Also, McKay is just always The Captain in every version of the multiverse with Brig being his first mate - and what a first mate he is - that guy would give his life for The Cap any day. Carter would be a failed pirate in every version of the multiverse because of his overwhelming wholesomeness. The captain of course always ignores his every good advice and with the classic satisfied McKay grin on his face. Jack and Cannon would be deck servants to scrub the decks and would be the first to get any disease, and probably be the first to get killed off if it was an actual movie, but they are the best comic relief characters and everyone cries when they die. 😭😭 Im sorry boys, its just how you got cast in my script. I love you all still! ❤️❤️

It does great world building, all characters have individual arcs and growth, there is a sense of adventure throughout. So well-acted throughout, Depp obviously is the standout but all the other actors are also so good. The movie is also beautifully shot, so many gorgeous scenes that could be a portrait on a wall.

It was always on the coach TV late at night as we were driving through Europe, going through various customs. Half of the bus asleep, half watching so the sound was half volume and I remember going in and out of sleep myself. The night and the vibe all added to the atmosphere. My aunt passed away last year but she's always going to be such a big part of my childhood with the various trips we made and these movies are such a reminder of that

The crazy stunts was just the movie playing on the strengths of the first one and just turning it up a notch or two, and in my opinion it was for the better. More physical comedy, more adventures, more threats, more characters, just more of the good stuf we already had in the first one. Yes it used to be kinda the consensus that the first one was the best and that the sequels ranged from just ok to bad, but in recent years the second and third movie have gained much more praise and respect, even when compared to the first one. I think it's because seeing genuinely entertaining characters, believable CGI and SFX, well made costumes and settings that make for a believable world has become such a rare thing these days, so it's what people yearn for and are happy find in older 2000s movies. And honestly, even looking back at the critics back then, what people criticized the movie for felt really nitpicky. Yes Jack Sparrow isn't as witty or the pacing is weird and it's more chaotic overall but those are minor things that really do not affect much of the overall enjoyment.
