It’s still better with one pace regardless because the mixed in filler and shitty pacing destroys the quality and drags it to unwatchable standards. It’s definitely one of those arcs that has u begging for it to end by the time your 5 episodes into it

This is definitely one of those arcs they need it for the whole thing tho. The cuts may be abrupt but the damage done to the quality of the story through injections of filler mixed into the story is far more substantial than cutting it out for faster pacing. It’s still a slow arc without it because Toei animates in slow motion too and stretches scenes. They should switch only for episodes 275-277 Soon we will reach a point where most of the series needs one pace because as u know the studios quality and pacing dips heaps

I mean they cut a lot of things and it will make you confused and later on in the middle of this arc, you switch to one pace, that’s just my opinion to enjoy the actual one piece more.

okay one pace is great for some arcs, but its a bit choppy. i've even seen the geks confused about scenes or character bc one pace just throws us into new scenes alot. it also cuts some great little crew moments that really get you to love them more. and i get that jokes aren't are important as the big fights and stuff, but one piece is really funny and one pace is noticeably less funny. literally some of my favorite jokes were cut out in one pace. so yes, one pace cuts A LOT that makes is such an easier watch and upload. but there's a trade off. its funny that one pace "fixes" the pacing but in reality it just shortens it. so the long fights and arcs, the 10 seconds of grass and background shots, is great that it's cut. but when you cut so much, the shorter scenes seem even shorter. the transitions are rough and sometimes it literally cuts dialogue that is need for context like 1 episode later. IMO, i think yall should switch back and forth, and don't do it for a whole arc. just do it for the rough bits. i get that it would be harder to manage, and that what yall have been doing honestly better for reacts, but if you use one pace too much, you'll miss some of one piece.

One pace picks and chooses what it wants to edit out, the walk to Arlong Park was not in the manga but was still included. They could have kept in multiple scenes from this episode that weren’t in the manga and weren't bad pacing that give context to certain parts and help with continuity. It’s been mentioned multiple times, but the explanation about Nami going onto Brook’s ship wasn’t bad pacing and could have been included. One pace isn't perfect; it's a fan project, so there's going to be obvious bias as to what gets cut and that's why a lot of people are against them using it for entire arcs

for example: One pace saved 228 minutes in Water 7 and 193 minutes in Enies Lobby. Thriller Bark it will save 483.5 minutes. That's a lot.

It is all about what the Geks prefer at the end of the day. And if we look at what they have said in the past and how they seem to feel, we know that they probably would have liked Skypiea less if they had watched the original anime. The same goes for Enies Lobby — they probably would have liked it less if they had seen the fights and pacing in the original version. So we have evidence to say that they would probably prefer watching One Pace instead of the original anime. I know that many people here dislike One Pace and think it is garbage or trash, but even then, this is about what is best for them, not what is best for you personally. Everyone keeps saying that the cuts were jarring, but none of the Geks actually mentioned that after the episode. I saw Jack comment on it further down in the replies, but none of the other Geks said anything about it being a weird cut or that it felt jarring. Maybe that’s because they didn’t experience the original anime, so it does not affect them the same way. Of course, we can still point out things that were cut. And I personally thought some parts felt a little bit strange. I am not saying they do not like the original anime — Carter said that he prefers it. But Cannon, McKay, and Brig (before he left) have been supporters of One Pace. It’s all about what they prefer; that’s what I’m trying to say.

i watched thriller bark in the original one piece and it did drag out a lot. Yes it was very funny so i didn't mind it too much plus we should be used to the padding by now, but the geks aren't a massive fan of the show's comedy i think one pace is the best thing for them. Like the cuts are jarring but if the guys hated all the nonsense in enies lobby - one of the best arcs - idk how they would like what happens in TB. YOHOHOHOHO Brooke's introduction will always crack me up, I love it 😂 I'm really excited for this arc, I remember on my first watch I was just laughing a whole bunch. I've noticed there were a lot of awkward cuts and what was cut was some funny scenes. Hopefully there won't be too many cuts especially on the funny scenes because that's one of the things that makes the arc great, is how hilarious it is, and it also adds to the character’s personalities. I did vouch for the first two eps to be in OG in the comments from the last upload because I remembered how good and funny the intro to this arc was and cuts are definitely not needed. I think at ep 373 until the end you should switch back to OG bc it's really great from there. I also agree with Canon, I am a stan for Franky and Robin. Where's my Frobin stans fr, I think this ship is the most acceptable in the fandom compared to the others😂

One interesting thing that the Geks haven't touched on, is the fact that Luffy doesn't have any inner monologue. Compared to the likes of MHA where Deku is constantly pondering about things and it's clearly stated to the watcher, Luffy has like 2-3 inner monologue moments in all of One Piece. He's a character that shows his thoughts with action, which makes him a bit more interesting, in my opinion at least. You'll never know what is going through that crackheads brain.

Gotta say, watching One Pace on this skipped alot of funny moments and stuff that made more sense if you saw the 1min they skipped something. It skipped some of Brooks personality and some info. I would understand One Pace if its a long boring episode with not much going on, otherwise its a big L useing that. Also why are you skipping fillers?? its your first time watching, meaning you watch it all even if its not part of the main story. Most fillers aint that bad and some even have characters you see again or hints fowards.

One of the main things I love about pre-timeskip One Piece is how each arc has its own unique artstyle and feel (not to say that post-timeskip doesn't have this, but its more noticeable and has more changes pretimeskip). And each arc gets progressively better in that regard. One of those arcs, which is the next one, is my favorite artstyle. In this arc, they brought in a new character designer, Kazuya Hisada. He was a big contributor to the Dragon Ball series with both character designs and animation. He actually replaces the head designer in the next arc where you can see some subtle changes in character designs such as proportions, outfits etc. And even more so in the arc after that. They also added a bunch of new animators that will go on to help create a lot of iconic moments in the series. Bit of a time capsule of animation, although apparently One Piece at the time was actually behind on the industry standard. And this definitely true for some future arcs. Which makes me excited for the remake by Wit. I and I'm sure many other people also have a love hate relationship with Toei, they do the anime and some of the characters so dirty at times but when they pop off, its incredible.

TB has some of the funniest moments in OP for me, though I personally think it would still be worth it to use One Pace even though the cuts may be weird at times since the atrocious pacing was definitely the main reason why a lot of people hated on this arc. Use One Pace at least up until TB 19 (or ep 373 to 374 in the OG) then the remaining episodes can be watched without One Pace if you guys want to switch:>

Keep an eye out and you'll notice that Robin actually calls everyone by their names now. Before Ennies Lobby she only called them by their role on the crew. She never said Sanji, only cook and never said Luffy, only captain. Now she calls them by name.

Actually can't believe how shit the editing on this One Pace episode is, Like I don't like to be overly critical and I saw someone say this was one of the first arcs the team edited when they were still in highschool or something which makes sense. But holy the editing and cuts here are abysmal, the episode doesn't flow together at all. Some things are cut too short like chopper falling asleep saying "It's just a dream" for absolutely no reason and others are cut too hastily like Nami ending up halfway through the ladder saying "Why do I have to go?" Great question One Pace why does she have to go 😂 and why are the others still on the ship if she doesn't want to? The problem with just trying to cut strictly down to the shortest amount of manga material possible, is that Toei DOES add additional dialogue or transitional scenes to make the manga possible to be in an anime form or more understandable in that medium. If you're confused in manga you can always go back and study the panel, or keep looking back and forth, plus you can have more detailed panels than frames on screen in an animation. So to adapt it especially to a longer medium that has to flow forward and make sense in one watch without backtracking, sometimes you need additional context. If they were somehow reanimating and reproducing the manga scenes into a NEW version, that would be different, but since they're just adapting the pre-existing scenes, you have to take into consideration the differences. There won't always be an opportunity to perfectly cut it to the manga since this isn't a 1 to 1 of the manga, some small filler scenes and dialogue are needed to make sense of the adapted material. Any of the Geks I urge you to on your own go skip through TB episode 1 and see what I mean. Not even saying for you guys to not use One Pace or use it or anything idk what would be ideal, but this episode at least was adapted so shit I just couldn't believe it.

The amount of people who are complaining about One Pace for this arc right now is actually getting me worried for future arcs, especially post-timeskip stuff. If people are already this upset when just a bit of filler is removed, I can only imagine how many are going to complain once One Pace starts trimming down arcs like Dressrosa, which would cut out half the episodes from the original anime. People keep saying things like “One Pace cut out that scene with Nami” But One Pace isn’t randomly cutting out important scenes. It’s just removing things that weren’t in the manga. That’s the whole point. If a scene wasn’t in the manga, then yeah, it’s not going to be there. I get it if you’ve only seen the anime and you’re used to it, or if you have a personal preference. That’s totally fine. But I honestly didn’t expect this many people to be against using One Pace for something like Thriller Bark. If people are reacting like this already, then I really don’t know how they’re going to handle One Pace during the long post-timeskip arcs. That’s going to be a whole other wave of complaints.

Thriller bark! This arc gets a little bit of hate because its sandwiched in between two fan favorite sagas, but I actually think its hilarious and also has some really cool plot points, foreshadowing, and moments. Oda was also in his bag w the art in the manga during this arc and I think the anime did a really good job of replicating it so look forward to that! Excited to see your guys' reactions to it, also dont know how i didnt notice that brook does sound a ton like pops lmao!!

Just to give some info for One Pace with this arc since this ep was pretty jarring. This was one of the first arcs the One Pace team edited all the way back in 2013! Many of the members were actually still in high school back then, so the editing quality and cuts are going to be noticeably worse and amateurish compared to other arcs. Just take that how you will.

I don’t like one pace’s way of deliberately trying to “recreate” the manga into the anime. Their way of cutting and editing feels too jarring sometimes, especially when they cut to Nami climbing up the ship. It works fine in the manga, I just feel that the ‘drawing-straws scene’ helps the flow into why Nami is crying on the ship, plus it added in humor from the characters’ personalities.
