It's like the first anime coded live action show i've seen that didn't come off super corny. The guy that plays Si-uen pulls it off. Such a fun show! I recommended it to everyone I know 🤌

Except the fact that apparently Korean names can be written in English with so many ways. Sometimes googling some actors name for example Sul Kyung Gu, Sol Kyung Gu, Sul Kyung-gu and Sol Kyung-gu is the same guy but differently written. I saw somewhere it even being Seol Gyeong-gu. The surname is said first but it's very easy to understand after a while. It even feels right to say surname first with Korean names.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe the Geks signed any contract that they would react only to greater and better things, or what I call “the best of the best”. As much as I would love to see Vikings and The Wire and Penguin, Band of Brothers, True Detective, Black Sails, Succession and my personal favorite THE CHOSEN, ect… knowing that some of these shows will be amongst the Geks favorites and definitely top 5, undoubtedly, it’s good to know that these shows will come later. Save the best for last is how I see it. I don’t mean to offend but Kdramas are mid in comparison, IMO, and I personally can have these opinions since I’ve seen just about everything you can think of (because I am the GOAT) but that doesn’t mean they aren’t entertaining enough to react to. Or have Amazing concept. Sometimes you just need fun stuff. Sometimes you just need to watch stupid shit. Watching peak after peak can be exhausting. You have to break it up sometimes which is what I would do. With that being said, I would recommend folks get out of their comfort zone and watch things you wouldn’t normally watch. Be open minded and know that whatever the Geks decide to watch, it ain’t going to change anything. Someone will always be mad and someone will always be grateful. If we are only voting for things we have seen then we are still missing out on potentially amazing tv. Who knows, you may come across something you like.

Lol and yes I loved Love Between Fairy and Devil but I partially watched it for Dylan Wang since I loved him in Meteor Garden. I was curious and wanted to see him in a fantasy role. I'm still watching The Blossoming Love. And I know Til the End of the Moon gets high praise. However so far, I can't get into as much. I've never heard of Goodbye my Princess. But I have heard of Lost You Forever. Before, I was watching the modern ones. I've watched several of them. But the lore of Xianxias are so captivating and next level... 😲👀

I guess it's because, I watched so many over the years. Therefore, I've gone back to Chinese dramas. I've really taking a liking to historical fantasy ones such as Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, The Blossoming Love, The Story of Pearl Girl and Love Between Fairy and Devil. But people in Korea don't call it that I think, they say tv show and drama is for dramas I guess. Same with k-pop, outside of Korea, people call all Korean music k-pop, even if it is hip hop or ballad, within Korea it is only for groups in k-pop industry. btw in Russian, we say Dorama for all Korean tv shows, cause Koreans tend to pronounce English word drama like that, or at least how we, Russian-speaking people, hear them pronounce it. Their names sound different sometimes cause they add suffixes like Isak-i to make it more friendly or add words like Teacher or even skip the name and say older brother or something. I - is like "e", A - as like in "Mark".

2025-03-26 23:51:52 +0000 UTCthe one problem is I can't really see how the show will drag this out much longer, we've already gone through all the zombie movie classics (person gets bit, hides it, safe room is no longer safe, moving safe places, pushing hoards of zombies in cramped space) like are they going to continue with the same formula? Where do they get 3 seasons worth from, it's episode 2 and it's starting to feel kind of dead. Will definitely be interesting to see where they go with it (hopefully somewhere new). Also I don't like how Korean media REALLY seems to rely on the annoying/asshole character archetype to keep things interesting, like this sweater girl does not need exist. You can make an annoying character but please do it well, she's being annoying just because she's "the annoying girl"

But kdrama/jdrama are most of the time very cheap media that gets a lot of attention while some GREAT shows like severance never win the polls or get even as much attention here on patreon. But tbf this is a very young channel so they have A LOT to cover while channels like Normies or YaboyRoshi already watched all those shows so they don’t have a high competition for what to watch next. This leaves fans here on Cineme/Studio Gek a big more feral than the other patreons I’ve been to lmao. Anyway, I just hope that they won’t focus too much on kdrama/jdramas after this show and Glory because that is the whole genre that I genuinely don’t want to explore since it’s honestly something I (no matter how much I try) can’t seem to enjoy. I love kpop and Korean media as well as anime but in terms of live action they just can’t compete with the quality of American shows🤷♀️ not that I blame them no other country makes such high quality tv shows due to its very long and developed industry. Others are catching up ofc but there is still long road ahead other than few hit shows here and there

Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean that everyone else wouldn’t like it either. People recommended it because they enjoyed it and thought the geks might also like it. The geks didn’t like haikyuu at first but gave it a chance and ended up really loving it.

Its just a shame that top live actions like Severance don't do nearly as well as kdrama/jdramas like AiB on youtube because I've definitely noticed a difference in quality of writing (at least with the ones we've watched so far on this channel).

While I understand a focus on YouTube performance, the requests from long-time Patreon supporters for shows like Succession, The Last Kingdom, HoH, etc. feel neglected. Even outside of those there’s still plenty of universally acclaimed cinema left to cover so it feels strange to keep exploring this territory right now. Further, now that we've opened the can of worms of KDramas and the like (nothing wrong with those btw), I envision these long-requested shows never winning a poll with the incoming new patrons. This isn’t about liking or disliking any one show, just an overarching observation. Love the channel and wanted to share this perspective to consider

The reason why zombies wouldn't work irl is a few reasons. If the zombies are like TWD then people become zombies after they die. For a body to move it needs blood flow through the muscles, and when a person dies the heart stops pumping blood through the body. A.k.a meaning that zombies wouldn't even be able to move let alone walk around. Now if we ignore that fact, the zombies would also be going through rigor mortis, which is when the body begins stiffening up. Now do you know where it first begins? In the first 24hr the mouth is the starting point, meaning that a zombie would lose its ability to bite in the first day. Next is the torso and arms, so on the second day they wouldn't be able to grab or scratch anyone or thing. And finally it would be the legs, making them unable to even walk or move around. So even if the virus still lives in the brain of the bodies, zombies would be not too dangerous in a day or two and completely useless by the third day or so. So! If a zombie apocalypse happens, stay in-doors everyone for a couple days to maybe a week to be extra safe. After that you should be free to walk around outside without much fear. Now if the zombies were like world war Z, then it would be a bit more complicated since they are still usually technically alive while it is happening they just become infected by the virus that makes them run wild, similar to rabies in animals. The best course of action would be the military firing down on the infected. They wouldn't need to land an instant kill to the head to take them out, just hitting vital organs and then letting them slowly die off on their own, until they stop moving from loss of blood/no blood flow through the muscles. Or they could begin rigor mortis as well. So I'd say it may take a couple weeks to a month for humans to fix the problem/clear them out. (that's if people were smart enough to realize how a body works post mortem, which many don't seem to)
