Yes I was a hugeee fan when I was younger, but after watching disney destroy star wars so many times I just don’t have the interest to put myself into it again, until something change I guess

Hej Hej

andor is an incredible war story that doesn’t glamorize or pull punches when it comes to how people are made the way they are, what motivates them and how the things you run from are where you end up. dedra being an orphan of rebel criminals dedicating her life to being by the books and upholding order for the empire being ultimately jailed for her role, not because she was ever corrupt, but because the empire she sacrificed her life for above all else was the true criminal. when andor said to syril, “who are you?” moments before syril was shot, that was such a gut punch because he dedicated years of his life to catch andor for that first humiliation on ferrix. and luthen and klaya. two people that were endangered for most of their lives building and nurturing the rebellion, not for the glory but for its cause, ending up slandered in some ways and so small at the end is gutting but so realistic in times of fascism. these are the things we don’t get in history books but is always there. unsung heroes and martyrs and victims all at once. wild take that carter didn’t like rogue one because it was boring, especially because that movie was all about showing the stakes for the regular people in that world. that’s the only star wars movie i’ve seen that i felt worth my money haha. glad you came around to it eventually

YC

Wonderfully put

Cannon Andrus

The main reason Andor isn't as popular as it should be is that so many people have lost interest in Star Wars. If they can make more decent shows and films, maybe more people will feel that Star Wars is worth taking the time to watch again.

TheSauceGuy

Dedra called her parents "common criminals," but look where she ended up... I wonder what she would do if she survived in prison until the dissolution of the Galactic Empire. Also glad we got to see B2EMO again

TheSauceGuy

The perspective that "this isn't Star Wars" is understandable (and wrong) to me, but in a good way, rather than a bad one. Much (probably the majority) of the previous Star Wars media we've gotten has been mediocre, recycled, uncreative, and relied heavily on nostalgia. Andor does not suffer from any of this, and it feels fresh. It's not centered around the Jedi, Sith, or the Force; it focuses on political schemes and the moral gray areas on all sides. For stories that strongly relate to the plots of the main films, I would be interested in more shows/films like Andor, which introduce a new perspective. I also hope for shows/films that focus more on the earlier lives of some antagonists; take Grievous as an example. A series about Grievous (Qymaen jai Sheelal) before he became a cyborg would have so much potential. Not only would we get a fresh perspective and an interesting conflict between two species that have barely been shown, but we'd also get to see more on how the New Republic negatively impacted certain civilizations, and how Grievous became who we see in the prequels. I also would be interested in shows/films that cover the Old Republic, but there are a lot of ways in which the portrayal of this period could be executed poorly. Overall, I just want to see more of the galaxy's history covered, and more fresh areas of the galaxy, which could be interesting regardless of whether or not they relate to the central plot of the main films. When you have an entire galaxy to work off of, you essentially have unlimited options.

TheSauceGuy

Yeah Cannon, along with Syril, Luthen's Imperial spy has to be one of my favorites. Edit: Welp, he's already dead :(

TheSauceGuy

Good question McKay. I hope we don't get some more uncreative slop primarily made for children now that Andor is finished.

TheSauceGuy

I really enjoyed Rogue One because it made the Empire and its troops actually feel like a threat again, which I hadn't felt in forever. It does have some corny moments, but they don't overshadow the positives of the film to me.

TheSauceGuy

They are both heroes—no one else could have made the shot that Luke did. But Cassian is definitely a hero as well, without him they couldn’t have succeeded. Still, without Luke, the Rebellion wouldn’t have succeeded either.

Marine Piece!!!

Rouge one rewatch on patreon? 👀

Jude Rahim

I always felt like A New Hope was a little goofy like why would you make a super weapon the size of a planet that could be destroyed with 1 shot; but with andor and rogue one we actually see all the sacrifice that went into making that possible and realize that the true hero of this story is not Luke but Cassian. This show is genius.

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Bix's ending scene was reminiscent of Luke's Binary Sunset scene. Feelings of hope & longing. Rogue One rewatch will definitely offer new perspectives & the viewing experience will never be the same. The fact that Cassian will never know about his child or reunite with Bix makes his ending more tragic. On a bright note, their baby is alive during the sequel era if they want to explore that.

Anya

Same lol It's his own version of a force choke 😂

Anya

Krennic is the most unintentionally funny character cause why did he put his finger on Dedra’s head like that, it was so menacing but I couldn't not laugh 😂

Carrie

It's such a tragic irony that Luthen uses "I have friends everywhere" as his secret message. His reputation & commitment to the cause burned bridges & fractured relationships. He doesn't have friends everywhere. His monologue about sacrifice comes back full circle. I can't help but think inherently he wants friends but knows that it'll make it harder to do what's necessary. It makes his final scene that much sadder. He's dead & alone in a cold room despite all the good he's done. (Not excusing the bad) Luthen & Kleya's meeting came at the most opportune time when they were at their most vulnerable. Kleya is definitely one of the best characters. Andor actually have the best ensemble of female characters. They are well-written & are actually believable.

Anya

I hope the powers that be see the numbers and the reactions and realize there's a place for deep more adult themed star wars. This series enhances so much of the movies and shows which is a testament to how good it was. The show amazingly did exactly what it was supposed to. It built upon itself, delivered,, then was brave enough to slow it down to lead right into Rogue One. A p[political spy drama with the perfect amount of action that could have fit into any genre but luckily was set to the back drop of star wars. I'm trying to convince anyone who dropped off of star wars that this is a reason to get back in. Glad to know others agree. :-)

Chris

Andor is a narrative success because Tony Gilroy & team approached & planned this project correctly from beginning to end. Tony Gilroy understands the social & political aspect of revolution. The themes of revolution, oppression, fascism, & rebellion are Andor's timeline & climate. Referencing various revolutions in our history to inspire storylines & intertwining it with established S.W lore is masterful storytelling. The exploration of each character in the social hierarchy was just brilliant. From the senators with platforms to the everyday worker/people who offered intel/sanctuary. The "everyday people" brought heart to this story. Although they won't be the well known heroes of the Galaxy, they were just as crucial to the Alliance & their contributions helped forward the cause.

Anya

Andor does for rouge one what clone wars does for rots for me

Sweede TW

BEST Disney Star Wars live action writing/story! This was the most I felt connected to Star Wars (mainly the O.T.) It explored the same themes of destiny, hope, love, sacrifice, & community. I am a sucker for Jedi & Sith stories (mainly Legends) but I'll take masterful & connective storytelling any day. I agree, the previous shows focused too much on the "flashy" aspects/fan service. Fan service is okay if done right & if it flows organically with the story. Now, it unfortunately takes precedence over writing. It's bittersweet because of what could have been with The Mandalorian, B.O.B.F, Kenobi, The Acolyte, & basically all of their shows lol Y'all outro was so relatable. I did the same thing & had the same thoughts. I'm all in for a rant video lmao but I'll even take a podcast/discussion video about Star Wars as a whole.

Anya

Absolute cinema... Also if you get some people for a clone wars reaction my life is yours

Sweede TW

I’ve been a Rogue One trigger since opening weekend. I think I watched it twice in theaters. Diego Luna is one of my favorite actors so when the Andor series was announced I was hyped for it. Now having watched both seasons, I’m in awe at how freaking good it was. It is sad that’s over but I’m so happy that it happened. Gilroy, Luna, the whole cast and production teams did their thing.

Hayden Ton

Loved the Kleya episode and that they gave her a backstory, she’s just so cool! I wish her and Jyn could have met because talk about two girls with complicated adoptive father figures who had to grow up too fast. I feel like they would have a lot to talk about lol

Carrie

Thank you! It was nice seeing you guys' reaction to this show. But I haven't seen the first season and after a full season. I still feel like I know nothing.

jrnoodles

Kleya is just too good. I think she’s my favorite character in this show

Seth Aasland

i guess star wars theory is somehow small brain LOL

Tim Moore

We had to pause it temporarily but it’ll be back

I don't know if I expected too much from this after how much I loved season 1 but season 2 is a big let down for me. I think it is so overrated for what it brought. Nothing of real consequence happened. I haven't learned anything new I really cared about. Besides senator Mothma and Dedra... most of the other characters I couldn't care less about whenever they appeared on screen. Cassian and Bix whole storyline is so superficial and underdeveloped. Senator Mothma's actress is also partly the reason her character has any presence, but the length that was dedicated to show what kind of life she is leading, and how her daughter is forced to do the same as she once did... and all that depressing reality she has to live... all that could have been shown in less than a fraction of the time. Why did we have to watch the speech, the ceremony, the guests, the gifts, the dance, the yadayada... it is one example of how, again, this show spent so much money, time, cloth, set design... and did next to nothing interesting with it. Why don't they WRITE the interesting stuff? Instead they throw MONEY at everything. Why didn't they show more of the "fake" relationship between Mothma and her husband that hurt her so much or between her and her daughter that clearly despises her? Wouldn't these be an interesting point to DRAMATIZE and focus on further for the audience if you want to show the depth of consequence the life of a rebel is like and the emotional turmoil all that entails? But no, instead we get the never ending wedding ceremony with special effects, dances, dresses, make up and hair design... and Luthen appearing in every special occasion so he can barely get to say next to nothing to Mothma. Where is the interesting dialogue? Where is the interesting juicy FRICTION, PLAYFULNESS, TENSION, WIT, PROVOCATION in the dialogue, the kind that Lord Varys "the Spider" and Lord Baelish "the Littlefinger" never failed to bring to the table in GoT? I am aware of the abyss that stands between Andor's and Game of thrones' writing in every aspect, but can we at least expect SOMETHING interesting when it comes to characters dynamics and a plot that is not completely void of anything substantial? At this point, the whole plot of season 2 is just about the space between point A and B, in the overall Star Wars timeline, but all that occupies the distance between them is a whole lot of nothing. It was all just about connecting the dots. I'd like if more of the dots connected in somewhat less of a straight line, is all Im saying. There were so many gratuitously superfluous scenes, drawn out needlessly long that the hammering of their point broke the hammer. So many of them felt unnecessary and wouldn't change anything in the story even if they weren't there. So much walking around, looking around, sitting around, etc. And the Empire, oh god, their incompetence is REQUIRED for the story to succeed. I don't even want to go there.

Mysterious Figure

If you think about it, $300 million for the season comes out to $75 million per 3 episode arc. Each arc functions as a relatively self contained story that has a comparable runtime to a movie, since each episode is 45-60 min which comes out to about 2h15m-3h per arc. Compare that to the sequel trilogy, which cost $533 million, $300 million, and $416 million respectively. This show proves that Disney can produce high production value Star Wars movies for a fraction of what they have been spending. How is this possible? Because they got a writing and directing team that is extremely competent, let them have creative control, gave them the time they needed to produce the show, and most importantly, Disney executives did not meddle with the production. When you have a fully completed script, planned shots, and a team that isn't rushed, the amount of VFX time and reshoots can be minimized, which makes everything cheaper and the effect of that cascades to every other part of the production.

Melshi was in the prison longer than Cass so probably a higher tolerance!

Neemz

I read somewhere that Melshi and Andor didn’t get knocked out by the stun grenade cuz they’re conditioned to electric shocks from their time in the prison. Neat detail
