I read that due to deadlines they had to resort to CGI otherwise it would have taken them much longer to produce the 2D hand-drawn animation given that MAPPA was doing other projects as well. I would have been fine if they took their time and drew out the titans and used 2D animation like before for the titans, the CGI looks awkward and takes away the natural and fluid state of the fight

This was a crazy set of episodes! I was so sad when Sasha died! I read that the author originally planned to kill her earlier, but was convinced to do it later on because they wanted to keep some humor in the show. I don't think she and Conny were in love. I feel like they had a strong friendship. Maybe even brother and sister like. I also don't like this version of Eren. He definitely is dead inside and just seems hellbent on revenge. On one hand I don't blame him, but I'm also not sure this was the answer. I do hope we get flashbacks. Glad to see the girls are just as pumped as I am!

I know how a lot are pissed at Eren for being self-centered, and how he uses his great powers to manipulate the Scouts how he sees fit but we cannot forget how Levi many times told him he was ultimately the last one to decide how to live his life. Through and through he regretted his choices and lost people because he felt guilty Scouts were dying protecting his Titan. Now there is a whole aspect that is not totally revealed at this point in the story but it is so well-written, nothing is coincidental.

I'm not telling anyone to like her but I wish people acknowledged how much of a goldmine she is for Isayama as a writer to explore everything in this post-time-skip world. Again, I know some people know this and still dislike her but the show is actually radically lesser without her and the implications of her actions. Just feel like the people that don't simply dislike her but actually hate her are like people online that fall for rage bait. Like yeah that's part of the intention but you need to just slightly scratch the veneer and you've got the actual intention there

Maybe I am a bad person but I honestly didn’t feel bad for most of the people in Liberio, only children. They were sitting there cheering for destruction of Paradis, they were scared of Eren, but didn’t account children and people opposing him. I do feel sad that people have to die, but what were they expecting after trying to annihilate Paradis. I have a couple characters from different animes I continue to hate and one of them is Gabi. Her character development was very great and well done, I acknowledge that don't get me wrong, I just still dislike her. Obviously, my hate for her has dwindled down as the story went on and after the series ended, but not all the way down to the point of me liking her. People would say "You love Eren, but Gabi is parallel to him". Again, I totally understand that, but just because she is a parallel to Eren, doesn't mean I have to like her. The reasons/motivations and circumstances are completely different. I will forever love Eren, but Gabi, nahhhh I will forever be a hater😂

Yeah, I like the vibe too, but can’t deny that some Titans, especially Zeke - look bad, I just wish that they had time and budget to animate him by hand, especially because AoT became such a modern classic that is rewatched many times and will be watched by many anime newcomers. Blu Ray version sadly is just a relighting/reshading even with some lost details, like Pieck’s eye changing when she realized that she heard the ODM gear.

For me Sasha was easily the worst character in the show who was a major character. She really didn’t bring anything to the story at all except for bad potato jokes and talking about food. She had one or two moments but also messed up so many times. I’m not happy she’s gone but I’m certainly not sad either. Her story is far better now that she’s dead then when she was alive

One thing I didn't notice about Gabi until this rewatch is the WHY she went on a suicidal mission to the blimp. She says it outright but you're so shook it can easily go over your head. After this attack ALL eldians are screwed and her dream came into pieces so she had nothing to live for. To me, it made her crash out make more sense. Its surely about revenge sure, but also there's an added nuance that she had nothing else to fight for. No reason to stay and contend to be the Armored Titan.

In my mission to understanding Floch as a character more, I've really latched onto how his character contrasts Jean's (as evident in my previous comment) and the nuances that come with it. Both were shoved into battle without really knowing the horrors that awaited them and they both held the opinion that they should get to choose what they were dying for. It inspired Jean to fight the titans and it inspired Floch to fight marley. But because Jean has changed so much in that time, he doesn't represent the common soldier anymore. Jean can see himself in Floch but Floch can't see the same. Jean used to pride himself on the fact that he was a common soldier. Marco's words really stuck with him, but that sentiment doesn't ring as true anymore. He's still a good leader, an amazing one, but that's not because he isn't strong. He's really strong, as can be seen in how he lead the charge and almost took out pieck. Because of this disconnect and his unwillingness to be ruthless, his subordinates don't see eye to eye with him. They celebrate their victory in liberio while he is troubled with the morality of what they're fighting for. From fighting his friends as titans, having to go against other humans in season 3, and then learning about the truth of their world, he's seen that there's more to the enemy than pure evil. The others haven't gone through that and they can't understand Jean's problem. They now look to Floch, who has taken Jean's position as the voice of the common soldier. While his strength and morality drive him further away from his fellow comrades, Floch's typicality and ruthlessness drives him closer to them.

I’m so glad we get to finish the show with her, her and the girls are always cooking with their theories 🙂‍↕️ their analysis of the show and the characters are very nuanced it’s so fun to hear their thoughts every episode! I always find that sort of detached reaction odd to watch, but I think in this case, the girls were more celebrating the Scouts getting the upperhand. I remember watching Saving Private Ryan and my mom cheered when some guy got burned alive lol. Her character is complex, I can see that but She had that nature from the moment she was appeared on screen. If you look at her group falco zofia and udo they are all somewhat mature to their age. They think through before they do something. Even before she killed Sasha, In episode 1 gabi was killing the enemy with cold blood, even if they were not fighting Eldians. I know she is brainwashed but even her friends were not that driven to kill some unknown enemies.
