About Mike and Will. Pretty sure their hug was weird bc they haven'tseen each other in a while. There are two theories that could both or either be true. 1. Will is gay. And might have a crush on Mike and is jealous. Pretty sure tho that Mike has no idea. 2. That Will has Autism and struggeld too keep kontakt over long distance even tho he misses and thinks about his best friend a lot and he struggles to communicate (that). His friend(s but esp Mike) usually made up for that, kept him included and looked after him but after he moved he/they didn´t. He was so used to that so he didnt realy know how to reach out and ask for "help" and was hurt that mike didnt keep checking up on him. And also hurt that Mike didnt realize how unwell Will is doing.

I believe they become interested in D&D again because that was the group they already related too. Before they were more interested in girls. In this season they don’t have their girlfriends so they have more time for each other. They never lost interest in D&D they were just being boys with girlfriends. Think of D&D like a game plan model they use to navigate these real life threats. It’s not directly connected it’s just how they compute what’s going on around them.

Cannon, when you asked about foreshadowing of Vecna in previous seasons...there definitely was (starting from the pilot episode). This is why the rewatch value of Stranger Things is amazing. Clues were there all along. Also, season 4 is goated because we finally get answers. Everything will make sense. The story writing is peak!

1:02:56 there is a theory online that Mike's color representation is blue and that Will's is yellow, like you see in the lights above their heads. For example, Mike's room is blue, Will's room is yellow, these lights above them at the timestamp, their wardrobe, and it's also the background colors in their Netflix profile pictures. Do with that what you will, no pun intended. Speaking of wardrobe, I think what Mike was wearing at the airport was a facade and nothing like him at all. Even Argyle pulled his shirt and called it "fake," which matches the front Mike is putting in front of Eleven. I'm glad Carter called it out, saying, "why does he look like that" 💀 Then, when he greets Will, he acts like he doesn't care and pats him on the shoulder, then he suddenly cares about what he's holding. Will tells him it's the painting he is working on, mind you, Eleven wrote to Mike that she thinks Will is painting something for "a girl" that he likes. When Will faces Mike in Rink-O-Mania Mike seems defensive, arguing that Will was not talking, rolling his eyes, and moping implying that he was observing him. Then, when Will asks simply, "what about us," as in their friendship, Mike goes, "that's because she's my girlfriend," "we're friends! WE ARE friends!" Meanwhile, Will didn't mean for it to be intimate, he was genuinely just missing the closure of having a friend. Also, on their faces, Mike has half and half of blue and yellow light, meanwhile Will has only blue all over his face, which could indicate that there is something holding Mike back internally while Will seems to be honest with himself, but that's just my analysis. Also, when Mike said, "Will, maybe you should've reached out more," a soundtrack started playing that's literally titled "In the Closet." Haha, how funny... Also, on the rink when they were filming El, you could see a date on the camera, and it said 1986 March 22nd, which is Will's birthday. We know that because of Joyce's speech to him in Season 2 in the cabin. Also, when you go back to Family Video, they had posters outside of the movie Sixteen Candles, which is about a girl whose family forgot about her birthday. Then, when Robin was looking through all the Ricks, we see that one of them rented the movie Sixteen Candles! Also, I think paralleling Mike with Papa was genius. Call me insane, but I think Mike's love for El is a bit too overprotective and fatherly, which Max fought with him about in Season 3. When he asked, "what have you done," El gets triggered and starts remembering Papa, and not in a good way. These are all the "easter eggs" and small details that 99% of the viewers might miss :) I hope these entertained you and taught you the patterns you should be looking for. AGAIN, some of these things, including color theory, are just my beliefs, and A LOT of Stranger Things fans call it stupid and don't believe in them, but I like them, they're fun to look out for. Anyways, enjoy your watch!

My speculation about them going back to D&D is that when they started high school this year, Eddie saw that they were "nerds," and since he was already (likely) into D&D, a whole expansion of their friend group happened. TL;DR: they used D&D to make new connections and friends.
