Yeaaa that was crazy but later on he died from his wounds

Kaylah

this has always been my favourite of the series (haven’t watched the latest one). I watched this in the cinema / theatre and it was absolutely unreaaaaal. I also had a soft spot ash 😭 having him go out that way was heartbreaking and having blue eyes see that 💔🥹

Billie

and ash and blue eyes were best friends💔

mei kobayashi ~ 美

when koba killed ash it actually broke my heart 💔so brutal and crazy because he was also young like caesar son (i think they may have been teenagers)-looked it up and he was actually 8 crazyyyy. But it goes to show that Ash was following the footsteps of his dad, rocket, by following caesar's teachings. It's a shame he was killed like that because he didn't even fight back and the others didn't fight for him because they probably didn't think koba was gonna do that😢 i agree this movie was intense.

It's unfortunate because the older movies are bad. Before they started using so much cgi.

I'd love to go more into movies featuring animals. There's a lot of natural horror movies like Lake Placid Anaconda Jaws Black Water The Breed

Vanesa

Sunrise of the reaping book out meaning movie coming soon aka the goat haymitch’s story😍😍😍😍 yep yep yep

Billie

U guys should Watch the hunger games series one day

G

When they went to the house, there was a x on it and that usually indicates infection so I think will died from the virus, probably early on.

BlueSmurf

Koba was a problem that needed to be eliminated but he had reason to believe humans would attack them. I think it all goes back to how humans treated animals before Caesar’s rise, and how humans do not believe the earth belongs to anyone else other than them. Tragic all the way

Mim

lol, we're all primates at the end of the day.

Rumaki21

you guys need to watch the original series after this and see the connections.

Ron Jackson Jr

prolly not. zoomers get the ick from old things.

marco

I agree with everything you said, except for Carver being part of Malcolm's group and causing more tension. Anyway, I have a Discord server where a bunch of others and I yap about these sorts of things lol. If that sounds fun to you, lmk.

TheSauceGuy

Are you guys gonna react to the original Planet of the apes movie after this trilogy?

Man Lit

Koba: makes the most demonic, conniving face while feigning submission to Caesar Jack: "aww he loves Caesar so much and would never ever hurt him in a million years" Jack has the survival instincts of a sheep lmao

marco

Haha I’ve noticed that too! And yea that’s a really good point! Kinda extending off my original comment, while in the end the apes (Koba) started the war, I will say to give him some credit in the beginning he did listen to Cesar and they went and showed force and Koba had his back. It was only when the humans came back that he started to really lean toward the deep end. And funny enough he was kinda right. If it wasn’t for Malcom the humans would have been on their way to kill them all. But he just couldn’t put trust into any of them. And while as the audience we know Malcom’s group is good, you can understand how Koba could feel like Cesar is prioritizing the humans over the apes by forgiving them over and over. I also like how it shows Dreyfus being ignorant and speciest(lol?) by calling them animals and what not, which like yea but their intelligence puts them up their with the humans. They aren’t simply *just* animals anymore. Not that just killing animals would be okay, but morally just being ready to kill a highly intelligent life form is pretty bad, when there is chance for communication. I’m not wording this right at all I’m tired af but I think my point is getting across 😂 Also that would be pretty cool to see ngl! Definitely an outcome for like an alternate universe if just a couple decisions were made differently.

Chrissy

so cool seeing you guys react to this!!

Bellaa

For me, it's primarily entertainment value; I don't want to see people on horseback, I want to see a laughing bonobo with two machine guns on a horse lmao. Aside from that, it's also refreshing to see the focus shifted, because humans suck. Humans are far more self-destructive than the other apes, largely due to our technological superiority, coupled with our lack of self-restraint as a species. The pandemic and resulting apocalypse were entirely caused by humans. In the real world, it's becoming increasingly likely that we'll just end up wiping ourselves out before another natural mass extinction event could happen. As a species, we blindly view ourselves as superior, placing ourselves on a different level from all other species. However, humans are animals, and we must abide by most of the laws that other organisms on Earth do. The blind feeling of human superiority alone is driven by an evolutionary mechanism beneficial to our survival as a species. This feeling has contributed to the exploitation of animals (speciesism), the destruction of environments, and interference in natural processes. If you were to eliminate all insects on Earth, this would have a more negative effect on the planet/other organisms than if you were to eliminate all humans. Obviously, most people aren't going to choose humans over insects based on their overall ecological impact, but rather through emotional connection. I could go on forever, because this is something I'm passionate about, but the longer I type, the more and more it just becomes me rambling.

TheSauceGuy

I feel like we have a lot of similar opinions/comments lol. I wondered the same thing, but yeah, both sides had members who could act rashly. It was up to the leaders to rein these people in, but unfortunately, Dreyfus (the humans' leader) was all for wiping the apes out. Unlike Dreyfus, Caesar prioritized peace and coexistence. It's interesting too that Malcom is Dreyfus' right hand, while Koba is Caesar's; they contrast each other just like the two leaders. I also wonder if they could've coexisted without needing to isolate themselves from each other. Perhaps the apes could help provide materials and food from the forest, while the humans could teach them and use these materials to help them create new technology. This would be a utopia, but I feel like it would greatly lessen the distrust between the parties. The issue would be controlling apes like Koba, who wouldn't want the humans to become stronger. If Koba could be controlled through proper communication, this time, perhaps he'd broaden his perspective on humans. If a bond could be formed between the societies, groups/individuals that attempt to betray the peace could be harshly reprimanded or outcast.

TheSauceGuy

Also my take on the beginning about how yall were asking how the humans didn’t know about the apes, how smart they were, etc. I *think* the only media exposure the apes had to humanity was the incident in the first movie. Cesar speaking was never like broadcast or anything, and I get the impression they went into those woods and basically vanished and humanity was dealing with the downfall of society. The apes stayed on the down low and probably didn’t cross the path of too many humans, and saw them from afar. They probably never went into the city, etc. Even the apes didn’t know human had built up that area. So I can see how it was shocking for both human and ape because they’ve just lived separately all this time.

Chrissy

I do wonder “what if” if when Koba went to go scout, he didn’t see all the humans gathering weapons, what could have been. He was filled with hate and suspicion and then seeing them getting ready for a fight that was all the confirmation he needed. After that of course he went on the deep end lmao. But I do think it could have maybe been different for him if he didn’t see that, and was able to see the outcome play out. But then of course there wouldn’t be a movie 😂 but honestly even then, I think the sheer fact the humans knew the apes were there it would have then just been a matter of time before they attacked because they’d still fear them.

Chrissy

Caesar got so much aura bro. What a goat

I thinkk the scene showing his family was the hint and reason Drayfuss killed himself. He clung to an idea, it was enough to lead his actions but not enough for him to value his own life.

I know most people will say Dawn is the best of the 3 but man War for The Planet of The Apes is also a banger

Brett

this movie is too fire

Anton Sakshaug

These movies are so good. I've been wondering why they haven't compelled me to rewatch them, though. The first one has incredible rewatch value while the next two don't have that same pull. Maybe it's to do with the pacing and length of the movies. This movie is so narrative driven and so much happens, but at the same time, it all happens rather slowly. Regardless, good reaction and good movie. I used to think this might be one of my favorites, but I'll have to watch the third with you guys to come back to that. EDIT: post-film discussion was spot on.

Steve

Crazy, can't imagine these apes surviving past 1 week, especially with the harm they've done lol.. Also xD how can anyone "root" for them against humans.

Hueki Yuuki

Such a vibe

Cannon Andrus

Oh wow….

Jackson Carter

I definitely agree with the will and Caesar thing, I loved that relationship! But you can definitely feel Caesars connection to him and see how his time with will influences him especially with the window being his symbol.

BlueSmurf

Underrated for sure lol, haven't heard anyone talk too highly about it and the first movie was honestly 10x better than I remember

Gabriel Mendez

Percocet and Red Bull🤣🤣

RipIsMySon

Thanks! Koba is a RAT! Humans and Apes could have had it all. smh

jrnoodles

Nah the third one has the least like massive set pieces like the tower in this one. It basically has one big scene/area and the rest of the movie is moving as a small group 🤷‍♂️

Kale

Erwin's charge has nothing on this moment for me lol 1:22:15.

TheSauceGuy

It's 4am and I'm not sure who else is watching this upload this late at night lol. I have my drink and some popcorn.

LuvStarburst

Personally, Koba is my favorite character in the series, even with how much he changed for the worse. However, I do wish we saw his character develop more gradually; his early movie character is like a completely different ape than what we see at the end. He went from risking his life to save Caesar to attempting to kill him within just a few days? He didn't even help his right-hand ape stuck under the rubble lol. I still think he's a good villain, especially if you've read the prequel novel that details more of his early life. Idk, maybe I'm just ranting, but his character progression has always felt off to me. I also do like how Caesar accepted that he was partially to blame for what happened, as he didn't properly communicate with Koba. When Koba pointed out his "human work," Caesar didn't try to explain his perspective or listen; he stood up to display his power over Koba. He didn't believe that Koba could so easily succumb to his hatred if not properly guided. Koba's fears weren't at all unwarranted either; had Malcolm not arrived, the ape clan probably would've been scattered/wiped out. At the end of the day, had there been better communication between all parties, things likely would've gone better.

The classics are classics, but mediocre overall imo

TheSauceGuy

Is it weird that the third film is the one I remember the least about?

TheSauceGuy

Koba was pretty "Shinso sasageyo" with that duel wield LMGs.

Niffol

the third is the best easily, so many parallels in it you'll see done so well

Toidleboy

I love this one so much! Have a nice day to anyone who reads this

ReaperCome PepegaAim

Jumping on the dog pile that I'm sure has formed in the chat. JACK! chimpanzees eat meat!

Niffol

Apes modern is pretty underrated, but not because of the content, its the release schedule or marketing. i forgot the new one even came out till like a month after. so people don't get crazy hyped like they would if they knew lol. The classics are VERY underrated as a whole. some of them are very much RATED. but there are my takes on it.

Niffol

Think this is my favorite in the Modern movies. Probably my favorite overall.

Niffol

LFG

Qhoa

I feel like if you dropped a couple hundred humans in the woods for 10 years with no access to technology, only the smarts they had, they would build a similar kind of society. How many humans out there actually know how anything works, like if you spawned in the wild would you be able to make gunpowder or internet in 10 years? I agree, the apes are cooking

Keanu Cullen

The apes already have the virus, they were either infected in the first movie or born with it as a new generation. The difference is that humans react differently because our immune system is weaker as stated in the first movie

Keanu Cullen

Jack did call it

Laundry

Love this movie, probably my favourite of the trilogy. Or quadrilles I guess?

Super Novice

Regarding ape speech, I don't think it's just about how long an ape has been infected with the virus, but rather how long it has spent around humans. Caesar was around humans for his entire early life, and Koba had been a lab chimp for a very long time.

TheSauceGuy

imo the last one is the best and i’m SO excited to watch it with you guys

leah

Jack, real chimps do sometimes eat meat, and they also sometimes eat other chimps. Ironically, bonobos (the species that Koba belongs to) are considered less violent than chimps and aren't known to eat each other. I like how the intelligent apes don't fully conform to the norms of their pre-virus counterparts.

TheSauceGuy

I saw the fourth film in theaters and it was absolutely packed.

TheSauceGuy

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

TheSauceGuy

In this movie Apes had humans to mimic. Inthe past humans had apes to mimic lmao

Josh Viz

1:33:15 Tapes support you @Jack💪🏻

Sly

Because Apes are better, anx always have been.

Conk

I feel like the Apes’ progress over 10 yrs is pretty good when you consider it took humans well over 150,000 years to even start building agricultural communities, and we only recently started building skyscrapers 😂 Let them cook!

Carrie

Only a select few saw the apes talk so it makes sense that they didn’t know they were very intelligent

a_daichi

starting and ending on the same frame of caesar is peak cinema

This one’s my fav of the 4 it’s been a grip since I’ve seen the 3rd tho

Alan

Okay Mckay thankyou lol, "do you eat meat?"

Keanu Cullen

The opening shot is so incredible. Matt Reaves has the sauce

Nrock23

I only just started the watch but jeez I hope someone tells Jack that chimps are omnivores like us haha

Keanu Cullen

Can some correct me if I’m wrong? My understanding was if the virus can pass between humans and make them sick would it not pass among the apes as well just make them smarter?

Sly
