One thing that I really love in this arc is how the conflict is handled. Oda does this a lot, but I think this arc is the first time where it's part of the main plot theme: the way he lets all the sides of the conflict speak from their point of view to make the whole picture.

It also introduced a lot of things that come into play later. Jaya/Skypiea is in my top 5. Also Jack.... don't let them skip G8 that is one filler that HAS TO BE WATCHED!!!!

I don't understand how the story of the Shandians and the resident's of Skypia don't resonate or matter to you, especially if you're someone living in america. ESPECIALLY if you're a white person living in America. My ancestors have nothing to do with the Native Americans or America. But does this story in OP not make you think about the conditions of the Native american reservations in real life? Of history? Geks don't really look like they want to talk about that aspect of this arc. Almost seems like they're uncomfortable to even bring it up.

As for One Pace, they all seem to enjoy One Piece far more with the fixed pacing. If anything they are forced to watch the OG because of the community, I can only imagine how much higher they would have rated Alabasta with One Pace. I'm convinced there isn't a single arc that they wouldn't enjoy more with one pace over OG. Only arcs from here on out that really don't benefit from it imo are W7 and post EL.

Kari means Electric Illumination, also the name of a Malayan god of thunder. Like half the comments have already said, DO NOT SKIP any canon arcs. This is like skipping a season of a live action show. It doesn't make sense to. Especially with One Piece, something insignificant to you right now might have some importance in the future. This arc is the prime example of that.

A lot of manga translations and even some normal show versions have the simplistic japanese to english translations where they dont care about Ls not being pronounced right and what not so you end up with translations where it says "zolo" instead because thats the correct written form but japanese dont pronounce Ls so it sounds like zoro instead.

The only reason why ppl don't like the pacing of One Piece their first time watching is because the annex they get from wanting to be caught up.
