I think El just opened up a gate. But the fact that the gate was opened up basically inside/using 001, he like fused with the world and changed. And with his powers he was able to basically become a god of this new world, having control over creatures and stuff. But I think the creatures just exist. Most of them anyways. I think it’s just a different dimension. But I supposed she could have created a whole new dimension and he then molded it once he was there. But idk. I kind of like the idea of it already existing rather than being created.

I forgot how insane the demogorgon went in this episode. I remember thinking the prisoners could've won if they'd stuck together, but the demogorgon literally took out several before Hopper even lit the lighter. If he'd done that sooner, maybe more of them would've survived. It's a good thing Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan didn't have to deal with THIS level of demogorgon in S1.

She did. I think it’s cool that powers in this show are similar to the dark and light side of the force. Both One and Eight told El to use her negative emotions/memories for strength and that did make her powerful but El found her true strength in happy/positive memories. If you think about it that’s also Venca’s weakness. Not only did El defeat him with positive memories but Max found the strength to escape by using hers.

Part of the reason Stranger Things has taken so long to finish is cause they really got screwed when it came to filming. The first couple seasons were finished relatively quickly but season 3 took an extra year. Covid hit when they were filming 4 so it was delayed then the writers strike happened during the filming of 5 delaying it again. It has taken forever but there are reasons.

You are ABSOLUTELY right Carter, this is THE EPISODE OF ST!!! THIS EPISODE IS WHAT SOLIDIFIED ST S4 AS THE BEST SEASON THUS FAR! I mean Finale is also incredible but boy did they put crack in this episode. It blew our minds just like yall. I personally think vecna backstory/villian speech was the highlight of this season. The build up to the villian was perfect. Excellent writing from the Duffer Brothers. I love the amount of twist they filled into vecna reveal and also Jamie campbell bower (vecna) performance was phenomenal. He’s such an incredible actor!!!

yesss I knew you guys would love this episode too because it reveals vecna's identity. Judging from mini eleven remembering terry/her mom saying "I love you" makes me believe that love is more powerful that hate. Like 001 was using hatred to try to kill eleven but eleven was more powerful using love from her mom. That's what I'd like to think, I may be wrong though. To answer ya'lls curious to what the upside down is, I heard that they'll answer two questions in season 5: What is the upside down and why was Will taken away. Anyways, loved the reaction as always and excited to see you guys finish the season! woohooo!

She lost her memory of this first time when those kids died. When she escapes again she thinks she opened the upside down when she connected with the demogorgan but she opened it when she sent Henry through.

El isn’t 10 in the memories she is younger. She is like 7or8 in these memories. This is set before she actually escaped at the beginning of the show and found the boys. So technically when we first met her that was her second attempt at escaping. They show us the year in the first episode of this season when they first show us dr brenner and the kids being attacked.

u can tell when she was young her english wasn’t perfect and when they found her she didn’t remember anything so it makes sense if she didn’t know how to speak, but also we’re not sure if she didn’t know how to in s1, it could’ve been cuz of her trauma she didn’t want to speak in the first few episodes so it makes sense the thing abt 08 is what confuses me cuz how are her powers different and how did she escape

To Carter's comment about El being able to talk, they definitely retconned a LOT of stuff between seasons. Like, yeah, it doesn't really make sense that El needed to learn to speak English like a caveman when we later find out she was entirely socialized growing up around people who are well-spoken and fluent in the language. Yeah, you could cope about "trauma", but it's clearly just inconsistent writing. Arguably another retcon is the implicit notion built up in season 2 that each of the numbers had their own power. But, all of the kids this season just have the same powers as Eleven. We don't see any unique mind abilities like was shown from that one girl from the crappy episode. Again, somebody could cope by saying that girl was "unique", but, again, any honest person will admit this is just more inconsistent writing. Which is ultimately fine, plots shift and change behind the scenes, but it does show.

Random thought and really not that serious or important, but there's no way that the rope connecting the upside down and the real world would work like that, right? There's nothing tethering each side to counteract the force pulling from either direction. It makes sense the rope could be suspended due to it being equal in weight and having the same amount gravitational force acting on both sides, but wouldnt the rope pull through on whatever side weight is added to it?

They said that it was so crazy from the start and so good, some even said it's as good as season 1 start which is loved by most fans.
