Nami, Chopper, and Usopp aren’t the best fighters, and part of it is that they don’t really enjoy fighting, unlike the others in the crew. Chopper is mainly the doctor, and Nami the navigator, and they’re happy that way. Usopp is still finding his place, I’d say.

As someone who only reads the manga, any moment that’s not in the manga, I don’t really care for that much. The anime adds moments in order to elongate the episodes so they don’t catch up with the manga. It’s not something bad, it’s just something you have to do or you’ll run out of material. And for its worth, I think the anime does it well for One Piece. But all these “anime only canon moments” are added just to elongate and slow the pace down. I don’t really care for them.

Yes, I obviously have a lot more to see. From what I’ve seen so far, I do think Naruto has higher highs than One Piece, and even its lows are higher than One Piece’s lows. However, I’ve watched Naruto many times and am only about a quarter of the way through One Piece, so of course, I’m biased. I do think I prefer Luffy over Naruto though.

I picked One Piece back up after seeing you guys start it, and I have to say, I'm glad I did because it is very entertaining. When I compare it to Naruto, I think One Piece's floor and ceiling are both lower than Naruto, but I have been enjoying the show and am excited to keep going, especially after what I'm just seeing. I'm on episode 290 and the show has been cooking! Luffy is definitely a top three main character.

Battle shounen is a type of shounen that involves fighting as the focus. Yes one piece has its focus on the story of the characters, the adventure, and why they fight; but at the core Luffy must become the pirate king by...fighting. One piece IS a battle anime, but it's not the most battle oriented. It's story and emotion oriented.

If One Pace hasn’t finished the last episode before the Geks get there, then they’ll just watch the last two episodes in the original, and that’s it. So no need to worry.

The normality that I brought up is a thing that none of the Geks have really brought up so far, so I felt it would be cool for them to get this point of view. He's got his highs and lows, but he's always an important part of the straw hat crew. One Piece is not really a battle anime where everyone does cool shit all the time, for me the battles are the weakest part (not all of the fights ofc). Give Usopp and the story and the world building time, you'll get to love all of it in the end!

Btw the reason Luffy isn't a logia is because even though his body takes on the properties of rubber his body doesn't actually turn into pure rubber and can't produce rubber the same way smoker can make nearly unlimited smoke and turn his body into smoke. Also, another fruit that often gets mistaken as a logia is Mr. 3's Wax-Wax fruit. He can create his element but his body doesn't turn into wax. If he could produce wax and turn his body into wax his would probably be classified as a logia DF.

I’m going to out right say it, that section of the community is mostly delusional, toxic and doesn’t represent the reasons why most people experience/enjoy one piece. That community isn’t as big as you think, just the loudest online. One piece is one of the worst series to power scale with and I don’t know why they do it so much and take it so seriously. One piece isn’t about fighting. Dragon ball, Naruto, JJK and bleach are more similar to each other than they are to one piece and power-scaling is much more suitable for those series. What I’m trying to say it that the majority of fan powerscaling for one piece just feels forced and doesn’t represent the majority of the overall one piece enjoyers.

Btw to Carter, involving wanting to watch one piece like how everyone else watched it instead of one pace, here is a way to look at it. Let's say you were at an amusement park like Disney land. Now one piece is like going on the best rides but you only have the standard, so then you gotta wait hours in line, while one pace is more like having the fast pass! So both give you the same experience on the "ride" but you get to enjoy it faster, instead of having to wait forever to try it. Because let's be honest, it's a lot more enjoyable for both things, when you get to experience them a bit faster, compared to being bummed out by the wait time.

The thing about Usopp is that he's the closest to a normal person in the crew and the most comparable member to the manga reader/anime watcher following One Piece. He's weak and cowardly with no physical training of any kind but he always manages to survive due to his wits (or pure luck/plot armor) and that makes him relatable (and likeable for some). Just a correction. Enel’s fruit is the goro goro fruit. Goro is a Japanese onomatopoeia for rumble, the sound lightning makes. So a better translation is the rumble-rumble fruit, not thunder. A lot of devil fruit names are actually onomatopoeias, like smoker’s or ace’s fruits.

I wonder if they’re gonna skip the G8 arc after they finish skypia. I know a lot of people want them to because it will take up time they could use watching the next arc but a lot of reaction channels still watch it. And the G8 arc holds some of the most funny iconic luffy moments. And even though it’s filler the arc still holds up well in the one piece community. If they skip it I don’t mind either but I’m curious to see what they will do.
