Yeah idk why, but Maximus is a very weak and annoying character. Not sure it's because of how the character is written, or because the actor is pretty bad.

But so much of the context makes sense when knowing the source material. I actually love and respect that they stayed mostly true. I hate when game adaptations change things for a “broader audience”, leaving the actual game fans feeling let down.

He literally acts like he's coming up with theories or suspicions but in truth he's either watched the show or researches (tiktoks, reels, youtube) everything. I can count four things he said just in this show that weren't even hinted at and he "somehow" knew them? He's done this with quite literally almost EVERY live action show they watch. Idk why the boys let him be part of reactions when he's blatantly just faking his "shock and horrors" just for a gag. It's not like they don't know either bc they also call him out on previous reactions for "seeing" stuff online... so they know, they just wanna make us miserable and ruin the experience of us who are here to watch genuine people who have GENUINELY not seen a single thing on what they're watching. I can't wait till one day it comes out he's been a fake reactor this whole time, which will inevitably just ruin the reputation of the channel as a whole. I'm not falling for the act and it seems others are catching on too. I constantly feel defrauded sitting for blind reactions only for jack to somehow oddly pull things "out of thin air" disguising them as theories. The boys should seriously talk to him off camera, tell him to get offline, and demand he be truthful if he's seen stuff or watches breakdowns after each episode (which SPOILS things for future episodes) then he comes back the next day with brand new "theories"

2025-12-05 06:28:07 +0000 UTChonestly as someone who never played any fallout and only knew about it via friends who had had the mobile game and stuff years prior, i don't really see the goofiness as an actual detriment to the show but rather as something that sets it apart - there's plenty of more gritty/grounded takes on post/post post apocalyptic stories, and no real need to create more of the same if that's not even true to the vibe of the source material. i watched season 1 right when it came out by happenstance, and while it was an adjustment of expectations i think the show sets the tone pretty well for what kind of story it is! so i enjoyed it with no prior info needed, though it was fun to find out more after the fact :) imo it didn't ever really feel especially cheap or badly written to me bcuz it always seemed intentional

This show is such a fantastic adaptation of the games that really captures the essence of fallout. Even without the games in mind it’s still hilarious, has a great story, great characters great twists and top tier action scenes. It’s literally everything you could want in a tv show. Edit: And above all else it has Walton freakin Goggins in the lead role… like cmon

He always plays a sheriff who fights for good and defeats evil while looking good. After the fallout he becomes more of a Spaghetti western character. Morally grey bounty hunter wearing dirty duster coats and have no remorse in killing for money. It also throws a nod to the western genre of how it evolved from your good guy American Hollywood western to morally grey Italian Spaghetti western.

As someone already commented a lot of characters act weird or different or unusual because of stats in the game and they translated that into the show. Like it would not be unusual in this world to see some chick just one hand lift a 400 pound bench press like a shoulder workout. Not knowing that can make the show feel cheap or badly written at times, this show is one of the most faitful adaptions of anything but its also an example (imo) why sometimes you shouldnt go 1:1 with adaptions. As people new to the world get a real shock from being jumped from a post apocalyptic setting to goofy stuff happening. Also this isnt post apocalypse its a post post apocalypse world meaning what happens after the apocalypse and things settle down.

In Fallout you can invest in stats as you level up like strength, intelligence, charisma, etc. This is the same in the show, so while Lucy is really weak her luck is really strong. Hope that helps cause certain characters actions can seem weird till you know this info.
