The Uchiha's just wanted to be treated like equals and wanted more influence and higher positions. If they hadn't been backed into a corner and been treated with so much mistrust this might not have happened.

When Itachi tells Sasuke that he doesn’t ever have to forgive him and that whatever he decides to do (even something as terrible as destroying the Hidden Leaf), he will always love him. Another peak moment is when their parents calmly accept being killed, and father says: “Even though our philosophies differ, I am still proud of you. You truly are a kind child.” I’ve always imagined what kind of person you have to be to say that, in the moment right before you’re killed. Truly, a real father. Because of all this, Itachi might be my favorite character in any anime 🥹 Never fails to make me tear up

He was too negligent and gave Danzo too much power and influence, and believing that Danzo was right about there being a necessary evil in order for the village to be strong and at peace. So Danzo did a lot of slimy and terrible acts to achieve this "peace and strength" but in the end everything he did just resulted in creating enemies and resentment towards the leaf while weakening it from the inside. He was the main reason the Akatsuki became what they became and Kabuto. And the Uchiha massacre/coup could've been avoided or at the very least minimized, but Danzo didn't believe in a peaceful/non-violent alternative and pushed for this massacre to happen. In the end, Hiruzen was too pussy to make any tough decisions and to actually enact real political reforms and build any trust between the Uchiha and the rest of the village. But instead chose to let it and many more disasters, like Orochimaru, to happen.

He said it himself earlier that part of the reason he made Sasuke hate him is because he wanted to be judged and killed by another Uchiha a selfish decision that comes from self hatred, but this is something he probably only realized later on after he learned to forgive himself and accept who he is/was. He says that maybe if he was honest with Sasuke there might have been another way but of course neither he nor the viewer knows this for sure but that's part of the lesson in this fight. Don't overestimate your own vessel and learn to lean on others for the things you can't handle on your own.

Izanami and Izanagi have their folk lore so intertwined that you cant have one without the other. When we witnessed Danzo and fake Madara using Izanagi in the Five Kage Summit, Izanami should have been expected to appear in the series and be Izanagi's other half.
