Daemon made the gold cloaks in house of the dragon also rip baelor so goated. He called his brother strong and you can see him being proud at his brother in that moment… also no we not even close to the mad king.

I don’t believe Maekar I Targaryen intended to kill his brother. Aside from Dunk, Maekar is the one who has the most at stake in that fight. Dunk is fighting for his honor and his life. Maekar, on the other hand, is fighting not only for his own survival but while desperately worrying about two of his sons who are also on the battlefield. This also echoes what Lyonel Baratheon says earlier: “No man fights so fierce as one neglected by his mother.” Maekar, as a fourth son, has always lived in the shadow of his older brothers. He carries the weight of that his entire life, along with the constant frustration and disappointment caused by his sons—except for Aemon Targaryen. We also have to remember that Maekar is a seasoned warrior. He fought in the Blackfyre Rebellion, which proves his strength and experience in battle. Even if he wasn’t neglected by his mother, the fact that two of his three sons are fighting in that trial would naturally push him into a state of fear and desperation. The books even mention that for every blow Maekar strikes, he receives three in return. That detail highlights how fiercely—and desperately—he is fighting to reach his son. Aerion Targaryen may be cruel and unstable, but he is still Maekar’s son. Maekar doesn’t want him to die; he likely still hopes he can change. The same concern applies to Daeron Targaryen. Finally, Baelor Breakspear’s death was also tragically preventable. He did not bring armor that properly fit him and instead borrowed his son’s, which was too small. That lack of proper protection contributed to the fatal blow.

Baelor dying is like Ned Stark in season one all over again

Riley

maybe we are just jaded because nothing can be as dark as the season 8 episode where we fought off the Army of the Dead at Winterfell. That was TRULY dark & unbearable. I'm not saying y'all are wrong! I just think that might have something to do with it haha

Crogadile

That was insane
