I know some people might say that the remaining episodes feel like torture in regards to their pacing, But i don't fully agree. For years I refused to watch One piece as I have with Naruto (I will eventually watch it as well). The main reason I didn't want to watch One Piece was because I was convinced it was a show just for guys and it was just a typical shonen. It wasn't until 2 years ago that I binged all 1053 episodes that were out at the time I started watching it. And what did it for me was the live action, it convinced me that the show wasn't just a basic shonen; I was very very wrong. I started binging it on March 1st 2023 and it took me about 3 months to catch up, just before Wano ended. I was watching One piece day in and day out 😂. For 3 whole months that's all I was consuming the entire day, even while I was at work!!! As long as no one came in and I had my paperwork done, I was free to do whatever. Tbh I'm lucky that in the 17 years I've been into anime I had not seen a single spoiler to One Piece. So aside from the bits that were included in the live action I had not a single clue of anything else besides Luffy being a stretchy guy. And now being on my second rewatch with you guys, it's been even better! I'm currently working on having my girlfriend watch One Piece (so far she loves it!). Back to my original point 😅 After the time skip, I think the show just continues to get better, specifically the themes. There are times where there are a large amount of back story flash backs that might feel a bit incessant, but it makes sense when the show has been airing for as long as it has; some people need refreshers 😂😂 There are things that you guys have been wanting to see and learn about in the post timeskip One Piece and I am very excited to re-watch it with yall!! I’m very happy that the younger me was wrong about One Piece 🙂‍↕️

the animation studio kind of butchered the post time skip arcs, not in quality but with pacing. I'm sure they did this to give Oda time to write so there's no reason for you guys to watch One piece episode by episode. Pre-time skip we used to argue one pace or not, but for Post-time skip most people will agree that one pace is the best way to watch. In fact One Pace started because of Post-time skip arcs. 700 episodes of forced dragging is torture to go through and it made me quit one piece for a few years.

Also be sure to watch 517-522 in OG. It’s such a great stretch of episodes 🤭🤭 i recommend that to be a binge 😁 Don’t watch the remake at all, it cuts out sooo much canon. Also I saw someone comment that they watched the next arc in one pace and it had really bad cuts, a hard watch for them. I will leave it up to Jack, but I really don’t think we need one pace until 2+ arcs from now. I’ve watched many reactors and all of them watches in og and still loved it. If the cuts are that bad, it’s best to use one pace for the arc that does really need it. I don’t even think we will use one pace for a whole arc like we did in pretimeskip. We will definitely be going back in and forth from og.

I’ve always agreed with Cannon that Luffy feels pain from normal blunt attacks. Maybe not as much pain as a normal person would, but there are so many clear examples of Luffy wincing and looking beat up from normal attacks. Maybe I’m wrong, though, and that’s just an inconsistency 🤷🏽

also what are we talking about in regards of when one piece will end, we're literally in the final saga, we finished one arc in it and currently in the second one. who knows how many arcs will be in this saga, people we're guessing 1 or 2 more after the on we're currently at. in regards to the anime's decision to making it seasonal it's actually better. we'll be getting way better paced seasons, chopping down the run the runtime so we wont get another monstrosity like DR. and if we're getting 2 seasons a year it's even better. if the manga ends in the next 3 years the anime will follow soon enough. so i don't see it as them milking it rather than them preparing for its end 💔💔 people referring to how long you guys will be watching one piece is referring to the pace you guys are going in

The anime sucks post timeskip and gets worse with pacing which reduces the quality, but the story itself gets more peak. The anime arcs are literally significantly longer than the manga arcs especially in post timeskip which speaks volumes about how Toei butchered it - the episode count literally over takes the manga chapter count in most arcs it’s so bad

My favorite character in One Piece, pre or post timeskip is Luffy. He's also my favorite MC in all animes. As for the Fan Letter, it should be after episode 522. And do not watch the remake for Fishman Island please. Edit: And Post-timeskip One Piece is amazing. Sure, the pacing isn't great, but it's not like it's been consistently great pre-timeskip either. If anything, I fell deeper for One Piece after the timeskip.

I will say just like with Mantra how not everyone's mantra was the same in Skypiea it's the same for Haki. Not everyone has both observation and armament. Both can also be used for different things or to sense different things. Koby for example was more similar to Aisa who could hear people's pain and suffering when they were fighting where as when Rayleigh showed Observation Haki it was more similar to Enel. So the base explanation is simple, however applying it to you as a person or your fighting style takes skill. I equate Haki closer to qi/ki. I guess you could also say it's like naruto's sage mode. Also the six powers is not Haki i think that's straight martial arts.

With regards to the One Piece Fan Letter, you need to wait just a little bit longer because it contains spoilers. I can understand why people would want you to wait, but it feels super unnecessary to wait imo, you'll mainly just be missing out on some feeling of nostalgia that people who are caught up felt, but its ABSOLUTELY PEAK and you will LOVE IT right now. I actually think it'll hit better because the current story will be more fresh in your minds. You are going to have people begging you to watch it endlessly and I can't wait to see your reaction. It is also a little taste of what modern One Piece animation looks like, which I think you guys will love!!

Congrats on reaching the time-skip Geks! I can't wait to watch McKay's animation arc, because I think he's going to be in love with it once he makes it to the latter half of the post-timeskip! (Hindsight merchant warning) Honestly, I think that overall you will all be ecstatic with the latter half of the post-timeskip, it's just that it takes a second to really slam you in the face. One Pace is definitely needed for the first couple of arcs imo, but I'm very anti-One Pace once you make it to the penultimate saga. The post-timeskip is very much a more narrative focused story compared to the pre-timeskip, which has its advantages and disadvantages (especially near the beginning) but the crescendo of the plot becomes something that pre-timeskip One Piece won't be able to touch imo. Can't wait to watch y'all continue your journey! And I'm definitely down for some special videos during this timeskip!

A pre-timeskip One Piece stream would be awesome. Perfect way to do any character/arc/moment rankings and discuss theories for post-timeskip. But most important is to read through the Pre-TS Cover Stories (11 in total, will take no more than 30-40 minutes to read through) as they are all canon. Some set up future plots/characters, some resolve past plots/characters, and one of them (⚡⚡⚡) is crucial knowledge for the overall story that it might even change the way you look at the One Piece universe as a whole.

I feel like i’m in the minority here but guys you don’t need to one pace until you get to the really badly paced arc (💃🏽) of post-timeskip. With my journey i tried to one pace from the next island arc, cause that’s what i’d seen online, and the cuts were so significantly jarring and very choppy that i had to switch back. It’s not edited well. Every reactor i’ve seen has watched the og show, even Haylo and Kiss are not going to one pace at all and i’ve seen no complaints from their viewers. The pacing of the next few arcs is not worse than anything the geks have seen pre-timeskip except again for the really really bad paced arcs (💃🏽🎂) that’s when i one paced the show and it’s edited very well. But please do not watch the remake especially!! This is just my humble opinion but i trust Jack to do whatever he thinks makes sense.

Just a correction, anyone can learn the first 2 types of haki but not conquerors haki, you need to be born with it unlike the other 2 types (I think yall missed this and Jack may have misunderstood) you can’t unlock it unless you’re born with it and it has something to do with your spirit/type of person you are, so no not anyone can unlock it at a moment of near death (unless of course they were “born” with it)

Slight Spoilers Do you think Mihawk knows about Shusui? Seeing Zoro at the end there made me think of that question. Particularly because he mentions his own sword, Yoru, being a black blade. And with how legendary Shusui is, I wonder if he knows about it and if so why he never questioned it. Maybe he doesn't care but as a swordsman I would think its gotta be a big deal or at the very least interesting.

I think due to Luffy growing up in the forest and training with Ace and Sabo and also consistently being beaten by Garp, he gained a high tolerance for pain. His devil fruit also probably lessened the damage/pain he received from regular attacks due to it being distributed evenly. I believe his body is still affected by the pain, but mentally he ignores it as much as he can bear to or until his body forcibly shuts down. Now with armament haki, the attacks negate his devil fruit and he is taking true damage.

I think the best explanation I have for the pain argument is that the pain is just distributed. Unlike most people who would feel the pain of a punch exactly where they were punched and the skin below, Luffy's damage is more spread out across the area where he received the hit.

Favourite pre-time skip villian: Aokiji I love an antagonist with nuance and mystery as to what their objectives are, and from the moment we meet him all the way to the end of Robin's backstory, we are told that this is a dangerous person, but not necessarily 'evil' like the other admirals. His ability to recognize the evil acts of the Navy and sometimes appose it, like when he saved Robin, is why I like him and think hes an interesting character. I may be a bit biased as things get more interesting post-time skip, but he's still a cool juxtaposition to normal Navy behaviour at this point in the story, and especially to that bum Garp 🙄.

The force is definitely the closest comparison of a fictional power system. And Oda definitely did have some form of haki planned out for a long time. The term Haki was first mentioned by Blackbeard in jaya(2002), and in the first chapter of one piece(1997) we see shanks intimidate the seaking to which later Oda clarifies as being conqeror’s haki. For reference the manga chapters of this episode batch came out in 2011

Favourite pre-time skip character: Zoro Besides being obviously the coolest of the straw hats, Zoro is genuinely THE day 1. A lot of people say that Zoro doesn't have much of a character arc, which is such a shame because I think Zoro's character arc is one that is the most integral to the straw hat pirates themselves. Think of day 1 Zoro, and Zoro now, how much he and his conviction has changed thanks to Luffy and the straw hats. Baratie is where Zoro solidified his dedication to Luffy and became someone who would make the hard decisions Luffy wavered on (Water 7 w Ussop). While at the same time, becoming someone who would shield his crew and become the strongest swordsman. And what this episode and the end of Thriller Bark displayed is what Cannon said a sort of "renewal" of dedication.

Cannon Blackbeard first name dropped haki during episode 151 during the Jaya arc. So Oda clearly had this power system in mind by then but I would say around water 7 with the whole garp fist effecting luffy is when he really decided to implement haki into the story.

My opinion on the post time skip one piece vs the pre timeskip; Post time skip is the better half of one piece. Pre timeskip has the greatest highs but post has a higher volume/consistency of great/cool moments, plus it’s more gritty/serious and gets more into the plot. To the Geks, as long as pacing doesn’t sway your guys’ opinion too much, I think you guys will like post timeskip more than pre. But we’re finally here! First half of one piece done! i think alot of OP fans (including me) thought luffy was kinda invulnerable to the pain/damage of blunt attacks. he only really complains when haki or the six powers are used. everyone else use devil fruits, seastones, or sharp attacks. im assuming bc of the resistance he has and his insane willpower, he doesnt really feel the pain nor get as much damage. and he's used to getting punched alot lol

For context about FAN LETTER; Fan letter is a non canon but well produced special episode released in 2024 as an adaption of a short story written by another author published in one piece magazine back in 2017. The episode was released in 2024 but people want you to watch it after episodes that aired in 2012, that’s why other people want you to wait. From a story continuity pov you can watch it fine after ep523 but since when has that made you guys break episode air date order? lol. I remember refusing to watch the kakashi garden episodes earlier because it wasn’t the right episode order. You actually see luffy use observation haki in little garden against Mr.3. Mr.3 has a bunch of clones and luffy punches the real one instantly and makes the remark of how he could sense the real one. Also in Alabasta when Zoro fights Mr.1 it is heavily implied that he uses haki as well.

Luffy feels pain on everything, but since his body is rubber (including his nerves) he does not feel as much pain as a normal person would. When you hit a normal nerve, the nerve takes all the force onto itself, but when you hit a rubber nerve its like when you catch an egg. You move your hands (nerves) with the egg (the hit) to dampen the fall. When you throw an egg on a pillow, the egg still takes the hit, but its weaker because the pillow is bending like rubber and absorbing the momentum. The case with Garp is a little different. Oda himself confirmed that when Garp hit Luffy, it was a "fist of love" that made Luffy hurt. NOW, i believe this was said by Oda before haki was introduced into the story. If it happened after haki was introduced it might have just been haki. But since Oda said otherwise it makes it up to the reader to decide if they want to listen to oda, or just say its haki to make things simple Bottom line is, luffy always feels pain, but less than others. Haki is a flawed thing made official 500 episodes into the story, so anything that happened before that is hard to know if we can accurately apply the haki rules to.

I think watching fan letter after 522 is the right choice, I’ve seen it very rarely when someone actively thinks “ohh I wish I watched it later”, it’s just a more emotional experience for people who have caught up with the show because it is very nostalgic but doesn’t mean that if u watch it now it’s not gonna be good.

Wrong, he just takes less damage from blunt force. He gets punched throughout the entire story and gets beaten bloody lol if you are strong, you will hurt Luffy. It's just the same exact attack would do less damage to Luffy than it would a regular guy not made of rubber. That is all it means. Luffy has resistance, not immunity.

Guys, the remaster is not great for first time viewers. Yes, it looks great and cuts a lot of filler, but it also cuts a lot (and I mean a lot) of manga content. A lot of abrupt cuts where people seemingly teleport, some completely missed context in some scenes, and a lot of minor stuff like jokes and atmosphere. The arc definitely has the Toei drag, and it can get rough. But the remastered version is better for people rewatching the show or manga readers. Also, the Fan Letter has spoilers for the next arc.

I think the reason why people want you guys to wait longer for watching fan letter is because there will be a bit spoilers in there, even though it’s really slightly spoilers(but still). I don’t think it’s that long. but for making more sense and another pov, it’s better than watching now. It doesn’t even take that long for waiting to watch fan letter anyway. Personally, can’t even wait you guys to continue watching now cause I really want you guys to watch fan letter and it’s pretty goood!! Still, it’s up to you guys anyway. I’m fine if you guys want to wait and do other contents and then comeback. always support! can’t wait to see you guys start watching post-time skips!

I personally feel like fan letter is for fans whove already watched well into The New World, and have traveled through all the crazy stuff the strawhats have been through, to then go back and basically reminisce on those old times, it probably doesnt hit as hard if you watch it now
