April 2022: April Fool's, Apple Music & Chikatto Chika Chika

For last year's April Fool's, we decided with the team to create a playlist dedicated to Truck-kun (Spotify | Apple Music), the famous recurring character of our favorite isekai anime which sends our protagonists into different worlds. We had a lot of fun making the playlist and even more so when we saw your reactions to it! 

We had to come up with another idea for this year, and  we went for something that could be believable but also quite obvious: we announced that we would stop sharing Spotify links on Twitter, aniplaylist.com and Reddit and replace them with Apple Music ones. While this could have been a possibility since our Spotify account is still suspended and Spotify doesn't give us any answer, we would never do that.
First, this wouldn't change anything, removing links to Spotify would not make them move a finger for us. Secondly, our community was born on Spotify, the huge majority of people following us are here for Spotify links, removing them would mean losing the interest of people who have been following us since the beginning.

So, for the occasion we changed the website's colors to Apple Music's and decided to cross every mention of Spotify on the website: 

While we thought this would be obvious enough, a lot of people only read our announcement on Twitter/Reddit/Discord and didn't check the website, so it was easy to think we were dead serious.

We thought all of this would be obvious enough, but it looks like we were too convincing and a lot of people fell for it. Some people were not happy with this announcement, some of them even decided to stop supporting us on Patreon (we can't blame them for doing so) but we received plenty of messages of support that we actually started to feel bad about the joke we made. It was really touching to read these messages, and we're thankful for that, you truly are the best community.

Apple Music

We know there are many people expecting AniPlaylist on Apple Music, we've had requests since the beginning of the project 4 years ago. By making the April Fool's and pretending we would share Apple Music links instead of Spotify ones, we knew we might disappoint some of you.

When we decided to go for that joke, we already knew we had something in store for Apple Music fans, we wouldn't have made the joke if that wasn't the case.

A few days later, we announced that all our playlists are now available on Apple Music! 

You can guess this was a lot of work, we have more than 200 playlists on Spotify and recreating them all on an another platform takes a lot of time. But Ryunako was crazy enough to do it all by himself. I can't thank him enough.

Releases

Now let's stop talking about AniPlaylist and switch over to actual anime songs releases because there's a lot to say. April 2022 was a crazy month, I don't even know where to start.

We got some very nice Kyoto Animation anime soundtrack releases with Tsurune & the entire Hibike! Euphonium discography.

If I say, "Smile! Sweet! Sister! Sadistic..." you might have already guessed, Blend-S' famous opening "Bon Appétit♡S" is finally available on streaming services! 

Kaguya-sama is back for a third season, we already got the new opening & ending available, but it looks like Aniplex wanted to give us more. They released "KAGUYA ULTRA BEST" album which contains the long awaited "Chikatto Chika Chika", the incredible song and dance that was featured as the ending in the 1st season's 3rd episode.
