I personally don’t mind the time skip. I really didn’t need several episodes on purely just the grieving. I think it showed enough to give the audience a clear picture. I also don’t mind the traveling montage. Again I didn’t need to see several episodes of horse back riding. I have no idea what’s to come but the fact they chose to get through all that in these last 2 episodes and the fact that there is only 4 more left in the season, means there’s definitely more pressing things to get to imo. So I’m really not worried about the pacing.

Y’all seemed to have forgotten a couple things. So here’s a little refresh. FEDRA is like the government. Fireflies are the ones fighting back against FEDRA for freedom. But both groups have been seen to be very horrible at different times. Ellie’s first kill was her best friend/almost gf Riley, when they got attacked at the mall. Riley and Ellie were both orphans and were raised by FEDRA basically and trained to become members or whatever. Riley got placed on sewer duty or whatever it was called. So the rest of her live was gonna be shit, literally. She ran away and joined the fireflies. She came back the night before she was meant to be stationed somewhere else to say goodbye to Ellie. Then at the end of the episode, they kiss and Ellie tells her not to go. So Riley was going to stay for her but then they got attacked. And Riley turned so Ellie had to kill her. Idk about the coffee beans though haha. I may have forgotten something. But there was a cute scene between them when she smelled the coffee and thought it was gross. And Joel was always drinking it. Maybe it was just a silly, bittersweet way for her to say goodbye.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I really think Kaitlyn Dever should’ve been cast as Ellie, and Bella Ramsey would’ve made a better Abby. Kaitlyn actually auditioned for Ellie, but they gave the role to Bella and then cast Kaitlyn as Abby instead. Visually, Kaitlyn resembles game Ellie way more, while Bella honestly looks more like Abby. It kind of feels like Neil purposely cast Kaitlyn as Abby to make the character more likable. I like Bella Ramsey, but her portrayal of Ellie hasn’t quite hit the mark for me. Ashley Johnson set a really high bar with her performance in the games, and so far, Bella hasn’t matched that same emotional depth.

Great episode. I don’t see the problem with the 3 month skip. It’s quite realistic lol. Ellie took a harder beating in the game but left the next day? That always raised my eyebrow. I also like the involvement of all of Jackson’s opinions on Seattle. Honestly more Jackson involvement I really like. This didn’t feel fast paced to me at all as it’s actually faster in the game lol. So far I like the direction they’re taking in the show. They added more which I wasn’t expecting but I liked it. Will always love the scenes of Ellie in Joel’s house 💔 The whistles are here!!!!

What aspects are you talking about when it comes to realism? The biggest change by far has been the infected breach, which I thought was cool but entirely unnecessary. It did help to provide the town with reasons not to set out to avenge Joel, but there were plenty already. In the game, the council meeting doesn't even happen, and Ellie goes off with Dina. Tommy's role is significantly different as well.

I think having some actual understanding of Abby's motives helps people hate her less when compared to the game. However, I think the overall scene and its brutality were done better in the game. It's minor to me, but the way she finishes off Joel in the game is definitely better to me.

Lot's of comments/concerns with the time skip and changes made from the game. I feel like something to keep in mind is that it's easier to pull off unlikely scenarios in video games compared to live action television. A lot of changes can be explained by the idea that they need the show to be more realistic in some capacities. Yes, it's a show surrounding a fungus infected post-apocalyptic world, but watching this story vs. playing it makes a world of a difference.

Hard disagree here, especially with the Thorfinn part lol. It's just not a good idea to use up the resources required for such a journey. It also puts the community more at risk by taking away useful members of the community. Attacking another organized group also risks retaliation. The smartest thing to do is to recover from the raid while tightening up patrols to minimize the risk of strangers passing through unnoticed.

In the game, there isn’t a 3 month time skip between Joel’s death and Ellie and Dina leaving Jackson. They leave the next day or day after. So there was no council meeting, Seth providing them with supplies etc. I’m not sure how I feel about those changes. It felt like there was less.. urgency? I get that Ellie needed time to recover from her injuries (which were more critical in the show), but it felt uncharacteristic of her. I feel like the time-skip sucked away her all-consuming rage, which was an integral part of her character at this point in the story (which also ties into the story’s themes). On the other hand, they gave Seth his redemption and deeper look into Jackson as a community, which is a plus. There were a lot of other changes like Dina and Ellie’s relationship and an early introduction of that “cult”. I’m really skeptical of these changes at the moment, but I’ll place my trust in the showrunners and let them cook.

I think that joels death is very realistic. Joel has done a lot of things that doesnt really charaterizes him as a good person overall. But his struggles to protect those he cares about is what makes us relate to him. Even if his methods results in someones death(usually the enemy). But we were rooting for him to get the happy ending he deserves through his redemption. But that got cut off which makes his death a shock and somewhat traumatizing to most people. His sudden death makes his story incomplete. There was much for him to still do. Things that truly matter like reconciling with ellie.
