.Fate. .Heavens. .Feel. Movie 3

GREATEST ANIMATED FIGHT EVER

Comments

The thing about these movies is that they expect you to be explosed to typemoon franchises already like the og fate VNs or Fate/Grand order. Im sure old fans went in knowing full well who angra manyu(the thing that corrupted the grail and sakura) and theres multiple more extra classes like "avenger, Ruler, Alter ego, Foreigner, Beast, Unbeast, shielder, pretender, paladin? And Savior. Also fate works in a multiverse perspective what "if saber was actually male? Well we have proto arthur" "what if artoria was evil and a tyrant? Well we got artoria alter we see here" "what if artoria picked up the rongominiad lance instead of excalibur? We got sweet grown up thicc mommy artoria lol" and so on. For me my favorite of the 3 og stay night stories is 10000% the saber route, its the only way shirou can be have a happy ending, and NOT an end as a fkn doll.

So to explain the ending a bit, Illya uses the Grail to unleash the Third Magic, Heaven's Feel, which materialized Shirou's soul beyond the collapse of his body. They were then able to bond that soul to a Mannequin that became sentient and took on his appearance. So yes, Shirou is alive, just with an articial vessel.

imma keep praying you guys try out fate strange fake its only 1 hour long🥲

zak

Yea, I'm going to conclude my previous thoughts now, Saber Alter vs. Rider is the best anime fight, hands downs. Also, thank you guys for finishing this story, it's been an absolute blast!

Animeke

Hoping you watch the other fates some day 🙏 especially babylonia and strange fake

Night Sterling

Never knew that last bit, makes sense now for the Saber route to ever work out then, and why she wasn't able to stick around at the end of it like some other servants can.

OKAY so i watched every single one of your reactions to Fate Zero, F/SN UBW, and now Fate HF. To clarify some important world-building points that you all likely missed over the past few months and some points you guys were confused about: - There is a Lesser Grail and Greater Grail. The Greater Grail is the machine that actually produces the 3rd Magic (called Heaven's Feel) upon completion of the Holy Grail War. The Lesser Grail is the key that activates the Greater Grail. - The Holy Grail War is just a ceremony used to summon an enormous amount of mana in the form of Servants with the purpose of using all that mana to activate the Greater Grail. When Servants are defeated during the Holy Grail War, that mana then flows into the Lesser Grail where it's stored until the end of the war. - Irisviel was the Lesser Grail in Fate Zero and if you pay close attention to every time that a Servant dies and their mana becomes stored in her, she becomes sicker and sicker and starts to lose her basic human functions (like her ability to see near the end) because she is slowly transforming into the Lesser Grail's completed form. Ilya does not have these same issues in UBW because she is half human and half homunculus so she is a perfect host for the Lesser Grail. - In Heaven's Feel, instead of Servants becoming stored in Ilya who is supposed to be the Lesser Grail, they are stolen by the Shadow and stored in the Black Grail - The Greater Grail is the machine that produces the 3rd Magic (called Heaven's Feel) once the war is completed and the Lesser Grail is the key to activating it. Heaven's Feel is true magic that actualizes the soul so that the soul no longer requires a physical body to anchor it to the living world. This could theoretically make you immortal because you're not reliant on a physical body, which was Zouken's goal. - In the end of Fate HF, Shirou's body becomes destroyed and theoretically his soul should then cease to exist in the living world however Ilya uses Heaven's Feel to actualize his soul so that his soul no longer requires a physical body to anchor to this world. So they end up storing Shirou's soul into a little bird cage until they were able to find a puppet to place his soul in. So no, he is not a homunculus. - Yes that professor in the Clock Tower that Shirou spoke to at the end of Fate UBW was Waver - Servants are not actually the souls of the Heroic Spirits they represent. Servants that are summoned into the Grail War are just "copies" of the souls of Heroic Spirits that reside in the Throne of Heroes, meaning they don't retain any memories between Grail Wars. The reason Saber carries memories between Grail Wars is because she is actually not dead, but a literal living human. She made a deal with Alaya (The Counter Force) to become a Counter Guardian (like Archer Emiya) if they give her a chance to obtain the Holy Grail in order to use it's power to save Britain from it's destruction. So she is frozen in time for all eternity until she wins the Grail.

you definitely need to watch the new chainsaw man movie and demon slayer infinity castle movie. this will be the golden standard soon.

Durarara

To this day still the best anime fight.

Durarara

Kirei is definitely one of my favorite characters in fate and I'm glad he got to be center stage for this final movie. I particularly like how when we first meet him in Fate Zero(if you watched that first) he is introduced as a priest and appears to be a moral character, but then as the story progresses you learn how that couldn't be further from the truth. This perfectly mirrors Kiritsugu who we are introduced to as a mage killer/assassin who fights without honor. Yet as we also learn more about him, we find out Kiritsugu has probably the most noble motivation out of all the masters. I think it's purposefully done to reinforce the theme that you can't properly judge something until you know all of it, which is central to a lot of Nasuverse. Kirei being adamant that we cannot judge Angra Mainyuu as purely evil when it's not even born yet and him being the final opponent of the main fate series just seems so fitting. And interestingly he now also mirrors Shirou and this is acknowledged by Shirou with the line "we both think of ourselves as sinners". Both Kirei and Shirou are unable to find purpose and joy on their own, and look to others to provide it for them. Eventually they both get their answer from observing/interacting with Kiritsugu. Kirei fills the emptiness by causing and observing suffering in others, while Shirou does it by helping and saving others. But both share the same emptiness that they are trying to fill. If you rewatch and compare some of the conversations about what brings joy between Kirei and Gilgamesh from Fate Zero, and the ones between Shirou and Rin from Fate UBW, you can see that Kirei and Shirou have a very similar view on it and respond in earily similar ways. Kirei himself says that he and Kiritsugu took different paths to arrive at the same destination, but interestingly Kirei and Shirou instead take similar paths but end up at opposite destinations. He thought he found a kindred spirit in Kiritsugu, but instead finds it in Shirou after he had stopped looking for it. Also interesting that they both almost died at the end of the 4th grail and were reborn from that fire. Kirei through the contents of the grail after Kiritsugu destroys the grail, and Shirou through Avalon after Kiritsugu uses it to heal him. Kirei wants to fill the emptiness by doing evil, Shirou wants to fill it by doing good, but both of it stems from a selfish desire to fill their emptiness. There are just so many well written parallels between Kirei and Shirou and most of them are centered around Kiritsugu and the different incomplete images they had of the man. Sorry meant to type a short reply but I got carried away. I could just talk about the writing in these works forever.

Haven't commented on Fate stuff in a minute for certain reasons, but wanted to just appreciate Kirei's character and its culmination in HF. It's quite philosophical so I'm not really upset at McKay saying he was yapping during the last fight lol, but to me it was brilliant and I truly believe Kirei is one of Fate's most interesting characters. Kirei was a twisted individual from birth and by nature. He said it himself, he was born with a flaw, that flaw being taking pleasure at the misfortune of others. In Zero, we get to see a Kirei that hadn't fully embraced this flaw, one that was attempting to conform to the normative morality of society. Through his interactions with Gil and the events of the 4th HGW, Kirei slowly begins to accept his nature and indulge in his true form of pleasure, resulting in the Kirei of the 5th HGW. The birth of Angra Mainyu is so, so existentially and philosophically important to Kirei precisely because of his nature. The conclusion of the 4th HGW left him unsatisfied, without the answer to his ultimate question, but through it he was able to realize that the Grail was corrupted. From Shirou's perspective, it is predetermined that the incarnation of evil itself would solely commit evil, unlike humans who have the capacity for both good and evil, and thus its birth should be prevented. But for Kirei, it's less about the result and more the process. Essentially, Kirei posits that if Angra Mainyu, being both evil itself and evil by nature, performs its natural function without moral deliberation, then its existence itself is not evil, given that it was people outside of itself who gave it that function. However, if Angra Mainyu laments its nature, that shows it is naturally capable of moral deliberation, and thus some form of objective, natural morality must exist. Kirei extrapolates this to his own existence; depending on the process by which Angra Mainyu kills people, he can make a conclusive decision on whether to embrace or reject his nature. This can only be accomplished through Angra Mainyu because it is fully and completely evil. And the best part? Kirei is only curious about Angra Mainyu because he actually does believe his nature to be a twisted one, and he desires justification and a sense of purpose in living. Truly a complex and conflicted character. The big question is obviously why Kirei would still want to bring Angra Mainyu into existence even if he isn't around to see it. There's clearly a component of misanthropic resentment here; in the 4th HGW, Kirei made a wish for the destruction of humanity, and here he clearly says he is jealous of their (normal people's) happiness. My answer is that he wants to prove he was right. Shirou hits the mark when he says [he and] Kirei both think of themselves as sinners, and so stood firm on a certain way of life. And for Kirei, he chose to stand on his twisted form of hedonism when he led Aoi Tohsaka to the church that night.

Fate was such a fun ride from Zero to UBW to Heaven’s Feel. Hope you guys consider watching Fate Strange/Fake Whispers of Dawn which is like an extended ep for the new upcoming Fate. Or consider putting other Fate stuff like Fate Grand Order on future polls
