I like Season 5 a lot (especially the Class A vs B and Todoroki arcs), but I was not a fan of how they reordered a lot of scenes and episodes compared to the manga. Some scenes that add context were pushed all the way back to Season 7. And I think the My Villain Academia arc was largely botched, outside fo Shigaraki's backstory. There was a more that happened during the Gigantomachia training part, and the Meta Human Liberation Front was much better explained in the manga. For instance, how they had subtlety worked their way into different forms of media and power - social networks, a political party, news, and especially Hero Support Item production to bring people to their revolution. There was some minor foreshadowing in past seasons about the black market Hero Support Items they were producing, but that connection wasnt driven him in the anime or really expanded on at all.

A couple of notes and thoughts: Dr. Garaki looks like the same doctor who diagnosed Midoriya as quirkless in the first episode of the show. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or whatever, just something I noticed. They look very similar. I appreciate Aizawa reassuring All Might at the end of the first reaction. It's interesting to see this dynamic when initially Aizawa more or less disproved of All Might, both because of their contrasting personalities and the way he antagonized Izuku on the first day of school. All Might disliked Aizawa's overly-strict methods, while Aizawa disliked the favoritism he showed Izuku. So that scene stood out to me I guess, coming full circle in a way. Another thing I like is the fact that MHA constantly reuses the same background characters in different scenes and arcs, they never just disappear. its pretty obvious in Season 6 with the amount of heroes that are in this arc. For example, the guy at 45:06 to the left was acquainted with gentle criminal, the guy who forgot about him and triggered gentle's obsession of not being forgotten Lastly, this is just my opinion since it was touched on a little after the first episode reaction: the reason why I personally like MHA is because it’s a straightforward shonen, and that’s part of the appeal for me. With this being the first anime I watched, it gave me the foundation for how I enjoy this genre, and I appreciate the fact that it really embraces the shonen formula (training arcs, rivalries, etc.). It does it in a good way, in my opinion. I’m guessing some people don’t like the first season because it felt slow, overly dramatic, or too focused on Deku’s struggles, but for me and a lot of people, those elements are necessary to show where the show began. I’m also not a long-time anime watcher, so maybe the things that turn others away from the early episodes just don’t affect me. I kind of wish more people just appreciated the fact that MHA sets a solid foundation, then builds on it season by season, so by the time you reach arcs like this, the payoff feels earned. Im glad you guys are reacting and enjoying the show for what it is.

Horikoshi said that the kid was Garaki's grandson and he is the same nomu that kidnaps Deku during the Stain arc, which then Stain kills.

Your reaction to how fast the heroes locked in in S6 Ep1 really goes to show how well S5 did as a set up season. Because they fit the arcs that included the preparation and infiltration on both the heroes and villains' sides, they were able to jump straight into the literal WAR that is about to go down between them. S6 is just a rollercoaster with no rest stops. Shit gets insane from start to finish in terms of plot, twists, and depression. You just KNOW the war is not gonna end up with the heroes winning by a landslide. Ain't no way, even as a first time watcher. I'm so ready for the binge. The scene with All Might thinking to himself that Izuku no longer looks back at him always makes me feel so sad. It's really bittersweet because Izuku is slowly and steadily leaving the nest that All Might provided him at the beginning. His quirk is growing alongside his ability to handle it, though not at the same pace, and the times when he has to rely on his mentor/idol become less and less frequent to show how far he's come as a hero and as a person. Izuku is now more confident, more capable, more independent, and that's really good! He's becoming ready to take on the mantle that All Might entrusted him to bear, bit by bit. But still, those days when he and All Might were basically in the baby stages of their relationship and had to rely on one another all the time hold such special meaning and wholesome fondness that seeing All Might reminisce about it is depressing on another level. He's just so proud of his boy, I'm gonna cry.

To give a clear timeline. Endeavor Agency takes place after MVA during winter break as we transition to the new year. Hawks finds out from spying the League that Shiggy will be completed in 4 months and gives that information to Endeavor and the Safety Comission. Then between the last episode of season 5 and the postcredit scene with the students on standby near the hospital there is around a 3 months timejump, meaning season 6 takes place at the end of March, when the new school year should start. The heroes planned this so the raid on both fronts will happen while Shigaraki is still incomplete as he has still 1 months of development to go through. During this 3 month window the workstudies with Endeavor and the other heroes kept going on to train the students and also the third movie happens around this time, prior to season 6.

28:45 to answer your question if no one else already has (didnt check), Japan starts their school year in the spring, and has several longer breaks throughout the year, compared to the US where it starts in the fall and ends in the summer for one big break with several smaller ones throughout the academic year. I’m pretty sure the reason why the US does it like that is because of the necessary labor children provided on family farms back in the day, since those would have started to lessen right around fall time. As for Japan, I have no clue, but a lot of East Asian cultures use the seasons as metaphors for the beginning, middle, and end of things, so that might have something to do with it!

I think the reason it seems a bit out of no where McKay is because the mva arc was meant to set this up and THEN after knowing the army that faces us we get the Endeavour training arc with all the hawks build up that leads right into this battle. The switching of the arcs definitely ruined the flow of the build up but it’s fine because we’re here now and it’s only up from here 📈

I actually really like the next movie but it feels like a crime to pause and watch it after starting this season, id rather just wait and do it in between 6 and 7 now 😭 this is my personal favorite season tho, they really get right into it and it doesn't stop. I'm all here for the movie waiting until after the binge because there's no way can we stop this momentum now it's too hype! The movie is also really disconnected from the main plot and can be watched whenever really I think after 6x13 would be fine. Also none of the scenes from the end of 5x25 were set up for the movie that was in the filler ep you guys skipped. I think the kid is just there to symbolize the start of the new school year because kids in Japan go back to school after spring break not summer break so now that spring breaks over our cast is technically now class 2A. First assignment of the second year of high school go to WAR xD.

Ngl season 5 was the most forgettable for me. During this rewatch, it wasn't as bad as I remembered, it was a decent season. However, the feeling I had watching ep 1 of season 6 was impeccable. I love how season 6 starts, it gets you so hype and you can just tell the next couple of weeks were gonna be peak. I'm so jealous you guys get to binge it and wasn't on the edge of your seat weekly.
