This was short and crazy season. The girls were speculating whether or not they had to eat a person to become human again. This is my first watch so for all I know I'm wrong. I don't think Berholdt ate that guy. I think he just took his ODM gear. Not sure if he killed him in the process. I think Ymir only turned human after devouring their friend because he may have been a Titan that could also shift back into human form and maybe when she ate him she inherited his powers? I was also confused as to how Ymir and the other titans originally turned into the Titans. They were pushed off a wall, but it seemed like there was fire below. So I hope they go into detail as to how titans came about. I liked both season 1 and 2. But I will say that this second season was trickier because it's short and I would like to have seen more character development like Bradlynn mentioned. I was sad when Hannes died. But, I'm glad Eren was able to finally get revenge on the Titan who killed his mom and then Hannes. Hopefully he can learn how to use that power more to control the titans. I hope in season 3 we get to see the other side more and get some more incite on their goal.

Hannes wasn't fooling around or trying to take revenge. They were in a completely open field, highly disadvantageous for even skilled ODM users. Hannes knew himself he was just an average user with no experience of fighting titans. In an open field, unless you're really fast like Levi or Mikasa, you're bound to be caught by the titan unless you keep moving around like Hannes did, making it harder to get a kill shot. The BIG difference was that first episode, Hannes had good ODM environment but was too scared and unsure of his ability to take on the titan.However, this time, he took it on in even worse conditions because of Eren and Mikasa. His dying gaze is not of fear. It shows him relieved as he finally got the answer to his question, "What would've happened if he had stayed to fight in ep 1?" He got the answer. He would've died along with Eren and Mikasa. So HE'S GLAD HE DIDN'T FIGHT THAT TIME.

When I first watched AOT I watched in dub for the first 2 seasons. There are some positives for the dub and one if them is the voice actress for Ymir. I feel like there is more humour/sarcasm (and like-ability, not just a rat) that comes across in dub. But i might be missing that in sub so that’s on me. I always liked Ymir, an outcast and it was interesting to see her back story.

Ymir is in my top 10 favorite characters of the whole show. My list of favorite characters is questionable, but I think all 10 have very good storylines and Ymir is one of them. She was just an orphan who was taken in and used for these cult things, then she finally got her freedom and met Historia, gosh her story makes me tear up. What a badass, who also has a heart to feel not only for Historia, but she also saved Dazz, she saved Berthold and Reiner too, she saved a bunch of people on the tower in episode 4-5 as well. As much as she says that she is selfish and lives for herself, the only selfish thing she did is make Reiner and Berthold take Historia earlier, a selfless hero. Erwin is nuts and we love him for it, bitten arm didn't stop him for being a GOAT. Rip Hannes, I cry every time I watch you die. I think him dying is a full circle moment. He always blamed himself for not being brave and saving Carla, little Eren also pointed it our for him, but he saw that bravery can only get you so far and he did a right thing by saving two 10year olds back then who later became so important. It is realistic, things happen, you never know consequences of your choice. That's why we love AoT for being realistic and relatable. Bradlyn (I hope I spelled your name correctly), I do like Connie, but I don't get how he is your top 3 characters haha Season 2 is a gem <3

When he is told that Marco died, he also laughs at first. With respect I'm gonna have to disagree the haikyuu thing is something I saw the entirety of the fandom type out explaining every single episode since the end of s1 and it wasn't acknowledged and understood until deep into season 4 when the confusion already happened and it didn't matter. That's the past though and its ok I know yall watch a lot of shows at once and posts a lot but its still hold true, mob psycho has had me and many others telling yall every week that past 2x9 there's no more spoilers in all op's and ed's but still no word if they'll end up watching them before s3 ends like everyone wants. Season 2, ep 12, is still one of the best of the series. Erwin's "Advance!" and Eren's coordinate control were so good. Also yeah Eren WAS kinda laughing when Hannes died, but it wasn't because he was happy about it obviously. It was basically like disbelief, both at how weak and powerless he still was and that Hannes died, but then it turned into pure grief and self hatred.

If you're looking at her personality, then we haven't gotten to see much outside of her wanting to protect Eren. Only two of them aren't really related to the plot of the main show; these are "A Sudden Visitor" and "Lost in the Cruel World" (Mikasa's Lost Girls OVA). "A Sudden Visitor" should only be watched if you want a more light-hearted refresher from the show. "Lost in the Cruel World" (Mikasa's OVA) is odd, but it's super interesting and acts as the base for a lot of popular theories in the series. I think you, in particular, might really enjoy it.

It was probably a combination of her attitude and her going against the protagonists. Going against the protagonist without being a direct antagonist is an easy way to make an audience dislike a character, even if it doesn't necessarily make sense. For a lot of people, it's an emotional reaction. I will say that romances kind of feel out of place in the show though, but I didn't mind Ymir and Historia's relationship.

Everyone as in none of the main characters and the majority of everyone else. Hannes is the only significant character that really dies. Erwin survives losing an arm no biggie and any of the other main characters that fall or get grabbed are completely fine. At least with Erwin, he had people defending him, but even then. Meanwhile, a titan somehow SNEAKS up on the Military Police lmao. Mikasa got grabbed because she wasn't paying attention for one second, while Armin stands on top of Reiner to do this whole entire speech while not paying attention to his surroundings at all lol. There is a lot more that I could list, but our main characters never/rarely deal with the same scenarios these random soldiers do.

This could've for real been the ending, one where they're powerless and everyone dies at that moment by the titans. It truly felt like it too, with the atmosphere, the bittersweet and tragic music and Mikasa trying to say her last words to Eren. It could've been the ending if Eren didn't clutch.

Everything about this show has 10/10 rewatchability. There is no point that it ever declines. It is just fantastic from start to finish. Yes, there are some arcs that I didn’t enjoy AS much as others, but I still loved them all. There is truly no point in this show where I wasn’t 100 percent locked in. Also, I really appreciated season two a lot more on my rewatch.

Bradlynn and Eve, if you think you're dumb on your first watch, Carter and Cannon must have been lobotomized during their first lol (I was too, but I was like 14-15 for S2). You have caught a lot of things, but you can't catch everything, especially without already knowing what to look for. Even after having already watched, you can still miss things. If you want to catch as much as possible, try to pay close attention to the casual dialogue between characters. A lot of things are just so casually revealed that they fly right past viewers lol.

Okay Carter, can you confirm whether or not you guys plan to watch more of the OVAs this time around? I saw you already watched No Regrets, but Ilse's Notebook and the Lost Girls episodes (2/3 of which are centered around Annie in Wall Sina) are great. All of them are worth watching if you've never seen them before, but at least these three episodes should really be considered. I don't really follow why you WOULDN'T watch them unless it's for scheduling reasons, but it's up to you guys; it'd just be nice to get a definitive answer so people like me can rest.

Initially it’s confusing to see Ymir go back to help Reiner and Bertholdt, but on rewatches I realized she was actually being true to herself in that moment. After she turned back into a human, she tried so hard to be selfish and think only about her own survival because she believed everything that happened before was her due punishment for “lying to herself.” Which, ironically, I think was in itself another way of lying to herself because if any normal person looked at her circumstances, they’d point out the fact that none of what happened to her was in her control whatsoever. So I think this ending was actually really fitting for her, because she knows what’s in it for her by going back with them, but she does it anyway because she’s at her core a compassionate person. She doesn’t say it outright but I think/hope she accepted that about herself in the end. Or maybe she was still punishing herself idk. Either way it’s really sad. K bye I’m gonna go cry now.

Season 2 is great on a rewatch. Also Ymir is just such an underrated character. Side note, I feel like it’s okay to clarify things that happen in the episode. If y’all don’t agree I understand but here’s some things I would have pointed out personally…. As far as Ymir I feel like it’s okay to point out, she was taken by someone and given a name. She looked like an orphan. And she said she was a titan for 60 years. And when they theorized about having to eat a human to turn back into a human every single time, how does that explain every single Eren, Annie, Reiner, Ymir and burrito transformation we’ve seen. 😅 I don’t think it’s wrong to clarify that. It’s all things they’ve seen. But I understand wanting to not push people a certain way.

Riley has been so locked in, I was shocked how on point and fast her call outs were in this one. Man, season two cooks so hard. Phenomenal rewatch. Idk if it's a hot take but I think the art visuals and "cinematography" of this season, particularly the last couple of episodes, is the best in the whole series.

Everyone I know of refers to Season 2 as the slow season because it seems like it's mostly information dump. However Season 2 is really dope. You literally get 3 titan reveals, multiple titan fights, the reveal of what titans really are; and the reveal of Eren's true potential.

The boys have their own little character arc with Ymir, and I couldn't be prouder. Connie and Berthold also both some great moments this season that I think the re-watchers will come to appreciate their characters more. The feeling of being unwanted and unloved is a core conflict for many of our important characters, and having it introduced this early on—though confusing—does so much for the show later on. Also, just a prediction, but I think Bradlynn will end up enjoying the whole of AoT the most out of the ladies - but I can realistically see all three really loving it for different reasons.
