Warhammer IIC Concept Sketch

This one was a lot of fun to work on :)

Warhammer IIC. A solid design that many love, though I'm not sure how often it's played or that anyone is very set in how they think it should look, so I went in loose on this and aimed to just make a cool 80 ton armored beast of a Warhammer.

Japanese art basis, project phoenix center torso influence, and an injection of my new Warhammer's parts to show lineage.

Question! I think we should go with a cockpit matching the new classic, I also have a "more glass" version. I think the added glass starting making it feel like a Zeus but I'm open to opinion.
Which would you prefer?

Comments

Go with the one on the left, and give me ten of them!

Kanrei13

Less glass makes it look like your new Warhammer redesign. More glass make it look like the Project Phoenix version of the Warhammer IIC.

Steve McNabb

I love them both! the big glass makes me think of the Battle Master though.

Jeffery Smith

Late to the party, but I prefer more glass. However, it's an awesome design regardless

Alex F

Great work. Less glass is better

Less glass. Also, maybe lower the arms a bit?

IBID. The one with less glass looks better. The closed cockpit is more evocative of it progenitor. The larger cockpit makes it look too friendly, the closed in design is far more sinister looking. Very curious to see this design from additional angles.

Definitely the left with the less glass. Both are still great though!

Looking great, I vote for the left one, with less glass.

Mark

Left with less glass

Richard Jensen

Wow, I love how you keeping making all the IIC models look distinct while still being instantly recognizable. I vote for the "less glass" version. It looks more predatory as befitting a Clan mech.

Ryan de Haas

Less glass. Period.

Joshua Bressel

I like the functional nature of the "more glass" cockpit. The "less glass" version looks like it would be harder to maintain situational awareness.

Less glass is the look.

The cockpit matching the new version makes the most sense to show its design can be traced to that older Mech. Go with the left.

Less glass FTW!!! The extra glass makes it look like the love child of a Whammy & a Griffin, that does 2 days of shoulders at the gym.

Definitely the "less glass" version. Like it!

Cookie

I like the left one better

Definitely the cockpit on the left. Looks fantastic though!

My money's on the left cockpit. Terrific job again my goodman!

Maxime C. Rosa

I prefer the left option. Both are nice but the cockpit of the left looks more like the Warhammer. This mech looks great. Great work!

Speaking of feeling like a Zeus, are we going to see new art for that soon for the comparison here? :D

Raymond White

Put me down for the left as well.

Terence Harris

The traditional "classic" version is much more Warhammer. I see the influence of the PP Hammer in the other cockpit, which isn't bad, but I like the classic tie-in better

Raymond White

Left for me

Charles granger

Left.

Swen Decker

One on the left for sure, looks menacing

Less glass for me too ;)

All the models in the kickstarter are going to represent their base variants. Though iirc Ironwind metals will eventually sell other variants afterwards

Malintus

Something to add from my side: Even if i usually don´t like a lot of the IWM mechs the last Warhammer IIC with the heavy large lasers was really good. will the new warhammer iic be, in the final version, similarly dynamic as the Warhammer IIC 8? Any chance to see some Versions with ATMs or Heavy Lasers? I know this is the Clan Invasion, but I really like this stuff!

Henning Boessler

Less glass for me, the shrouded cockpit look is pretty darn iconic for the Warhammer and the Wammy IIC went with this too.

Steven Cross

My only constructive feedback would be that I don't like the 'paddle' Arm gun mounts. But I'd concede they are pretty iconic part of the IIC design. (Just a bit I don't like)

Stewart Spencer

Less glass for me!

Stewart Spencer

Less glass for me!

Stewart Spencer

Definitely prefer the left version...the one with more glass looks odd...

Danny

Looks like a baws! And definitely, I’d prefer the left one

Jakob Fredensborg

Really like the new version here. But, opposed to the majority, i like the right one better with more glass. Especially for painting this will be better.

Henning Boessler

Love it! The combination of classic, Project Phoenix, and newer influences is great and works quite well. Definitely on the side of left/less glass. So long as you're keeping those chunky arms, I think you're good.

Robert Schuster

More glass option strikes me as being more clan like, valuing combat visibility more then protecting the warrior.

James Bixby

Less glass is better. I prefer the left version.

Armored and less glass is better.

Joseph Robles

Left for me. Right looks too Battlemastery.

Ryan Voigt

The glass cockpit looks good on a Zeus, not on a Warhammer.

Right is a Mackie IIC lol. Small glass please!

Paul Mabbott

Less glass is better I'm also not a fan of the airplane nose chest.

jaymes baird

The big boy on the left has my vote.

Tyler Erickson

Less glass is better!

Robert Moore

Less glass

Brian Gaskill

Less glass for sure. Looks meaner. :)

Mitchell Berthelson

The “More Glass” looks too happy. “Hi friends! Would you like to have a Trail of Possession? It will be just swell!”

Andrew Bethards

Also prefer the less (glass) is more version

I'm more into the one on the left :) So less glass

Sapphirus

Wow I really love the one on the left. Really feels like an up-armored, classic. It’s awesome. Only critique I could have of lefty-boi is the “point” on the chest. Would need to see it in 3d, but at first glance it looks... well I don’t know. It’s a question mark.

I actually kinda like more glass, but both are cool.

Damen DeLeenheer

Less glass is my vote

Mark D Booth

Less glass for me.

Less glass for sure

Alexander J De Santis

Less glass, looks mean as fuck!

Less glass

I prefer the left one, too much glass doesn't work as well for this mech.

Less glass.

David

Left, hands down. Glass was always at a premium with the original and I think that look translates best in that particular image.

Left. It looks like someone stuck a B-17’s nose onto a mech, but it also looks more menacing. It’s a solid, brutal design.

Carlos Sempere

I think they are both excellent, the left one though looks really mean. Hope we see the Zeus soon! :)

Left by a landslide! So epic! <3

Jordan G Roberts

I like the one with less glass. It has more of the original warhammer feel to it... As always, you designs are impressive

Armored cockpit definitely looks meaner, and fits perfectly as the IIC of the new Warhammer design. I think you nailed it.

Aaron Stevens

More glass

Lexikon

Less glass for sure. Too much glass in the head and it stops looking like a Warhammer in my opinion.

Zera

If you're thinking of the Phoenix version, it has 2 ATM6 launchers. Original is just one SRM6.

Anthony Scroggins

I think the 'more glass' cockpit makes it start to look a little too much like a Battlemaster, or as you said, Zeus cockpit.

wiski

For painting I like the more glass in the cockpit, but the smaller glass version looks more aggressive to me. I like the carry over of the reseen torso. Either or it is a design.

I like the look of the more open cockpit my selfishness

Brandon Ulick

The less glass version looks tougher, more like the classic design. The more glass version looks more like the Dark Age clicky-tech design.

I prefer the one on the left but I thought the IIc had 2 streak SRM 6 launchers?

Cockpit on the left by far.

The one on the left.

Love it! I'd crap my pants seeing it in front of me lol. Old cockpit better. Left

I would probably say less glass, i.e. left. Honestly, they both look great. Given the Clans would have based it on the Inner Sphere Warhammer, what kind of cockpit did you choose for the regular Warhammer?

The classic cockpit is better.
