to shed light to your comment about the 'jarriness' @Riksu. The reason for the 'cartoony' aspects was to also show it's craziness with it's intensity. As Naruto is a complete monster, animating him in this 'crazy-demonic' style is honestly imo perfect. Pain was trying to mimic the demonic and craziness naruto was outputting by matching it which is why we could see the facial expressions of a corpse intensify in this episode. To fully show that he's straining and trying as hard as he can to keep up with the nine tails and you can tell by just looking at him.

When 4 tails Naruto fought Orochimaru, Orochimaru did not have the use of his arms. The 3rd hokage sealed them away. Although when he got a new body his arms were no longer rotting off but he never regained his jutsu so he could not use any jutsu that required hand signs. Since fighting the 3rd hokage he had been nerfed to maybe 10% of what he used to be. That’s also why Sasuke was able to kill him along with him being on his death bed anyways.

Hinata is such a boss in these episodes. That was definitely the time for all the onlookers to jump down to help, but she was the only one. Plus, she was smart about it: her whole goal was to free Naruto instead of fight Pain. I got issues with how Kishimoto wrote a lot of his female characters, but he did right by Hinata.

One of the most moving moments for me is when Hinata is approaching Naruto, fully aware that death is inevitable, yet she keeps moving forward driven by everything that motivates her when it comes to him. She remembers how he always believed in her, despite the fact that she was considered a loser and a disappointment to famous Hyuga clan, lacking in many aspects, especially combat and initiative. As she struggles to move, Naruto’s words echo in her mind: "Go, Hinata!" What's even more courageous is when Pain asks her why she’s fighting even though she knows she’ll die, she grabs the metal rod that's taking Naruto’s chakra as if taking on part of his burden and pain 😣🥲 She responds to Pain with the exact words Naruto has always said, words that once felt like the opposite of who she was, but now with definite resolve, she claims them as her own: not giving up and keeping one’s word—that’s her ninja way 😭 This entire episode never fails to make me super emotional

You don’t need to like her but what she did was very brave and she was mirroring what Naruto has been teaching her all those years, standing up for her - despite not always being strong, despite being the ‘loser’, despite not having anyone else with him. He has always had a strong sense of justice and that’s what made her start to like him. He literally says to her she has no chance and she still did what she could, she broke those poles and risked her life in the process and still got out of it. were you not watching in og when we learnt about the hyuga branches? she has always been compared to her younger sister because she’s more stronger and is not as sensitive as hinata. neji always criticised her because she was from the main branch and did not have the personality and drive that he thought strong people and people from the branch and clan should act like and because she was born with everything he wanted and yet was a kind sensitive and not spoiled kid. Naruto never criticised her and this was her final moment of waking up and doing something brave? This was such a natural progression and a very badass move of hers. One of the best parts in this arc.

*Spoiler* First of all: Naruto definitely did *not* win the fight because of Hinata. Hinata didn’t contribute anything except triggering Naruto to lose control and let Kurama out. She didn’t even manage to lay a finger on Pain. I'm firmly convinced that if it had been any other character instead of Hinata, everyone would’ve hated on it. If, for example, it had been Sakura or Ino who jumped in front of Pain and got taken out within seconds, people would’ve screamed about how pointless the action was and how weak the character is. But no — because it was beloved Hinata, everyone celebrates that moment. Pain would’ve never been able to take Naruto to the hideout that easily. There were a lot of strong ninja who had just returned to the village and could’ve stopped it — for example, Guy-sensei. In Pain’s current condition, Guy would’ve easily won.

haha, well Demon slayer could've been like Naruto if it had 10 more seasons to explore different demons from other countries and superpowers but i dont think the manga artist wanted it to be too long. Most tropes go back to Evangelion especially the "big" picture evil anime villain plots. AoT is heavily heavily inspired by Code Geass and Code Geass is heavily inspired by Evangelion but does not focus too long on internal supernatural stuff. Most mecha series goes back to Legends of the galactic heroes and Muv Luv but they weren't as popular for viewers but the literature was there. Its pretty much impossible now to make something truly unique its more about adding to your own artistic vision and executing it the way you want.

Many animes will have many similar characters with similar motivations/intentions/goals because they have been a big part of history and anime storytelling but execution sets them apart. Naruto felt like finishing a book (not including boruto lol) while AoT felt like finishing a story. Code Geass can be worth your time (its in most peoples top 10 list on YT), was very very popular along with DeathNote, Fullmetal Alchemist and Gintama. Easily many reasons to disqualify it or find it charming, classic 2000s anime with many ambitious themes. If you watch enough anime you will see many are like Pain or Madara and the MC is always naive and hopeful.

The animation itself is great and very fluid. I think the issue a lot of people (me included) have with the episode is the directional choices. Adding cartoonish aspects to such a serious fight feels very jarring

It's such a great reaction coming from Jack's passion for what Naruto went through, Cannon's for rooting for Naruto and the fighting sequences, Carter for the action, and literally for enjoying these episodes. My favorite parts will always be Pain's cycle of hatred speech, Hinata coming out to fight for Naruto, and Minato's appearance at the end. Rewatching those last two episodes after not seeing them for years got me feeling emotional and nostalgic. I remember waking up super early before the bus came just to watch this arc and these episodes. The whole day at school, all I could think about was Naruto, replaying the fight over and over in my head. I love this fight so much, it's my second favorite in Naruto (my first is still to come). Those last two episodes were just so well done, from the music and lighting to the animation. And the culmination of everything that has happened so far, the way they built up the weight and tension of the fight was superb. It definitely reminded me of how high the peaks of Naruto can get.

It's a good point in reference to the show in terms of current/recent past events. The war in the Middle East is a great representation. Its basically been remnants of a Cold War with Russia, where both countries have supplied weapons of war to each respective side fighting battles, we replace democratically elected officials with our own and make situations even worse. The Middle East is basically a battle ground between US and Russia, where we are indirectly fighting, using people of their country. You can argue if it's good or bad, the point is it's a good representation of that matter.
