I already said this (sorry for repeating!) but while the visuals were all anime exclusive, all of Inukawa’s experiences were in the manga shown on journal pages (though some of it was more vague.) in the manga I definitely took it to be more of a horrific experience, but the anime tones it down a bit

The ending bit with Inukawa's abduction was mostly anime original content that ONE didn't write 😭. In the manga after it was shown he got left on the ship, there was just some text explaining he was returned after 10 days and that communication was hard, that was the whole gag.

Also I want to talk about Inukawa’s little journey at the end of the ep. In the manga, we only get snippets of Inukawa’s journal in between chapters, and it was framed to be quite horrifying. They capture a little bit of the dread in the anime, but it was a lot stronger in the manga. And yes, he was SA’d by the aliens 🥲 though not purposely, there was a huge language barrier. This series likes to take common tropes and twist and flip them to be more realistic, I took this moment to be ONE (the og author) exploring the trope of a young middle schooler getting isekei’d to a strange new world where he (usually) collects a harem. In reality, it would be horrifying!!! Lonely and awful!! Just like what happened to Inukawa Anyway, really one of the only negative critiques I have of the anime is how it toned down the horror that can be found in the manga. It doesn’t happen often, but there’s also another moment they really tone down in one of the last eps (no spoilers!) I don’t know if this was a choice of Studio Bones, or if ONE wanted it to be a little more light hearted, or idk maybe the producers wanted the anime to be less dark. I don’t know! It doesn’t really matter, it is what it is [:

I think all the feelings on the couch are pretty valid. When I watched the first episode, I thought it was a little slow and wasn't sure where it was going; This show always brings things full circle, but I was afraid it would disappoint. The art direction was beautiful, though. Into the second, and it brought my hopes back up with the theme. And then there was the end... (just want to ask ONE a few questions)

The very first scene of the show is supposed to be Mob’s fight with Mogami’s evil spirits! When they made the first season, they had no idea if they’d be able to continue the series, so they wanted to fit as much cool stuff without effecting the plot as possible. Call it a little sneak peak! This is also why they show Reigen and Mob’s backstory at the end of season 1! In the manga, the flashback happens later in the story, but in case they wouldn’t be able to make more seasons they HAD to show that part cause they loved it so much. Studio Bones is Mob Psycho’s biggest fan, which is why the series is so great from start to finish! I cant wait for you guys to get to the next episodes, it’s going to be great!

This was an odd but fun little episode. Inukawa lost his virginity to an alien. That's an interesting story to tell your grandkids. I'm wondering if the rest of the season will be random. Or if there will be one last battle. It's a shame Cannon wasn't there. I feel like he'd have a lot of reactions during this episode.

The end of this was so trippy I never expected it to go in such a way. That beautiful animation and sense of unfamiliarity had such a lasting impact after it was done that I really enjoyed it much more than I thought.

You need to watch Star Wars visions if you haven’t already, all of season 1 and the upcoming season 3 consists of purely one-off episodes made only by Japanese studios, some being WIT, production IG and Trigger. Season 3 will also be having sequels to some of the season 1 episodes and one of them has just been announced to have its own full season coming in 2026, ‘the 9th Jedi’. Please be sure to check them out on camera! I feel like you guys will really like some of them and a few are goated.

Yeah I totally agree. I'd love to see a show like Frieren or maybe something older, like a Cowboy Bebop. Honestly, I also think that MHA just isn't really worth watching, since it has a lot of episodes, and at least half of them are average.

I heard whispers of you guys already planning to watch MHA after this. Is it possible to have a poll? I think it'd be amazing to follow Mob with Frieren. I love shounen but if you watch Naruto-OnePiece-MHA all at once that is levels of like......... that's just memeing at that point. I think you'll enjoy these shounens a lot more if you space them out and get more variety - that way you can appreciate what the genre brings instead of feeling like you're watching the same thing over and over. (It's good you have some variety in the discord watchalong tier but that is not what your major audience will see when they look at your content.) tldr Frieren summer 2025?

The animation in Episode 8 is so subtlety gorgeous. Just the little face and hand motions, the leaves, the stars. It’s absolutely beautiful. The fact that they chose this episode to go all-out on slice of life animation is beautiful to me. It’s an appreciation for the memories of adolescence :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the episodes. They have a beautiful message about making memories with friends when you can and even putting faith in others. Then the wild fever dream meeting the aliens, Inukawa getting kidnapped and becoming the hero and king of their planet. It seems so wild and almost like it's not happening but at the same time fits perfectly with the show cause you're always wondering if things are actually happening or if everyone else is seeing what we're seeing. I love the telepathy club cause they're so real. They joined the club for different reasons and the two most passionate about the club ended up leaving and the other 3 brought them right back after realizing they were serious. It really shows kids in those awkward phases of trying to fit in and listening to your friends thoughts and ideas without making fun of them. this is just such a good show. Also without the telepathy club Mob wouldn't have branched out and met the Body Improvement Club, before they realized too the telepathy club started caring about stuff and being more involved in school and those around them that showed during the running episodes.

Sad that cannon isn’t here, I’ve always loved his enthusiasm when it comes to mob psycho One small piece of character development that I really like in these episodes is mob going from sort of just humouring tome and her dreams of meeting telepaths/aliens to going out of his way to find takenaka and help organize the trip to mt. mud boat. After dismissing dimple’s dream last arc, he doesn’t want to make that mistake again. I like this batch of episodes because it gives some side characters some added depth, ones that you don’t think too much of. You can always count on mob psycho to drive home the fact that everyone is “a protagonist of their own life”. They each have their own story that’s worth sharing. I also feel like the slow pace of these episodes acts as a sort of a transition period between the dimple arc and the final arc. I can understand why some people wouldn’t really vibe with it but I find it to be so endearing. Also yeah those last couple minutes of episode 8 are an absolute fever dream, I legitimately forget about it until it pops up again and I’m reminded of its existence lmao. I will point out though that those few minutes actually adapt some of the omakes that one draws at the end of every manga chapter. Omakes could be anything from one off jokes to little side stories like this one. I would recommend everyone to search up the “meat” omake if you have the chance, it’s really funny.

Mob is all about the character moments. I adore this little mini arc because it takes side characters we don't see much and gives them a story. That and the animation in 3x8 is fantastic.

The reason the second part (ep 8) had such fluidity and felt so different from the previous episodes is because it had around 20,000 frames, and I believe it was all hand-drawn too. Most anime episodes typically have somewhere between 3,000 to 5,000 frames, and the bigger, more intense episodes or anime might go up to 10,000–15,000. I'm sure there's even been an episode out there that went beyond 20,000. So it's kind of wild how much effort and time went into an episode that was pretty chill. Which I think is pretty funny and unexpected, making it pretty cool and different experience.

bro I still absolutely love this, I remember on my first watch also really enjoying it and being confused on all the hate, and after rewatching I still feel that way, such a good wrap up for the telepathy club The animation is also unironically crazy, just normal movements and expressions were soooo fluid, and the whole alien planet scene was so cinematic and well drawn, it's one of the things I still vividly remembered about this episode

Also for some context on why Inukawa got taken away to the aliens home planet Right before the gift exchange scene at 41:15 when Inukawa gestured his hand back and forth to the alien saying we're all friends, the aliens interpreted that as a sign of Inukawa wanting to go back with them which is why the alien stood up and pointed at him with the other alien giving the 'ok' sign lmao

Dude the aliens are so cute...stop lol I loved how wholesome, random, and funny episode 8 was. The animation was so creative and visually stimulating. It felt like one big mind trip... I enjoy side stories. And I can't complain since I've always been a fan of alien related things. I'm glad Tome finally got her dream after so long. This was such an interesting watch. This show truly never disappoints to amuse, inspire, and captivate. It's hard to not like every character. They all bring something to the story one way or another. Their friendship is so endearing. Sorry I didn't mean to make this so long... I just had a lot on my mind while watching this.

Season 3 is the epilogue and now we've concluded with Mob's schoolmates' storyline. Feel bad for Inukawa man wtf lmao I remember they announced before the season that there would be an episode with like 29k frames or something, which hyped things up so much, because everyone was expecting the most ridiculous fight scene etc, and then it ended up being this episode, particularly the segment at the end. I just love it, haha
