Thinking about it more, Lumon is in a really rough position. Innies are now in control of the Severed floor of this building. If they turn the switch to get them all to be their outies then they would be exposing outies to what they actually do, so they can’t afford to do that because it would condemning. So the innies are going to have no choice but to hold their ground on this floor and try and push back against Lumon whatever way they can. And now Gemma is in the outside world (hopefully, if she wasn’t caught again) and if she can get to Ms. Cobel and Devon then they’re in real deep 💩 Blue was the thematic color for this season. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of red next season instead

I completely agree. I honestly thought the majority of folk would be on iMark’s ‘side’? Like isn’t he the one that we bond with the most? Isn’t part of the show’s message that outies are deserving humans too? I’m so glad they went that route because it made sense, why would his innie kill himself for oMark who has shown he doesn’t care about him.

I don't think those who don't understand Mark S realize this: we can be innie too. As harsh as the truth is, not everyone can be a protagonist; we can only live in the moment and follow our hearts. That's why I loved the ending：even if there was nothing but darkness ahead, at least I was in control of my own body. Quite a wonderful ending for a series like this.

Perfect finale, I love how they made two iconic season finales back to back with totally different vibes. Season one's was heart attack inducing whereas season two was this surreal blend of comedy, violence and misery. Imo, season 1 is where you fall in love with the concept but season 2 is where you fall in love with the characters, so it's slightly superior to me. Almost everything we've learned and grown to care about regarding the characters and their relationships with each other was developed this season and it was done so well. I did not like Milchick and Cobel last season, and I didn't even know who Gemma was - I think season 2 deserves way more credit for its character development. This is also the only love triangle/square I have ever not been pissed off by in fiction. They created the worst set of conditions where you can't help but feel awful for everyone involved and understand where they're coming from.

A lot of people seem to think innie Mark is just being dumb, but he has 0 guarantees that if he goes through that door that he wont just be dead forever or reintegrated which he also doesnt want. A big point of this episode was making it clear that innie and outie Mark want very different things. I also think the situation inside isnt that hopeless to the innies. Seems like the innies are going to occupy the severance floor next season with Helly leading a rebellion. With C&M and MN alone they have 50+ people and as far as we know the cotrols to the severed people are on the severance floor. As soon as those 50+ people all don't come home, a lot of families on the outside are gonna ask questions so I doubt Lumon can cover it up or harm the innies.

Am I the only one who tends to favor iMark? I was so frustrated with oMark at the beginning of this episode for talking to his innie like he was a little kid with a crush whose life and feelings were inferior. To me it wouldn't have made sense for him to leave with Gemma like that. He was in love with Helly, and in his position, I would have done the same thing even if there was no guarantee of survival. However, after how the i vs. o exchange at the cabin, I hope that Cobel and Devon were smart enough to come up with a plan to ensure Gemma's safety once she got into the stairwell, since iMark had proven to be compromised.

I don't believe you believe we should wait to the very end to make any judgement. If every episode was mark sitting on a toilet for 40 minutes in silence I don't think you'd be saying we need to withhold judgement to the very end. They teased us with reintegration this season for no reason. It could be avoided by signaling that it would be an ongoing processes that would be more meaningful as time passes and boom now the proper expectations are set that maybe this will be meaningful in season 3, so we don't need to fumble around with it now. Instead they gave us two cliffhangers that lead the audience to believe reintegration is happening now, and right at this moment everything changes but instead it meant nothing. It's all about setting expectations and delivering. I fully understand the show and dialogue is supposed to be weird and quirky. It's a unique, weird universe and that's fine, I like that. That's not my complaint (although sometimes it is weird in a bad way too "We need to enhance. Speed up the process" makes me cringe every time). My complaint is when characters words (or lack there of) are not aligned with their motives. The characters in season 1 were grounded in that they actually spoke and acted out of motivations that made sense for them. Mark and Devon were standing there with Cobel for hours, and they seemed to have no sense of frustrated curiosity in regards to his wife, like why, how, when, what is this all about. He would be asking so many questions, yet we get nothing of this. That's just one example. I may sound overly harsh idk. I really like the show, I just want it to fulfill it's potential

I find this critique very.. odd? they are obviously setting the ground for reintegration, Reghabi, Irv and other things to come back in a more meaningful way in the future. You said it yourself. So i don't understand the point of complaining about it now when you didn't have a chance to look at the completed body of work. Personally I like season 1 more because of how new, fresh and unique it felt. It was also a binge so I haven't really felt slow parts. BUT objectively season 2 is def way better than season 1. It has way more stuff going on with plot and has some of the best episodes of the whole series. One thing it lost compared to season 1 was the weird slow mystery of it all but that's understandable and impossible to avoid. If season 2 was like season 1 in every sense it would feel more boring

It's funny how Carter was surprised at iMark's stubbornness when this is the man who made the legendary MDR coup happen. The whole visiting other departments when Cobel told them not to and overtime contingency, the entire charade was organised by him and the other innies. If anything iMark has shown his will to fight and live over and over again. The only time he is different is in the beginning of the series.

I think a lot of people are downplaying innies and putting them at a lower significance than outies. The point is they ARE real people and they matter as much as outies. Helly x Mark and Gemma x Mark relationship are both meaningful. Why would iMark sacrifice anything for oMark? iMark doesn't care for Gemma and if he exits the door there is a high chance he would literally die. Everything he says and does makes sense 100%. If the whole series was from his pov no one would question his actions.

A thrilling finale to a very weird, structurally incoherent season. Most of the episodes were at least decent on their own, but man, looking back as a whole it felt directionless until the last two episodes. What was the point of the whole reintegration thing? If it comes into play later somehow, fine, but that doesn't take away the fact we were basically edged through numerous episodes and cliffhangers for absolutely no pay off. They could scrap all of Regabi and reintegration and nothing would change, except there'd be less ridiculous dialogue. Mrs. Huong came and left, for what? It backed up some themes of child labor and things, sure, but was irrelevant plot-wise. Again, I'm sure it will be addressed later, but it doesn't matter now. It also feels like we're being jerked around regarding the technology and competence of Lumen. There are cameras watching and recording everything, then they took them down. Then we see actually there are other employees watching MDR from their computers while they work, then Mark and Helly are having secret whisper conversations at their desks and they don't notice? Why hasn't Mark been asking any questions to Regabi or Cobel? Could say similar for Irving as well. Many conversations are just left hanging when the characters should really be far more inquisitive. Lots of unnatural character dialogue and choices, especially when compared to season one where the characters felt so real and grounded. There are numerous little things like this that have been accumulating. This season felt like 2 different writers fighting over which direction to take things, flip flopping every episode. The first season had such a strong focus on the characters and really made you care about them, as they drove forward a cohesive plot. Meanwhile, season 2 felt like it largely abandoned the care for our characters to instead explore several incoherent plot lines where half of them didn't matter. Overall I do like season 2, and still definitely recommend the show, but am generally disappointed in it after the very tight, focused, and cohesive season one.

Tbh I agree with Carter. Both seasons are good but the slow burn season 1 had was so good. HOT TAKE: I think that season 2 gave away a LOT of information for just one season. Honestly, they probably could've held off on Mark's reintegration until the finale or even next season. VERY HOT TAKE: Had they switched things around a little bit, the Cobel episode would've been an amazing finale/semi finale.

Btw now you guys should watch SUCCESSION aka the peak of the peak. Severance so far has been the only show that was able to compete with its consistent quality. It's also pretty underrated in terms of popularity so PLEASE give it a chance. These shows are really good to watch back to back despite being very different. Some of the actors from Severance even play minor characters in Succession too.

and this isn't to say I don't have problems with Invincible, but they aren't even close to the same extent as Severance, I feel like Invincible has been an upgrade from the other 2 seasons for the most part (besides animation, that stays the same), unlike Severance. I also don't watch Invincible specifically for the story, so my rating mainly comes from the action and how much I enjoy watching it, same with Solo Leveling or JJK.

Overall, probably a mid to high 8. I simply enjoyed S1 of Sev way more than S2 and rate it so much lower because my expectations were not met. Milchick carried. Episode 8 could have been 5 seconds long. Episode 7 showing stereotypical dead wife trope stuff, they try to make me feel invested in Gemma and Marks relationship with grainy generic happy oh we are soooo in love footage, look at us dance and cuddle!! It gave us answers but it was an overall mid-episode. The main issues I have with episode 9 is the fact Cobel was let through security checkpoint to get to the cabins. She is an ex disgruntled employee who is on the run from Lumon, they had multiple innies revolt in S1, fast forward to now and their security is STILL so low level they let Cobel through? They didn't think to upgrade their security from bronze to platinum, or at least gold after S1??? Or atleast send an email to the skeleton crew security team at the bare minimum that shows Cobels face? I know the answer, it's the classic trope about HoW eViL eMpIrEs ThInK tHeY aRe ToO bIg ToO fAlL and invest nothing into security, and I simply dislike that. AT LEAST CECIL LEARNED HIS LESSON AND PUT SOME ANTI VILTRUMITE SECURITY IN THE HALLWAYS!!! But I guess I could put that aside as the security is completely clueless and not let in on the company drama and blah blah. But when Cobel and Mark are waiting until dark, was their no conversation? Such as what is cold Harbor, why did you guys kidnap Gemma, how did you do it? Really, Mark of all people? Why am I, a viewer more interested in Gemma (someone I don't really even care for) than Mark? YOU HAVE HOURS TO SPARE. I have more issues, but it just boils down to S2 being so much slower and dragged out. Hell, this season finale didn't give me remotely the same feeling the first one did, I just moved on and could care less if a new season ever comes out. I'm more hyped for a singular solo leveling episode than another 10 episodes of this show.

I don't know how to feel about the ending with Mark here. Like even when talking to Helly at their desks she told him to leave and what not. My guess is something happened off screen because Helly left Dylan for some reason to find Mark but could have been intercepted on the way so that could be Helena Eagan faking again as a last attempt to trap Mark and get Gemma to come back to them. Basically if Gemma has to save Mark all the progress they made with her is still there. She can still finish Cold Harbor for them. if they capture her once more. I get why the show went this direction but I do think it was the wrong choice bc having Mark and Gemma outside with Devon and Cobel taking down Lumon would be sick. (I think Ben Stiller might be afraid that if they are only outside Mark and Gemma then you lose the aspect of the show with the main gimmick being severed people) Instead they could have still used it in unique ways like to gain access to certain areas or gain evidence inside/against Lumon other than just Gemma being alive. Im still super hyped for the future of the show and dude one of the biggest twits was the Mr. Drummond elevator scene, that was so crazy my girlfriend thought something was wrong cause I was geeking out in the family room lmao. Always a great reaction boys im so hyped for season 3!!

You guys all make good points and I do think from a filmmaking standpoint and others season 2 really stepped it up to another level and was really an achievement and one hell of a season of television. However….. I think regardless of what they do and where they take this show, season 1 will always have the edge for me. I’m just boring lol and I prefer my shows/movies a little more contained and smaller scale, relying heavily on dialogue and tone and subtlety. Most of time people describe shows or episodes as slow or boring (people saying season 3 white lotus is boring?????) I will not be in agreeance because that is just my speed lol. Like give it to me slow baby, I love it. Once things get super epic or expanded or the sci-fi elements get turned up it’s just less my thing. I also agree with Carter that the intrigue and mystery of season 1 was just so unique and interesting. The vibe of season 1 is just more my style and it will always hold that special place in my heart above anything else this show does. Incredible show all around though! And an incredible sophomore season for them.

Good thing is Devon will be able to show the camera recording to Gemma so it should be a little less hard for her if she understand innie Mark's feelings, and also a motivation to "rescue" her husband. For me top 3 moments of the season are this ep, Gemma's ep and Irving busting Helena. Still think it's very hard to choose the better season mainly because they are different moments of the story, I really prefer to think of the story as a whole, like there can't be season 2 without season 1, in the same sort AOT s3 part 2 needs part 1 to reach its perfection and for everything to hit harder. Glad you love Severance so much guys, as a patron Im happy to share the peak, and there is more to come. I've been thinking about movies that a are a must, and I'd say you really, really need to take a cinema saturday to watch 12 angry men (1957), I feel it 's similar to Severance in the way that is a story that hits every cord with "just" script, character development and outstanding acting in just 96 minutes. IMDB rating 9.0 but deserves more IMO.

I feel like Helly wouldn't show up at that crucial moment. Then again, maybe she realized how much she loved him & chose them. But if you love someone you'd let them go. If he stays he's dead. Gemma def escapes. The writing in this show is too good for her not to escape and nullify everything that has happened this season. As for what iMark's plan is that I don't think he has a plan. The deal was to save oMark's wife, now he's just gonna try to spend as much time as he can as an innie with Helly without plan for the future.

Been so fun watching this series with the geks. I loved getting interested in so many tv shows that I never would have watched any time soon if it weren’t for the geks lol. Watching Dark, Invincible and severance has been some peak tv and peak reactions. Keep up the good work geks 💪🏽

1. Maaan, Mr Milchick, what school did you go to. I know they didnt teach those dances at the winter tide. 2. Interestingly, I think this episode confirms that Innie Mark is the protagonist since he gets so much of the shine in the finale two seasons in a row. He truly hold the keys here. 3. Season 3 cant come soon enough! I bet theyll go for an analogy of workers going on strike with the innies taking over the severed floor. 4. That picture of Mark that looks almost relgious has some crazy implications. All of Rickons friends are in the picture too. I think we've only scratched the surface on the worldbuilding of this series and Lumon in general. It feels like we are close to the end but we might only be 1/3rd of the way there. 5. People are saying in the final scene, thats Helena and not Helly. Im conflicted. Because I dont know when the switch would have happened
