I personally enjoyed Thriller Bark mostly for Brook and the humor. I can understand where the hate comes from, but I think Thriller Bark gets beat down a lot because it's in-between two goated arcs (Water7/Enies Lobby and Sabaody). So it gets shunned. Up to this point of the show Impel Down is arguably one of the best arcs. It's a great arc and it goes perfectly with the saga we're in right now. I think that the anticipation for Marineford is causing the impatience of this arc, so it's getting a lil overshadowed. You're better than me tho, I always make sure to sprinkle in one piece to anyone that is trying to get into anime or wanting to watch a new anime. I am one of the messengers😂😂

I havent even watched the reaction yet, because I like building up one piece reactions, but I just know the pacing was awful in these. I do hope they watch the remastered arc, because I believe it turned a 63 episode arc to like 21 episodes, and only cutting out a very small amount of canon that isn't important. Yeah, I didn’t use One Pace either, but it’s fan‑made and includes all the manga scenes. One Pace haters are just One Piece glazers who act like the series is flawless out of nostalgia. I would NEVER recommend anyone to watch One Piece without using One Pace for some of the arcs. it’s the only way I’d recommend it to have the best experience.

I've tried my best to, but I just can't understand One Pace haters. Magellan devil fruit is paramecia, he uses the poison to cover himself with it, which protects himself from direct attack. Logia are natural elements like fire, smoke, mud, electricity but poison is not a natural element.

Some recollection to take into consideration with poison for fun. Not that I think these play into the story as much as it does show power scaling with Magellan. Maybe there's more to the poison angle in terms of subtle storytelling but that's an assumption. - Don Krieg used poison gas on Luffy - Kaya was being poisoned by Kuro - Nami tried poisoning Arlong, and was poisoned/afflicted herself after Little Garden - Crocodile's hidden hook was coated with poison - Wanze used a poison knife - Unnamed pirates killed the Rumbar (Brook) pirates with poisoned swords

As a manga reader first I will always love One Piece for it's main story beats, themes, subtle story telling, interconnected plot devices, and lessons. As a first time watcher only slightly ahead than these patreon episodes to cope, the pacing with a lot of walks and stare downs is ridiculous. I will acknowledge the weekly releases for 25 years being a factor.

because of the nature of the first episode and how insanely poor it was paced, I want to use all the pacing commotion this episode is causing in the comments to give some insight on how the OP anime worked/currently operates! I'm sure most of you know this already, but because One Piece Episodes were a Weekly Release for like 48 weeks of the year, AND because the content of the anime has always been incredibly close to what the Manga is releasing, occasionally Toei had to "Sacrifice" an episode, giving the animators more time to make a future one look goated (in this case, likely prepping for marineford peak), and also buffering up the time between the events of the anime/manga (although I will say, the first episode in this batch had really great animation and character acting, so the only thing that took a MAJOR hit was definitely the pacing) So Geks, as you guys + any other gek fans watching one piece for the first time continue your journey, remember that occasionally you will run into a sacrificed episode that sucks. and now you know why! additionally, the One Piece anime just announced its moving to only releasing episodes for HALF of a year, in two 13 episode cours, 26 episodes total (similar to how shows like JJK release nowadays) so we will no longer get any sacrificed episodes! Which is awesome cause the current content of the anime is insane! not to mention the longer you go and the closer you get to being caught up, the better the production gets and the more tolerable the pacing gets. they really stepped up their game after a certain arc begins!

Its a fan made version of One Piece that is quite literally better in every way, there are no "lazer power struggle moments" That toei put in to save on animation time, and no pointless still paning shots that take up minutes per episode. Its overall a much better paced, higher quality product than One Piece is.

I saw a TikTok video that analyzed Luffy and Blackbeards first meeting and it was so interesting to me. Luffy and Blackbeards first interaction was that they both ordered to eat a cherry pie from this restaurant in Jaya but Luffy is someone who literally eats everything and likes it which we know from seeing him eat his devil fruit something we know to taste disgusting from when the Cp9 agents were eating that for Luffy all people to hate that specific cherry pie is so weird and Blackbeard loved that same cherry pie. They were saying it can symbolize how both Luffy and Blackbeard are after the same thing (One piece) which the cherry pie symbolizes but blackbeards way in how he wants to accomplish that goal is inherently bad or evil or rotten which is why Luffy did not like the taste of the cherry pie. The TikTok went more in depth and I’m not sure if it was meant to be that deep but it was very interesting how that was their first interaction and we immediately saw they have completely different tastes but believe in the same thing which was the sky island at the time and now one piece.
