11 00:44:26 +0000 UTC
Not sure how I feel about this one... the characteristics that make the victor stand out are changed too much. The limbs should be lankier, the calf pods are shrunk too much, the shoulder guards are shrunk too much, etc. it looks like it got way oversimplified. It looks lanky because it’s armor sucks for it’s weight; this version looks like it got fattened up (not a good thing). This is only the second redo I’ve disliked, and unfortunately both of them are two of my favorites. Please give it some thought before committing to this one.

Nice, I real like the head!
