He's such an goated husband. Hope he can save her and they can live happily and have their baby. But I'm still scared of what will happen before they can reach that point of peace and security.

I think the meteorite was just a freak accident that caused everyone to have the near death experience. From what I remember from the first season, I think the borderland is just like a purgatory space.

It's very similar to what Charon does in Greek mythology: carrying souls between life and death. When the final game is cleared, the playing phase is over, & the Joker will appear before you. You will then have to make a decision if you want to return to the real world or stay on as a citizen. They're adapting the Joker card differently & I'm intrigued to see how & what they do with it.
