Long comment warning again: Just a heads up lol Aww I'm enjoying your replies too. It's fun meeting new people on here. I met so many cool and nice folks on the Gek's patreon. It's been a lot of fun. And no worries on being sporadic, I completely understand. Everyone gets busy with their own life. You know? Haha Yeah thank you. My parents and I went to an Aquarium because, I love ocean documentaries and have always been fascinated with the ocean in general and all it's beauty, mystery, intrigue, and wonder.... There's so much to discover and explore. It's amazing to me. But yes, I'll keep that in mind if I ever get into The Game of Thrones. The guys do have the best reactions I've ever seen. I enjoy watching their commentary immensely. It helps ease your mood when you're having a bad day. And I've heard so many good things about G.O.T. It's pretty highly rated/praised. Anyway, I think you would really like Underdog too if you love Weak Hero. I might watch it for a second time too actually. Yeah I excell at rambling and being random too :) Aww yeah, I got into Kpop before the big wave I guess. I listen to other groups as well but I keep up with NCT's content such as variety shows, performances, music videos, vlogs, etc and the same goes for Stray Kids as well. I do some with ATEEZ but I haven't been vibing much with their new music as much lately if I'm being honest. But I still love them. And speaking of ASTRO, I still miss Moonbin. I was so depressed and sad when he died. It didn't feel real at all. At least he's in peace now. But I felt so bad for Cha-Eunwoo and the other group members. I know it couldn't of been easy losing someone that special so soon without warning. And I like Enhypen too. I'm excited for their Coachella performance! Aww glad you enjoyed reading my post even though, I thought it was more on the chaotic side lol I agree, it was so neat that Weak caused us to meet and our love for Kpop too like you mentioned. Betsy! i've been sporadic with my replies too, forgive me. been a busy couple of days. i hope you're enjoying travelling! you and my cousin have the same taste in kdramas! if you ever do watch game of thrones, you should definitely watch the geks' reactions to it. it's an awesome fantasy show (for the most part). i'm very grateful to my cousin, you're right–it really is the best having someone close to me who has the same taste in media. 'underdog' you say? i shall add it to the list (probably also ask my cousin about it, hehe). about rambling: i don't think i know how NOT to ramble, especially when i'm passionate about something. 2017! you got into it just before the rush of new fans in 2018, i was a 2018 kpopper– arguably the craziest year in kpop. bts were my first group too, astro as well (RIP moonbin); i also love that eunwoo is branching out in terms of acting roles, as he should. i was as multistan as you can get in kpop for a really long time; exo, bts and nct were my main groups but i was keeping up with so many others (i was crazy and had too much time on my hands). i'm not really as invested in kpop as i used to be, i watch variety shows and random kpop youtube content more than anything else. seventeen and enhypen are the only groups i really stay up to date with these days, i watch their variety shows more than any other groups. going seventeen has been my comfort series on yt for years and enhypen i've been with since i-land– it's hard to let go of them. i'm sure there are loads of awesome love stories in jdramas; it's the bad ones i've seen that have made me cautious so i don't really gravitate towards them now. that and the sometimes cringeworthy acting. just an fyi- i love 'all over the place' when it comes to conversations so don't apologise/worry about not making sense because you did! it was a very fun read, i appreciate your replies and love that weak hero is what unified us (and kpop of course!). i hope we can reunite in a weak hero reaction comments section one day soon!!

Extremely long comment warning, so please brace yourself. Guys. I was trying to get everything in one post instead of separate ones but goodness lol Aww thanks, Saida! You're pretty cool, yourself! Hehe And I'm responding late since I'm traveling with my family. But yeah I'm obsessed with kdramas that have a good revenge story revolved around a school. That's neat she got you hooked on them. I find the stories so interesting. I haven't watched Game of Thrones but I love fantasy adventure as well. That makes it more special when you can share something you feel strongly about to your family. And it's funny there's actually a kdrama called "Underdog.c It sort of reminded me of Weak Hero. But I like Weak Hero More. The characters are more interesting and I prefer the acting over Underdog. But it has the bully/revenge story plot as well. Yeah Weak Hero deserves the praise. More people get to see its brilliance. And it's sometimes fun to ramble when it comes comes to favorite kdramas. That's cool you got into Kpop then. I've been a fan since 2017 when I discovered BTS, Blackpink, EXO. Now my favorites are NCT, Stray Kids, and ATEEZ. I listen to a few Wannaone songs. It was shocking when they disbanded out of the blue. And you're right. I love how Cha-Eunwoo is getting more known/praised for his acting roles and people taking him serious and not just been a pretty handsome face. Aww we like some of the same actors. Yeah I guess you do ramble more than me, Saida. However, I find it refreshing and it's been fun chatting with you. And some J-Dramas have less toxic storylines and show more healthy mature relationships, it depends on the show. I've watched so many. I switch around with Kdramas and Jdramas depending on my mood. The acting is less corny in Korean dramas though. Also that could be it they were trying to survive in Alice in Borderland. Anyway, I fully agree Weak Hero has some of the best acting/casting I've seen in a kdrama. The emotions hit so hard. And it's beautiful but a sad story. @Jozfna I get you, but I think it’d help them understand kdramas better too. It’d set up The Glory for them as well because although it isn’t set in a high school, the dynamics between the characters started in high school. So many kdramas are commentaries on Korean society and I think WH would help the geks understand the context of TG. (I guess it could work the other way around but the satisfying ending of TG would give too much false hope for WH…)

Betsy you’re awesome! my cousin is obsessed with high-school kdramas, especially the ones with revenge plots/heroes who fight back. she’s the one who recommended weak hero to me (i’ve been following her lead ever since she put me on game of thrones, her taste is almost always aligned with mine!). i’m with you on the underdog stories, they’re some of the best ones out there and weak hero does it in such a unique way. glaze all you want for weak hero! it deserves it! awh, i got into kpop literally a month before wannaone disbanded and all i remember is it felt like the whole world was grieving them. i think a reunion is due yano, it’s been long enough! I LOVE EUNWOO AND HYUNGSIK’S ACTING TOO! i will say, ever since i got into kdramas, i’ve consistently enjoyed hyungsik’s shows. up until recently, eunwoo was definitely a victim of type-casting, i’m glad he’s breaking out of that same “brooding, handsome, popular without trying” character type. i can’t believe you’re the one saying you’re getting off track/rambling because YOU READ AND REPLIED TO ALL MY COMMENTS AND I RAMBLE WAY MORE! weak hero has genuinely got some of the best acting i’ve seen in a show in a while, watching it was heartbreaking but i’m so glad i got to experience it! it’s the geks turn now please and thank you!! again, you’re awesome betsy!

No Saida, you're perfectly fine!! It's great to be passionate about something you love. I love fantasy dramas but I always gravitate towards the action/school theme ones more. Also I love a good underdog type story where the main character protects his friends and loved ones. Yeah that would of been even better if Weak Hero Class 1 was released on Netflix back then instead of Viki Rakuten. It probably would gave been super popular and one of the highest rated shows on Netflix. I glaze so hard for this show!!! Haha And I couldn't get into Twenty Five-Twenty one. I first saw Park Ji-hoon in the romance drama, At a Distance Spring is Green but then realized he was in Wannaone. I miss them. I'm a big kpop fan too. And I would have to agree with you on another point that kpop idols don't get a good rep but some are decent in their acting. I've watched a lot of Idol Dramas. I like Cha-Eunwoo's acting and Park Hyung-sik too. But sorry I'm getting off track. I really hope that Weak Hero Class 1 is the next drama. It's heavy but the emotions portrayed are raw and beautiful. I love the friendship in it. It really carries the show even further. The show is so impactful and made me feel so many things all at once... That's funny and cool that we are both rewatching it! i'm glad you weren't exposed to that kind of bullying too. i always joke about how i wouldn't survive in a korean high school and it's not even funny because it's true– i wouldn't be able to handle it. the laws protecting these bullies and the system in place that makes life hell for the victims NEEDS to change. i'm not gonna sit here and dictate to a country i'm not from, but the fact that so many shows/movies have bullying as a central theme SHOULD BE TERRIFYING.

YES YES YESSSS! sorry, i'm just so excited someone else is in agreement with me! it's one of my favourites too! you're right! the fact that it manages to grip the audience, when the majority of popular kdramas nowadays have some kind of fantasy involved, is such a testament to the cast and writers. I'M SO HAPPY IT'S ON NETFLIX TOO! i'm rewatching it right now, two episodes in and i am FEELING IT ALL! makes me wish season 1 dropped on netflix when it was released too, it could have reached an even wider audience. the fact that it's trending worldwide on netflix, even before season 2 drops makes me VERY HAPPY INDEED! SU-HO IS SO GOOD!! SO SO GOOD! my only exposure to the actor who plays him before wh was in twenty five-twenty one and he surprised me in wh: solidified my admiration of him and made me fall for his personality SO QUICKLY. that scene with jihoon in the hospital still makes me lose it bro (it was so funny and so wholesome!!!). PARK JIHOON I WAS ABSOLUTELY SLEEPING ON BEFORE WEAK HERO! didn't even know he was an actor man, knew him from wannaone and that's it. kpop idols who are actors don't always have a great rep, they are also usually type-cast because their acting range isn't there. Aww it's okay. It happens and yeah it's very physical and psychological. It's so sad how prevalent bullying is in Korea. It's make me thankful I went to school in the states even though, I'm Korean. I don't think I would of survived or done well with it. I hate bullying. And you're right again on how almost every k-drama or k-movie movie I've watched has some form of bullying in it as the center theme. It's so crazy... I really feel for the young students there. I'm been recommending it non-stop. It's one of my favorite kdramas actually. And it's such a gripping show. I'm watching it for a third time now. I love that it's on Netflix so, it can get even more recognition and the love that it truly deserves. It's a masterpiece. Si-eun is the goat but Suho's pretty awesome too! Hope they check it out before The Glory. Park-Jihoon's expressive eyes without even saying a word blew me away. He has so much emotion with his acting. The fight choregrahy is next level. You're totally right, the geks would go nuts for the Weak Hero Class 1!!

so guys, i'm sure you are absolutely SICK of requests and recommendations at this point– especially when it comes to shows you've probably seen requested for a while now. there is also no guarantee you'll even read this comment but i feel passionately enough about this to type it out. here goes my pitch: TLDR: The GEKs need to watch Weak Hero before The Glory!! I have a feeling they'll enjoy it more :). 'Why StudioGEK should watch/react to Weak Hero (Class 1, but Class 2 is due to come out later this month!!)' So this is a kdrama I KNOW has been recommended by many a patron, but for some reason I rarely see it recommended by itself. It's usually in a comment with a whole list of other recommendations—which is all well and good and NO SHADE WHATSOEVER to any other shows—but WEAK HERO DESERVES IT'S SPOTLIGHT!! I've been a patron for a while and a youtube only fan for even longer; I'd like to say I know your tastes in shows well enough to form a somewhat educated opinion that YOU WILL LOVE WEAK HERO. It has all the tropes you enjoy: friendships you have literally no choice but to be invested in, loyalty to the EXTREME, real-life heroes (it's set in a regular Korean high-school, similar to AOUAD except no zombies: the real monsters are the people), bad*ss fight scenes, emotional AF character arcs and well-fleshed out characters. I can't say much more about the tropes without getting into spoiler territory...BUT TRUST MEEEE! The acting by the entire cast, but ESPECIALLY our main character (Si-eun, pronounced 'Shi-oon') is on another level; I know I'm not biased when I say this because everyone who has watched the show is in agreement. My guy has the most expressive eyes I have ever seen. Anyway, this show is based on a webtoon of the same name: the webtoon is finished but the show is not, hence 'Class 1' being season 1 and so on. Now I am aware that you guys are quite new to the kdrama game, and by default, you aren't familiar with a lot of themes Korean shows touch on. You're seeing some bullying themes in All of Us Are Dead, but this show (also based on a webtoon) is quite light on these themes. I'm telling you all this to brace you for any future kdramas you watch AND because I want you to watch WH of course: BULLYING IS BRUTAL IN KOREA. It is a HUGE problem in schools, so much so that you will be hard-pressed to find a kdrama/kmovie that has a high-school setting where bullying isn't somehow included, if not a major theme. When I say bullying, I mean these 'bullies' are full-fledged psychopaths; what you saw of Na-yeon in this episode is literally nothing in comparison (in a regular Korean high-school setting, no zombies, the bullies aren't just petty–they are physically and psychologically abusive). Anyway, WH takes this to the extreme, if you guys aren't mentally ready for it, it's A LOT to watch. I don't consider this a spoiler, I just want you guys to be ready because I NEED YOU TO WATCH THIS SHOW!! Everyone on here recommending Weak Hero, please keep doing it! I enjoyed The Glory as much as everyone else but I think it'd be an injustice to the GEKs if they missed out on WH. Especially because they're aware of The Glory now, LET'S GET THEM TO BE AWARE OF WEAK HERO TOO! okay, thanks to whichever fellow waffler read all of this. i appreciate you ;).

But I’m looking at it from the characters’ perspective. I get that ‘you’ aren’t worried for her crush bc he’s goated (which he is), but SHE doesn’t know. Anyone in that situation would be worried, no matter their skill or not. So her concern was valid. And with the other girl, I get what you’re saying, she’s a human, too. But, she killed someone else for literally no reason, so if she decides to throw her life away, so be it. I wouldn’t be in a rush to save someone who killed my friend, either.

Gun laws are different in Korea, Jack. Guns are illegal and even the police carry mostly blank bullets on a daily basis. They hardly ever shoot to kill. In a case like that in the episode they most likely thought they were living ppl going rampant which you understand bc who in the real world would actually believe there’s a herd of zombies all of the sudden irl lol. But the average K-drama and J-drama series are typically not going to have any crossover for onscreen talent, and on the occasion they do that's typically part of the plot in which its made clear that the characters are different in being either Japanese or Korean. How much crossover there is for behind the screen, and particularly movies and such, I don't know

In Korean culture age is very important, they are taught that you need to respect those older than you. Even in the language Koreans use different honorifics depending on whether the person you are speaking to is older or younger than you. Using informal speech to someone you don’t know that’s also older than you is considered disrespectful. That’s why the students in the bathroom were arguing, because an underclassman was using informal speech to an upperclassman.

I liked Strong Girl Nam-soon but didn't finish it because, I didn't care for the later episodes. But it had good comedy and interesting characters. Plus, I like the guy who plays the villian, Byeon Woo-seok. I loved him in 20th Century Girl. And for Mr. Plankton, I haven't watched all of it yet either. Sometimes, I'm bad with finishing a drama... But Woo Do-hwan is a really good at playing all his roles. I really enjoyed his characters in King: Eternal Monarch and Bloodhounds. All in all, you might enjoy them if you like action comedy and also a sad but beautiful romance story. Well actually, I might give Mr. Plankton another try. Sorry I always make my threads too long without meaning to. I just love talking about Kdramas. haha
