It’s only 8 episodes that are around 20 minutes each and each episode got animated by a different studio.

Sometimes, the unthinkable has to be done for the greater good. I like complex characters like that that seem morally grey. Conviction and Hesitation are what separates little wins and complete victories.

They are former Ascended warriors that succumbed to madness and rage after the fall of Shurima during the Void wars. There are a few Ascended champions you guys already know like Nasus, Renekton, and Azir, all human warriors transformed into animal-like demi- gods. The difference is that the ones that became darkin began to embrace all the war, trauma, and bloodshed which led to them particpating in dark magic such as hemomancy (the same blood magic Vladimir uses and learned from the Darkin). As we saw from the comic Zaahen refused to be like the rest and worked with Yunara and the Kinkou (one of two major ninja orders in Ionia, currently headed by Shen, Kennen, and formerly, Akali) to seal the Darkin away in weapons and hide them across runeterra. Once a mortal attempts to wield a darkin weapon, the darkin is able to take over their body and use them as a host, resulting in the death of the wielder. There are exceptions where the mortal's will is strong enough to fight off the darkin and utilize the weapon's power without being taken over. Kayn is an example of this, as he is constantly battling Rhaast, the darkin within his Scythe, for control over his own body. In the cinematic we see Leblance has infiltrated the spirit realm where the glaive holding Zaahen is hidden away. She gave the glaive to Atakhan in hopes that Xin Zhao or Yunara would touch it, giving Zaahen a host to possess and opportunity to free himself. Leblanc freed him in order to see if a demon, such as Atakahn could be killed by a Darkin (Zaahen was able to completely obliterated him). Her plan worked and that's why in the post-credits she seemed so pleased with herself. The reason she was keen on discovering whether demons can be killed is because Swain, the current general of Noxus possesses a demon called Raum (which appears as a raven with 3 eyes, the same raven you saw in the abstract swirls at the end of the post-credits, as well as the three-eyed raven seen following around Jinx in Arcane). Leblanc wants Swain dead and out of office for reasons unknown to us atm, but we can assume she wants a piece of the Noxus pie. Anyone lmk if I missed anything or remember it incorrectly there's so much shit :D
