SBWJHb I have no idea why the anime changed Jinwoo's position at the very end but he was actually supposed to be right outside the flat where his family lives, not some random tall ass building in the city. Like that literally makes no sense. The manhwa doesn't explicitly show why he was standing out there, but it's safe to assume that the moment he got a signal from the shadow soldiers he planted in the South Korean S-ranks' shadows, he left his house and stood outside the building to use Shadow Exchange. ALSO, I could have sworn the ant king's voice, even when distorted, was strangely familiar and reminded me of Akira Ishida, who voiced Akaza in Demon Slayer(my fav upper moon), AND I WAS RIGHT!!!! How does everyone else feel about them leaving out the panel about Goto feeling like he was going to die to Jin Woo? I think they should have kept it in because by showing that Goto knows he's weaker than Jin Woo it emphasizes his arrogance even more when he tells the ant that he is the king while knowing full well that there is someone stronger than him, which is basically his entire character. I've seen some people saying that they think that by leaving it out it hypes Goto up a little more so we think he will stand a chance, but he shouldn't need that, as far as we knew a team of this many S-ranks should be the most powerful thing we have ever seen. Also in the Manwa they set him apart from the others by saying that he is almost good enough to become a national level hunter which is a hunter that is supposed to be as strong as an entire nation's army and hunters. But for some reason in the anime they have cut out this term almost entirely. And this isn't me spoiling, they should have talked about national level hunters by now.

Details from the manhwa I thought were cool but didn't make it in: - In the manhwa, when Kei (the Japanese S-rank with the gas mask) created that barricade of ice and we see his reflection in it, the ice cracks just like in this episode, except it's very clear that he died because of all the blood that spurted out through the cracks - When they're still in the caves before reaching the boss chamber, Baek Yoonho actually speculates that Cha Hae-in, with the buffs that Min Byung Gu gave her, slaughtered about twice more ants than he did up till that point. Which is saying smth, cause his beast transformation is epic - When the ant king screams in rage over the death of the ant queen, most of the South Korean S-ranks actually fell to their knees under the weight of his power. However, Cha Hae-in was one of the only ones to remain standing, which really goes to show how powerful she is as a hunter. She may be the youngest on the team, but she's stronger than most of them there, which some fans speculated was the reason the ant king went after her first - When Choi Jong-in is using his firepower to burn up the ants that returned to the cave and are blocking the South Korean S-ranks from leaving, he said the reason he isn't upping his firepower more is that he would burn through every last bit of oxygen in the cave if he did so, which would result in their death eventually.

Answers to some of your questions!: - Ma Dong Wook, the guy with the shield, uses it because he's a tank. Tanks are typically not meant to go hand-to-hand directly with an opponent. Since he has a taunting skill and is an S-rank tank, it makes sense that he leaves the slashing and punching to Cha Hae-in and Baek Yoonho! - They HAVE done this before. For every raid they tried, the thing that pushed the South Korean hunters and any others that helped them was the sheer number of ants. It's working a lot better this time BECAUSE Goto Ryuji's side suggested drawing all the ants OUT of the nest before the South Korean S-ranks jumped in. Before, they likely didn't know abt the behaviour pattern of the ants(they're attracted to strong magical power and will come out if they sense a nearby threat) so they couldn't employ this same tactic. - The ant king was actually unable to talk before eating Min Byung Gu! He only gained that ability after, and when he was saying "Yoonho", it was actually Byung Gu's last words that he was repeating. It's pretty clear that the ant king isn't used to human speech from the way he hesitates when speaking, so we can deduce that wasn't able to speak before that.

The anime cutting out that manga panel was a good call. Keeping it would make the ant king going after Goto and thinking he could be the human king feel meaningless because we instantly know he's cooked. The show actually hypes him up a bit instead of just being regulated to fodder before the raid even starts and when he most likely gets cooked it fighting Jin Woo would actually have some tension.

"Its not that hard to add extra details to an ant" brother it literally is, they need to keep him in a consistent style, even if one scene he is very still, and it seems like they could've done more, that would still mean they'd have to animate him in other scenes, and adding all that detail just isn't feasible. Unless you want cgi? Because that's why studios use cgi, models that are too detailed or too big to be drawing over and over get the cgi treatment. The anime style is so simple because it actually has to be animated. I would recommend you stop comparing between single drawings and singular frames out of hundreds from a singular scene of animation, otherwise you are forever going to be mad

Trash take. They COULD have added more details to the still shot of the ant, but that would be a terrible decision. Once the ant starts actually fighting, what will happen with the details? Shit would look janky as hell if they kept swapping between levels of detail. So obviously they had to simplify the design. "Its not that hard"? The people animating this are experts in their industry that have been animating for decades. This show is visually at the pinnacle of what 99.99% of anime ever achieve. VERY few shows even come CLOSE to the animation quality of solo leveling. Meanwhile, you haven't animated a single thing in your life. Don't pretend like you know what you're talking about.

They could've handled explaining it better, but its not purely "I need to spend time with my mom". Its more "I don't give a damn about hunting at this point. I did what I set out to do and now hunting has lost the appeal." It's hinted at throughout the show, but Jinwoo was really only ever in this for his family. The reason he even worked as an E-Rank was to pay for his moms medical bills and his sisters schooling. Once he found out about the elixir of life, that became his only real goal. Then he gets it, heals his mom, and he feels like his mission is accomplished. So he shows up to see the hunters practicing for the raid, figures that they're plenty strong to handle basically ANY dungeon, and assumes he can leave it to them. And he would have been right if it weren't for the newly evolved black ant. That said, the broadcasting of the raid was on a long delay, as explained by the camera guy when they were arriving. So he wouldn't know that everything was going wrong until several minutes afterwards. So he's late, but not because he's apathetic, he just straight up didn't know.

The Korean team got off easy for sure. This is probably a hot take but I think more of them should have died haha! It was brutal and cool seeing the Japanese get killed but like we just met them. Not that I have emotional attachment to any characters tbh, but they were introduced just to die. And the secondary characters are saved by plot armor. The stakes just never feel that high for me. But I keep holding out hope something shocking will happen! We all know Jin woo will kill the ant. But I REALLY hope it’s a real struggle. Maybe loose a couple people in the process. I’ll definitely be pleasantly surprised if we get a real fight for survival from Jin woo next! I want to feel that anxiety again!

Next episodes will be crazy! Ofc the evil ant king would be voiced by ishida akira. And ofc the rat Japanese ceo guy would be voiced by madara 😂 The ost that played was definitely in retrospect to jinwoo’s S1 moment. I’m pretty sure the ant king and jinwoo are similar in that they can both get stronger via leveling/devouring. We see the ant king eating the queen, which I assume is him eating to get stronger. Same reasons apply to how he can talk now after eating the healers head. So he can gain abilities of his foe maybe, like jinwoo.

The manwha explains it a lot better, but he didn’t want to worry his mom by going to the island. So he was staying back. I don’t know why he isn’t with her, I’m assuming when he was done with his daily training he went to be quiet and observe what was going on. If he did have to leave, he can quickly teleport since his mom doesn’t even know he’s a hunter yet.
