Another WIP Shot
Added 2016-04-09 06:02:23 +0000 UTCBeen a while since I first started this piece off. Decided to sit down to it tonight and chip away a little.
This state of progress shows a bit of how I handle background work these days. I start with some rough brush work for basic values and color, then over that I use photo sources (applying a highpass filter to each photo turns them into a nice texture overlay). To finish I will hand paint over all the to pull it together, but here that hasn't happened yet so you can see the effect photo bashing has. This way of working keeps the photos from defining the start or end of your work, but helps add a lot of texture and a touch of realism.

I think something between the ship and the suit would be good. Both are quit Close in tone so that would make it stand out a bit more. Maybe smoke?
