I couldn’t get into GOT and I watched it with 3 times with 3 different crowds. For some reason Black Sails fits more my style though I’ll say the quality of GOT is far better than Black Sails and Vikings. Didn’t care about a single character in GOT and that’s what ultimately makes me enjoy a series. Black Sails has 2 insufferable characters that made it hard to watch at first but Captain Flint is my GOAT.

Man, such a nostalgic movie, I had this on VHS and would cycle between this and the Fellowship of the Ring while the other rewinded haha. Still so good, and brings back a lot of memories from High School, we played the soundtrack for our marching band competitions one year

Oh man, I got so hyped when I saw this come up. These movie literally impacted my entire middle and high school experience lol the first is the best imo, but the 2nd and 3rd still have my love. Past that, I honestly haven't watched. They felt like season 8 of Got to me lol But seriously, I can't wait for y'all to watch the next one.

The taller ship doesn't win for that reason, its taller. it fires over the smaller ship, not down onto it. This has happened in real life. Bigger ships are better long range as they have more rows of guns of course, but up close. the upper guns fire overhead of the smaller ship. so it had no advantage in number of guns.

I have sea sickness, I am scared of sea and water overall, I don't think I would survive a day living as a pirate, drinking rum into oblivion, live in filth or salty water, sail my whole life... But I dreamt of being a pirate and owning a ship. I had pirate books and a fake sword. I love main trilogy, 4th movie was super fun even though I was older watching it. But yeah, either I got older or movies got worse, 5th movie didn't hit that hard. Keira Knightley was a role model for so many girls watching the movies and Orlando Bloom is an ultimate crush

Hmm another one of my favs is "Calico" Jack Rackham he got the name "Calico" because he was incredibly clever like a cat he also dressed a bit flamboyantly. His lover and partner in crime was Anne Bonny, the most famous female pirate to ever do it. There are lots of crazy stories about Rackham escaping from 5+ naval ships. Jack and Anne were eventually captured and Jack was hanged, but Anne pled her belly (no clue if she was actually pregnant or not), and there is no record of her execution so many historians think she actually escaped :) If you're interested in pirates i recommend "The Lost Pirate Kingdom" on netflix its a good docuseries and I know some of the guys who consulted on it. Black sails is also good - its fiction but the plot follows real events and many of the characters are real pirates from history and are written pretty accurately based on the knowledge we have about them.

I work on a dive crew on a pirate wreck called "The Whydah" where we recover cannons, coins, pistols etc that belonged to the infamous "Black" Sam Bellamy. Here is the true story of the wealthiest pirate who ever lived for anybody interested: During the start of the golden age of piracy, Sam Bellamy was a poor sailor in the King's Navy. He lived in Cape Cod Massachusetts where he met a young woman named Marie and fell in love. But he was broke and her father wouldn't let her marry a poor sailor with no prospects so he decided to become a pirate to make enough money so that he could propose to her. Over the next few years Bellamy quickly became the wealthiest pirate to ever live, captaining a fleet of ships, and helping to establish the pirate colony of Nassau in the Bahamas. Finally he had enough gold to return to his lady love but on his way back a Nor'easter storm wrecked his ship within 100 yards of the shore of cape cod where Marie was waiting for him, killing Bellamy and his entire crew and sinking his ship to the bottom of the ocean where it remained until it was found more than 300 years later.

I feel the same way when I try to talk about things I've seen like animals of farthing wood, Watership down, dot and the kangaroo, the tudors,masterpiece theater and no one knows what im talking about.
