Mark’s the most realistic lol. He’s 18 with damn near 0 real battle exp or training, having to fight the strongest beings in the verse already… the way he "wins" makes 100% sense. He’s actually nuanced, while still retaining the classic hero charm. I can imagine the writer knew exactly how annoyed everyone would get with him, that makes sense too. An imperfect MC is better written than a perfect one.

The problem is that Mark is demanding control. Imagine if a superhero showed up on earth right now. He walks into the pentagon, and starts telling the military how it will do things. From their perspective, they have weapons that are at LEAST as strong as that superhero. So why would they have any obligation to take orders from him? He isn't bringing anything to the table that is substantial enough to let him make the decisions. And he's consistently shown that he makes HORRIBLE decisions. He took 3 fucking seasons to decide "Hey maybe killing these people that could destroy the world or entire dimensions if they escape prison is a good idea." So why should they be taking orders from Mark? He's a teenager who consistently gets his ass beat by every villain. He's not much good as anything other than a weapon, and even then he's not much better than most of their other weapons. And he gets taken down by a .mp3 file played over the loud speaker. So again, why should Cecil give a damn what Mark has to say when it comes to defending the planet? From Cecil's perspective, using Darkwing and the reanimen saved the fucking planet after Doc Seismic low-diffed Mark and Eve. Mark by comparison won't even take orders, and loses every fight he takes, which consistently gets shit loads of people killed. Then he comes barging into the pentagon, making demands, and when Cecil tells him to chill out he says "I'm not going anywhere". When he tries to escort him out (the reanimen literally just grabbed dude by the arm. Not even in like a mean way, just a "woah there buddy" kinda way), Mark starts crashing the fuck out. Imagine you're watching the son of a mass-murderer, who has the power to decapitate you in an instant, start having a mental break down in front of you. Who wouldn't be fucking terrified?

I mean, Code Geass is almost 20 years old. It was a different time and a highly stylized show. That said, it STILL had more high quality animation then Invincible, just with an artstyle you might not like. But on a technical level, the animation was better despite being made with tools from nearly two decades ago, and I'd imagine it had a MUCH smaller budget. That should really give you some perspective on why people are upset at the animation in Invincible. They really have no excuse.

One of the many reasons I love Studio Gek is if not at least one of them always shares my exact feelings about these shows. I felt very underwhelmed with season 3 at times but then at other times I felt overwhelmed in the best way. Season 1 narratively to me is miles better than 2 and 3, but the show overall is still in a great place

If you said Season 1x8 was a 10/10 episode I would get behind that. The dynamic of father son fight. Mark learning that Nolan killed the Guardians and isn’t the person he thought he was. Us as viewers getting the reveal of who Nolan really is and the purpose of the entire tv show. Season 3x8 does not have those layers to it besides Mark getting full rage once again like in (2x8) and mushing the character’s face that’s trying to kill his family.

I thought about them panting as an instinctual reaction, but they still can't breathe. It's probably some sort of oversight, but it is a superhero show, so it essentially requires suspension of disbelief. If they are in space, they shouldn't be able to make sounds in the first place, but that obviously introduces a lot of limitations.

all mark literally wanted was for both Darkwing and Sinclair to be punished for the shit they did ESPECIALLY Sinclair. did he want them dead? no. he was told one thing and something else completely happened and were given jobs instead and allowed to live life. even in Cecils backstory, he himself got punished for killing those 2 criminals that his boss turned. and you're also excluding the fact that 1. he was also constantly telling him to go go home and then he attempted throwing angstrom in his face which mark was quite literally forced into that situation but he tried using that gaslight him. Also, was tricked into meeting with nolan and then forced into helping since the Viltrumites were invading them. he didnt willing go there to help nolan 2. crashed out? the most mark did was walk into the pentagon and into cecil's office, lightly slammed on cecil's desk while he was raising his voice. according to cecil that was enough to immediately lead him to the white room. he made 0 actions leading anyone to believe he was going to attack cecil. MAKING THREATS??? what threats?? when mark asked him what threats he is making, his response was "you are scaring the shit outta me right now" which just because you are in an uncomfortable position doesnt mean you are being threatened.. and he followed him because they were HAVING A CONVERSATION? the situation was then escalated cause he lead mark into the white room and immediately brought out the reanimen which is one of the main reasons he was there mad in the first place. he started tweaking when the reanimen grabbed him then got even worse when cecil showed he had that device in his head. "you're afraid ill blow the whistle?", "you dont think they dont already know what were doing here?" cecil saying that is so damn funny cause as soon as mark brings up to the guardians they 1. have no idea what he is talking about 2. would like to hear mark out only to be immediately shutdown by cecil "this isnt a democracy" its also pretty funny that when cecil asked for the reanimen to be shut down 2-3 times, did they shut down? no they didnt.. so who knows how much actual control he has over the reanimen and after that point cecil 1000% deserved to be threatened and he was then let go. Now when mark came back and BROKE INTO the pentagon, bro was definitely tweaking while i do get how he assumed the Drone camera was his. he was doing a little much. like i stated already, they both couldve went about the situation differently. it definitely didnt need to be escalated as far as it did. i blame both of them for it getting to the point that it did ive typed way too god damn much and im not here to convince you when they both are right and Wrong

I mean, for a show that has the insane budget that Invincible does, the animation is bad. There is like 2 total minutes of good quality animation in the whole season. Everything else is just bland as hell. Lots of scenes are just a character being slid/rotated across the screen without actually being animated. It's not the animators fault though. I imagine they were rushed, and I don't imagine they hired many high level animators. So they did the best with what they had. But goddamn they need to spend more of the budget on animation and less on Hollywood voice actors.

The amount of cognitive dissonance it takes to defend Mark is actually crazy. "I do believe Cecil didn't necessarily try to get mark to understand why he is still using Sinclair and Darkwing". Dawg he tried literally every explanation he could, including: "You don't waste people like that, you use them." "Darkwing went crazy from fighting endless crime in midnight city." "They went through heavy psychological reprogramming." "Let them repay the heavy debt they owe to society." Mark ignored all of that and crashed the fuck out lmao. In all or almost all of the realities, Invincible becomes a villain in some form, with or without his father. The Angstrom from our Mark's world has had his memories drowned out by the hundreds or thousands of others, whom all suffered under Invincible in their own realities.

Guys there is only 1 Angstrom with abilities. He told you this in the first episode you meet him in S2. He has the teleport power from our Mark's universe. There is only ONE Angstrom in the multiverse with teleport powers, he killed all the other Angstroms without powers and has all their knowledge. IDK why you and so many creators forgot this and thought there was another Angstrom with abilities from another universe lol it was clear that wasn't the case.

I don't particularly like Mark because he's inconsistent with his power. It's bad writing more than anything. Like sure, make him hold back his power against weaker enemies, but don't make him a bum in the process - it just makes good moments for him look unrealistic. I also think skipping episode 5 was a mistake, it still advances the story & you miss some world building.

I just finished the full reaction. To answer the last part Carter talked about: we ended off season 3 of Invincible on issue 65 out of 144. That's roughly 45% done with the story. I think we're only getting 7 seasons max.
